Almost two years have passed since Squall and his comrades defeated the witch Ultimecia and brought peace to the world.

A peace that was short-lived.

Dollet, sensing Galbadia's weakness after the tyrannical rule of the possessed Sorceress Edea and the many conflicts with SeeD, rallied the resistance factions and remaining Timber military to their cause and set out on a crusade to reverse what the Sorceress War nearly two decades ago did.
Barely six months after Ultimecia was defeated, the world was at war again.

Balamb Garden and SeeD, originally intending to remain neutral in the matter, the route Esthar took, were called upon by the the Timber resistance factions after SeeD's contract with the Forest Owls was leaked. Unable to back out of the all-encompassing "until Timber's independence", Squall and his comrades were washed into the escalating conflict with Galbadia. Galbadia Garden, barely re-established, allied itself with Galbadia unconditionally, pitting SeeD against SeeD, the casualties beginning to rise massively.

And under the surface, a new threat is beginning to rise, a threat that will not only put many lives in danger, but change the world forever.

Re-Upload Already?!

Aha, sorry guys! On one part it's my fault BUT the main issue is not really mine. I have to reupload unencrypted because the animated battlers system uses folders inside the battlers folder, which encrypted games do not like. So Squall wouldn't show up in battle, enemies wouldn't animate, etc...

The second thing was if you cleared a map the dialogue afterwards would repeat, which is a legitimate bug that I am sorry for (I didn't clear a map after I altered the event, whoops). My bad!

It's reuploading now so it should be up in about half an hour or so. Hang tight guys!

Please make/use cool monster graphics this time. If it's like every other FF game, random battles end up taking up the bulk of the players time. Fighting boring basic animals is boring :/

I played every FF up to 9, except 8 haha So I'm not really a fan, but I like how this looks. That text box is really sweet. Did the original have those "waves" of redish color? That looks kind of odd
Actually the messages were pretty much grey, I think. xD

It's an incredibly low res rip. Don't worry, our text box is basically identical to http://rpgmaker.net/games/4070/images/27297/ in colour and resolution.

Link, please feast your eyes on the vagina-shaped fungus in the blogpost. Final Fantasy VIII is home to some of the most unique enemy design and the least amount of recolours because of the enemy level system. We're not using that here, but I'm not the type to be satisfied with normal rats.

(dude, did you even PLAY CC or what? I thought those monster graphics were pretty cool orz its not like you were fighting rats)
Vagina-shaped fungus.

Omg lololololol
...okay so I saw this buzzing on the front page and was like ":/ fo realz" but then I clicked on it and read things and was like ".A." and then I saw your amazing sprites and was "@A@" and now I'm all like "fukken subbed"

I REALLY LIKE FF8 AND I THINK YOU WILL DO AN EXCELLENT JOB. <3
The premise actually feels more solid than Advent Children, which is both hilarious (at Square's expense) and reminds me how radtacular the power of fans is.

Good luck with this - I can't wait to see how it goes!

(also, any game with labial fungi is worth following, in my mind)
A follow up from my favourite game? The game I completed 100% and know the whole in's and outs of? Count me in! Also just a suggestion but do you reckon you could do voices with the text? I know someone who is doing it for thier game and trust me it makes it awesome!

Probably not! Not saying that it wouldn't be uber-cool to have voice acting, the inconsistency that might occur from different recording equipment, the filesize bloat, the likelyhood of getting actors who can't act, all factor in to my reluctance to even consider it. Filesize is mainly the issue, because of the parallax maps coupled with a full MP3/.ogg soundtrack. I did at one point consider ripping Dissidia's battle voices for extra dimension in fights, but with only Squall/Laguna/Selphie available to rip it just isn't viable. :c

*Selphie being from Kingdom Hearts.
Aww that's a shame lol. Still I bet this will be a great game. Did you complete it 100%?

There were a few things I didn't manage to complete.
1. The Winhill Vase quest
2. The "Mysterious Voice of Lake Obel" quest
3. The second part of the Laguna Statue (I heard there was a second part, after the initial Phoenix Pinion reward)
4. The Queen of Cards quest, because I never liked giving up my cards @A@
5. Pupu because finding those aliens was a pain in the butt
6. Never actually managed to defeat EVERY boss in Ultimecia's Castle because some of the puzzles confused me. I'm not good at puzzles.
7. I only managed to make it through 4 levels of Chocobo World, so I never got Moomba or Minimog, or fully levelled up Boko.

That being said, I know of their existence and I'm actually playing VIII at the moment for...obvious reasons, so I'll probably try and get all this stuff done.
Well Krysty. Since I am very interested in this game I was wondering if you would accept me into your team to help make this game. I have always thought of making an FF8 sequal but never found anyone to make one with. If you are please send me an inbox message.

I really appreciate the offer, but in terms of actual developers our team's good as-is. Once a team gets bigger than 3-4 members conflicts in ideas start happening. Plus I'm pretty regimented in my ideas and not open to big changes in things like plot. Thankyou for the offer though ;w;

Always read the fine print 83
People used to give me weird looks when I listed FF8 as my favorite FF. FF7 was the game that got me into the Playstation era, and RPGs in general, but 8 always had its own charm. I think it was due to me actually anticipating it, via magazine articles building up to it, instead of just seeing an add on tv and running out to the store after retracting my jaw from the sub-basement. Also, being in highschool at the time, the personal side of the story hit a little closer to the mark.

I didn't slaughter all of the Ultimecia's Castle bosses either. During a couple of the fights, I stumbled into the right strategy about halfway through (and then there is the one fight that depends largely on luck, if I recall. Meggiddo fire twice in a row is not very nice) but during others, I knew what I had to do and just hadn't prepared for it. 100 Hero Medicines (If I recall correctly!), no thanks.

Also, guess it goes without saying that you're NOT taking the "Most of it is a dream because Squall has been limping up Jacob's Ladder ever since he took an ice spear to the chest" approach. =)

This has been my long winded way of saying that I'm subscribed!

We do not speak of that theory here o7

It resulted in a fairly lengthy bout of depression on my end. Not cool bro.

I have explained that plot hole in my notes, but it basically goes "Ultimecia healed him afterwards because he was 'interesting' and it took a close observation for her to think that."

Yeah, I never got why Phoenix Downs didn't ever work in cutscenes, sooo.. I just assumed he was healed afterwards.
