You may have heard the rumors. Now take the Journey for yourself!

Jay is just some guy in just some town, living quietly with his best friend Carol. All seems right in the world, until a wizard named Antignarot and a talking lion named Atolla appear in town. This sends them on a worldwide adventure full of monsters that politely wait their turn in battle, NPCs that just don't know when to get out of the freaking way, keys that disappear when used, and villains who want to take over the world! In other word, a pretty normal RPG.

Look back at this game from 2002, updated for the new decade! (Well, it has some extra dialogue and bug fixes, at least.) Voted best use of RTP in the Misao awards, and one of the best-known comedy RPG Maker games! Includes mini-games, a custom switch menu, a party-following mechanic, a custom battle theme, hours of gameplay, and hopefully a few laughs.

Requires the RPG Maker RTP 1.0 in order to play.

My mind is full of fuck.

I think I'll give it a shot due to the fact I just made a game with RMK2 as well!
FUCK YES! This was one of my favorite rm games when I first found rm2k back in like 02. And I tore apart your code for hours trying to emulate your party follow system. I am very happy to see you finally finish this! Will be downloading for sure.

Right, one I really enjoyed too, so there's more to it; I just might want to play it again, how many years..?!
Nackster: If you played a version that had the party follow system, what you played was the finished game (unless you somehow got on my computer when I wasn't looking and played it while I was in the middle of making it!) This is updated, but it's still the same game and ends in the same place. Most of the updates involved an extra hint of where to go next when unclear, bug fixes, or better spacing of the dialogue.

And there are some traps that give you an instant Game Over if you visit places you shouldn't be at the present time - you won't see them if you don't cheat! - inspired by someone who made a big deal of the alleged poorly-coded triggers when he debug-walked to where he THOUGHT the next destination was, missing the normally-unavoidable plot events that happened on the way. ;)

Oh, yeah, and I gave one character a new ability to help make the character a little more useful. He's one of the optional characters, so I won't say who it is.

Well in all honesty I never finished the game so it's a treat for me anyways. :D
I'm stuck now and I don't know what to do. I rescued Carol from Cliffside town, I got 10 characters (Jay, Carol, Atolla, Max, Puff, Frost, Gaia, Cindel, Shade, Globule), Jarogo is in Dambaro but I can't figure out how to help him.

Carol should have recommended your next destination: back home to Pecot. Make sure to look around and set your eyes to take Ames at any plot-relevant characters that may or may not be present.

As for Jarogo, he'll be more important later, but there's certainly no harm in helping him now. As I do not know where in the trading sidequest you are, I can't say for sure what to do next, but there are NPCs in both Nifton (Gaia's hometown) and Pecot (where you should be going next due to the plot anyway) who you might want to look up.
Hey Jay. Love your game. Playing it again after years is giving me a lot of nostalgia.

But I'm stuck and I need help! Does anyone know how to pass the room with the switches when you go into the chest in the ice temple?
You can walk down so that the lower wall overlaps Jay's body. Sometimes, obvious obstacles in the way don't reach down that far...
I'm loving this game!

I am having a technical problem with it, though. Something's happened which is causing it to use the wrong fonts. Here's a picture of the title screen, the issue should be apparent enough. The menu text is normally readable.

Hate to ask a technical support question on this page, but I'm not sure the best other place to look. Thanks either way!

EDIT 2013/09/16: Fixed it: http://rpgmaker.net/games/390/?post=176544#post176544
Just finished it, wonderful game!.

BTW: What happened with the sequel?
I've been sitting on the answer to that for a while, but I'm ready to announce: Jay's Journey Reimagined/Jay's Journey 2: Worlds Apart Double Feature, made with RPG Maker MV! I started a blog for it here: https://jaysjourney2016.wordpress.com/
