This looks fantastic! And it animates too? Whoa! ...But anyway, the options are too far down on the screen and too spread out, if you ask me. The eye needs to travel quite a bit from one point to the other and that takes away the focus from the great looking title. =/

I'm not so sure regarding the height of the options. I wanted the focus to lie on the center, thus making the design of the options simple and keeping them out of the colorful clouds in the middle. But I'll give it a try, to see how it appeals =)
Errr... no, leave that space.
It would look to crowded. The space makes it a lot more balanced.
(Also, you create focus with the text hover. The particle thingy makes the travelling a lot more natural.)
I'd also keep it at the bottom - you have only three options, which are fairly common anyway, and this way it's more subtle. The text doesn't need to be the center of attention at first, it's what you look at after staring at the screen.
But it is, like everything, just a matter of taste.

Crowded? Balanced? There's only two visible elements on the screen at any given time. How's that crowded? And to say it's balanced you'd need something on the upper side of the screen to make up for the visual weight at the bottom. That's why bringing these elements closer together is what can actually achieve more balance... I do agree your two next observations, though. But the whole point is that the eye never strives too far away from the title, which is what matters.
