You play as Cecelia, a reporter who works for a tabloid in New York City. You have volunteered to go to Reachwood Estate, the grounds of which feature prominently in a local urban legend. Upon reaching your destination you realize that maybe there was a hint of truth to the tales of the Reachwood Killer, and now you must solve the mystery of why he is here, and more importantly, how you will stay alive.

Voice acting? HWAAAAAAT??!!

So, while doing a backload of dishes that I've been putting off for a few days, I finally got over my idea block and figured out how to finish off the sewers! For this though, I thought that text boxes might kill the atmosphere, so I've opted for recording some voice acting for this.

Now, I'm not going to be adding voices for the main characters, it is going to be more of a whispered voice type thing that will follow the player. I'm going to do my best to keep it creepy as hell and try to stay out of the campy zone that voice acting seems to put so many horror games into, so don't fret, I'm entirely aware of how hard this is.

Cheers!

I like the look and sound of the game, can't wait to see what will come from it. Subbed!
NOACCEPTANCE772
And the ability to summon the "Office Whores" to deal damage to the enemies.

Niiiiice story.Subbed.
Woo, download approved! Please keep in mind that this is a very rough cut of what is to come, so please keep that in mind as you stumble through my crapfest lol
This looks great, man. I love that people are hitting the horror!
Alright man, I like the sneaking into the haunted mansion bit. I reckon that the switch that allows you to pick up the rope should be thhrown when she gets to the gate and says "I'll have to find anther way around"

the way it is, When she said that I immediately went "ok, I'll go and get that sweet piece of rope and climb over" but I couldn't yet, because I had to go back and click on a piece of wall first, so a bit of back and forth for something that only takes a second to work out.

A tiny thing: the shiney object on the small, round table....first floor, far right room. That object needs to be made a fixed graphic or something. If you clock on it from the right hand side it spazzes out and turns into upside down people and other objects.
I just realized that I think the version I put up may have a repeating message glitch that I meant to fix but forgot about X_X
Ok, so...I got the message saying that she was creeped out and wanted to leave. So I tried the door. But it was only after I tried the door and found it locked that I took the photo of the blood on the wall. So the murderer didn't come out, Instead I got a chance to walk around some more...and the door was open, the music changed but he didn't appear until I went into the dining room. Hard to explain but the basic message is I messed up the trigger for the guy with the sheers.

also, the camera pans up for a second after you try the door, for some reason. Is it to show the blood?

EDIT: ah, I realise why it pans up now that I triggered the event properly.
The murderer's door doesn't lead anywhere.

After you've escaped the murderer and try the front door again, the message is accompanied by what must be an old version of Cecelia's face.
This is a solid game, I'm just picking up a couple of minor things here.
The tile you are using for the tops of walls, you should probably go into the chipset editor and put a SQUARE on top of that tile. Right now you can't walk through any part of it and you probably want to make it behave like roofing, so people can walk under slight ledges.

Also, did you mean for the main character to walk this slowly. It's a bit harsh.
Aside from the walk speed I like it a lot.

EDIT:
The only way I was able to get to that door in the basement, when the light was off was to allow myself to die and stick a piece of bluetack to the monitor where the door is. With the guy right behind you, and the exit at some unknown position along the bottom wall that bit is just too hard to do, and re-walking the basement at that speed over and over is painful.
I will change the door that he comes out of. Originally The pan was supposed to go up to show the door opening, I will go back to that and make it close when he does come out, as you are supposed to go in and see it after the first chase sequence. I haven't had anyone to test the basement bit beside myself and I was able to do it so I wasn't aware that it would prove to be so difficult (but I made it so it makes sense that I know exactly what to do lol). I want to try to implement a run feature that will let you sprint for short periods of time, but I was trying to emulate a realistic walk speed, but when being chased you probably wouldn't be walking.

Thank you for the input, I will get to work on this stuff right away. It really does help actually having someone else to look at it other than myself (my girlfriend refused to continue once she got to the basement cause it scared her too much ;_;)
I'm really enjoying it so far. Being able to run would be great.
Yea, it's good to have people play your game and give you feedback, a couple of people are doing that for me right now and I've gotten some good stuff.

Do you think you'd be able to test play mine for a bit before I finish it next month?
You can take resources form it if you want.
Sure, I can test it out if you want, I've got nothing but time and it's the least I can do for the good feedback.
When I open the game it says 'cannot find system 2c' I looked in the System 2 folder and there was nothing inside of it, any way that I can fix that or get the files?
Thats weird, I didn't even use any system 2 files in the game as there is no combat, and it apparently worked fine for Marcus. I'll see what I can do.
EDITED!
I had the rpgmaker2k3 RTP but for some reason it wasn't picking it up.
I'm playing right now!

I'll give you my thoughts in abit!
Could it be possible that I might not have the RM2k3 RTP? (I've played RM2K3 games before so I'm not sure if I might have gotten it before or I've just gotten lucky in the past.)

I'd download it just to make sure, that was my problem. It was in a different game folder and wasn't picking up for this game.

After putting the RTP back in its right place, it worked fine for me.

EDIT: You might want to look into RMtool and make your game sustainable without the RTP, there are tutorials on here on how to do it, it's really easy makes it a less hassle for those who want to play the game but don't have the RTP.

Annd on that note, I've been playing and find this game VERY VERY enjoyable from a survial horror standpoint!
SPOILER!
the part with the blacked out rooms and having to use the camera for light for the first time while being chased is the scariest shit that I have ever seen/experienced in a rpgmaker horror game! VERY WELL DONE! :D
Ok, I know I said I wouldn't be doing this, but I'm going to be putting up one more version of the first portion of the game with just a couple more fixes. I'm annoying, I know.

For some reason, the rope event didn't trigger off the condemned sign, and I changed the chipset in the first scene to make the trees look nicer.
I'm not sure if it has been brought up but you should definitely stay with one of the more realistic looking facesets, I think they look nicer other the RTP/face generator set.
I couldn't really find a good realistic one to go with a character set that I could find, so I didn't. I don't think that I could make a decent sprite (which is weird since I'm fairly artistically inclined), and I the place I go for faceset really didn't have realistic ones :/ Regardless, that is something I can change anywhere before final release, so I have time to put together a good combo. It really boils down to "I couldn't find anything I liked, so I settled for what was there".

Oh, I just meant that in-game I noticed that there was like three different facesets at different times. Like it started with the ones with the expressions then went to more realistic looking ones.
