Short story introduction
In Miserere you explore the dreams of a lonely space station occupant. The unnamed occupant have been on this station for years, all alone. Needless to say, this has taken its toll on our poor protagonists mind. This occasionally shows in the dreams.
But there are still glimmers of hope.

Gameplay
The game relies heavily on atmosphere and mood to keep the player interested. You explore the mind of our protagonist via 4 possible pathways, which branch out, when you enter the dreamworld.
The main focus lies in exploration and uncovering the past of the protagonist. There are a few puzzles among the way, which are usually not too hard.

A retouch of Miserere

It's been quite a while since I touched anything related to gamemaking now, more than 2 years, I think? I've been focusing on only art. But I recently got a taste for doing something with my old games, especially when it comes to the art of Miserere. Some of the maps look quite dated, to be honest. So I thought I'd do my best to remake the art of the worst offenders while still trying to keep the original idea behind the maps intact. I might add some new creatures here and there just for fun, too. I've already started, and here are a couple of examples!

If you have done those things i would say you have seen most of what the current version has to offer. There is no end to the game as of now actually. I hope you liked what was there though.

Miserere is latin for "have mercy". It is also the unofficial name for a penitential psalm from the bible. The name for this psalm comes from the opening words in latin Miserere mei, Deus, which means Have mercy on me, O God. This psalm is known for its spirit of humility and repentance.

The game design is EPIC!
I've never seen a game like this in a long, long time. The excellent combination between the background music and the landscape produced an amazing atmosphere. The mysterious and dark atmosphere of the game was the only reason I played this game for hours. I was really curious about the protagonist's mental state as well as what causes his/her mind to be like that.
But not knowing where to go and what to do was kinda frustrating considering the vast landscape of the dream world.

I should have just google'd it, but for some reason I thought miserere was one of those weird words people made up that doesn't really mean anything, like Cthulhu or Karnoferoz.

There will be lots of more things to do and see in the finished version. I would like you to consider this version the skeleton, with meat being gradually added until it is finished.

Getting the atmosphere right was probably my main goal with this release, so it's nice to hear that it was good. These types of games get boring really fast if you don't have that little extra tingle that keeps you interested, after all.
I'm glad you liked it, i shall look forward to your response to the finished game.
Subbed, Lol reason being? It's an epic piece of beauterrificy~ o_o

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this looks like it has some inspiration from Yume Nikki.

Planning on getting this, once I get internet for my computer again!

That is absolutely correct. I used to play YN alot a few years ago and i'd say it has influenced this game alot.
One thing i didn't like about it was the large looping areas, so i have none of those here. If you can't find something in this game it is not because you walked past it.
Other than that i guess the dreaming part is kinda the same.
Finished playing Miserere v1.0!
The ending was, bittersweet...
Sweet game dude. Quite a few areas gave me the chills.

You put alot of work into this game and it shows.

Its a good game :) you do have a few spelling issues, though D: I like the atmosphere in all the dreams and half the time I was afraid to approach something, wondering if it would eat XD
