The wheels of creation have remained in motion for centuries. Human life has prospered, living out their lives fruitfully, free from His gaze. But now, He has turned His eyes to a sinful being who is about to be reborn...

For any other man, life continued as usual. For a man like Elioth, life took a turn for the insane. Member of the renowned Excavators Guild, he returns home one day to find his future wife unconscious. Stricken by a terrible disease called Blood Haze, he sets off with his brother and a dear friend in search of a cure. But does one even exist? Where does one start on this madman's hunt? The answers are not as they seem, the questions they have remain unanswered.

A war they cannot win, but one they will have to wage. Who will emerge victorious?
The forces of Heaven and Hell are on the move...

-14-18 hours of main storyline, spanning 4 chapters.
-12+ hours of side and post-game content. For those that like to explore, there is enough to do!
-A modified Free-turn battle system, implementing Press-turn features. Freely use up your turns with whichever character you like, but take note of their remaining stamina, for one cannot act without it. Hit weaknesses to gain extra turns, get punished when hitting resistances or when your weakness is hit by the enemy.
-A robust crafting system. Gather raw materials out in the world, or slay that one elusive rare monster for its hide, then turn it into superior armour and weapons.
-Over 500 pieces of armour and weapons, some powerful enough to grant unique special effects.
-Freely customize your characters with a plethora of skills. Gain points after every level up to use on learning new ones. Specialize in single elements, buffing, healing? It's up to you.
-Did I mention we've got SMT skills? Of course I did.

Chapter 1 released!

Yay, it's finally here! After a bunch of setbacks, the game is in a playable state without any major issues...I hope.
This release contains the entire first chapter of the game and should take about 3-4 hours to complete. You'll need WinRAR to extract the archive, though I assume most of you have that nifty program installed already.

The only real concern I have with the game in its current state is how it feels pretty easy, though that may be because I know everything there is to know. Then again, I don't want the game to be as hard as the original Blood Haze, at least not in the first chapter.
I also made some changes AFTER my playtest, hopefully none of them break the game in any way but if you run into anything major, make sure to let me know! I can still re-upload a new demo if needed, but once I start working on Chapter 2 that's going to be a lot harder.

==============================
PATCH 1.01 NOTES
==============================
-Increased player speed by ±15% (Please let me know if this breaks any events in the game)
-Removed a line of redundant dialog, changed some others and added a dialog box for when Marlene gives you some recovery items at the beginning of the game.
-A dialog box will now be triggered whenever a food effect expires.
-Replaced the Excavators Guild theme with the one from the original.
-Replaced the Nirram Mines theme, which is the theme for Gharos Ruins, with one from the original game.
==============================
PATCH 1.10 NOTES
==============================
-Replaced the lighting system with a newer version to get rid of lag. Includes dynamic shadows! *DUE TO THIS CHANGE, OLD SAVE FILES ARE NO LONGER COMPATIBLE*
-Removed Pathfinding script to reduce lag.
-Fixed some word wrap issues here and there.
-Fixed a softlock issue when completing Melanie's Sidequest.
-Fixed a softlock issue in Brynhildr's Realm.
-Fixed a softlock issue early on in the game if the player approaches the bed diagonally.
-Fixed an issue where pressing "No" when asked to proceed to the boss fight in Brynhildr's realm to cause the game to skip the fight and softlock.
-Fixed the issue with Harvest points not respawning properly if the player has any kind of Food Effect.
-Fixed an issue with the Confusion ailment causing the character to act on its own even after it was cured.
-Fixed an issue with a boulder north of Gharos Village.
-Fixed some spots where it was possible to go out-of-bounds or walk on impassable terrain
-Gharos Ruins is now slightly easier.
-Gharos Forest up to the hotel is now slightly harder.
-The fight against Chelsey is now easier.
-Enemies in the Nirram Mines are now slightly more resilient to damage.
-Increased the difficulty of the fight against Emissary.
-Replaced the reward of the Emissary fight from "Physical Booster" to "Fire Booster"
-Decreased the stats on the Messenger craftable item.
-Changed the behaviour of the Confusion ailment. If you are inflicted with it, you can no longer gain Extra turns with that character. For enemies, they can no longer gain the "Surge" state. (In the demo, confusion when used by the player still causes the old effect. Confusion used by the enemy uses the new effect)
-Reduced Escape success rate to 60% (down from 100%). Hard mode disables escaping entirely.
-Added two new "Gameplay Tip" statues to the game. These explain the different stats (ATK/SPI etc.) and Ailment effects.
-Enemies will no longer do a "walk up" animation when attacking with certain physical attacks.

It's removed for now, I'll be adding it back later once I have things set up on this page. You'll see why I did this soon. ;)

Nothing much, it's simply in the process of being...reborn.

I'll shed some more light on what's going on tomorrow or Wednesdays.
So, Reborn is some sort of rework?
Looks really cool though, I don't mind replaying it because I liked the original. Reminds me that I never made a review of it.

Soooo... it's uhhh... past Christmas... and New Years...

I knoooowwwwwwww ;_;

I still have to create one more sprite, fix some issues with scripts, go over dialog once more then the test the entire chapter from start to finish. Should all be done friday/saturday/sunday.

I really should stop giving estimates/promises, I am horrible with time management and I don't like setting deadlines for myself either.
Hello.

Yeah it's a bug, the character tries to move up twice and ends up stuck because obviously there's a person there. It will be fixed in an upcoming patch.
There's another event where this happens in the main quest, but you can avoid it by triggering the event from the right side instead of the left. These two issues are also mentioned in the latest blog post.

Talking about said patch, besides fixing the obvious softlock issues and some minor balancing stuff, I'm also implementing Khas's Ultra Lighting instead of his Awesome Lighting script to get rid of some of the lag problems. I noticed in an earlier playtest I did that the game would slow down massively after 2-3 hours of continuous play, which was from what I assume Khas's script not disposing of light pictures properly, clogging up memory/CPU.
This new script should fix that issue, hopefully. It also adds dynamic shadows but for those who don't like those you can turn them off!

I expect the new version of the demo to be up by Thursday evening, maybe earlier.
New version is up! Patch notes are in the "Chapter 1 released!" blog post.
*OLD SAVE FILES ARE INCOMPATIBLE WITH THE NEW VERSION.*
For those who are currently still playing through the demo, it would be wiser to continue with that one instead of starting over, as the content remains the same.

Anyway, now that that's out of the way, it's time to start working on Chapter 2. I have a bunch of things I want to share with you all regarding the rest of the game.
First of all, I originally intended to include 3 difficulty settings: Normal, Hard and Chaos.
I have since decided to scrap Chaos entirely and only include a Hard difficulty. The reason for this is that I feel like balancing the game around 3 difficulties would become way too hard. It also allows me to make Normal > Hard have more of a gap in difficulty as it should be, without JUST relying on enemy stat increases.

For Hard mode I have the following in mind:
-Increase enemy damage and HP slightly (20~%)
-All enemies will gain new attacks, intended to make each fight more challenging.
-Increase EXP/Item drops. I was thinking of +50% EXP and 2x item drop chance.
-Decrease gold dropped by 50~%.

My intention is to make a mode which is definitely harder, but rewards the player with less need to grind if they play their cards right. Careful planning of character skill builds will go very far in this mode.
The decrease of gold dropped forces you to spend money wisely, as most of your items will come from enemies and chests instead. Overuse of items means you'll have to spend money you don't want to spend because you'll desperately need it to buy/craft better gear.
I'll allow the player to swap from Hard to Normal if they so desire, but never the other way around.

Secondly, I'll be decreasing the amount of chapters from 4 to 3. This does NOT mean there'll be less content/story content cut. Instead I decided to condense Chapter 3 and 4 into one chapter. In the original the amount of story content in these 2 chapters was roughly the same as Chapter 1 or 2. Their length mainly came from the long dungeons and grinding needed to pass some fights. Since I'm reducing dungeon length and making the game easier overall, this would make Chapter 3/4 really short compared to 1/2. I want to keep them roughly the same length, so there you go.
However, the game might still end up being shorter than the original, mainly because of smaller maps, easier to get around the place, shorter fights etc. It should still clock at 10-12 hours. But I'll update the length in the features section as we get closer to release.

Finally, while the demo teases a release of Chapter 2 once it's finished, I have decided against this and will instead release the game once it's actually completely done. I have spent way too long polishing chapter 1 and releasing new versions instead of simply continuing working on the game and squashing all bugs/doing thorough play tests at the end. The latter is far more time-efficient and should make sure I can get the game done this year.
To add to that, I cannot guarantee if the save files from this demo will be compatible with the full release. I am 90% sure you'll be able to use them, but don't hold me to it.

And that's all from me. From now on, I'll be doing my monthly progress reports again, so expect the next one at the end of february! Take care.

Hello.
Im playing the original and wonder where
Essensce of Chernobog and Essence of black frost is.
.

Let's see if I remember...
Essence of Chernobog is from defeating Chernobog in the Tomb of Chernobog, which you can get to via Gharos Forest East. There's also a sidequest in Gharos Village that will lead you there (has to do with the little girl).
Of course, the original had some huge maps so...from what I remember you head east/right on the last map of Gharos Forest East where it leads you outside and onto the road leading to the Excavators Guild. Probably easiest way to find it is teleport to the Excavators Guild, walk all the way until you get to the forest and head all the way to the right/east. You'll come to a Mine, head all the way down into the mine to get to Chernobog's Tomb.

For Essence of Black Frost, you'll need to defeat Black Frost! He can be found in the final map before the final boss, instead of heading to the final boss fight go back a little bit and head south into more ice areas. The fight with Black Frost awaits you at the end.

EDIT:Forget my post,i got it.But now i dont know how to get them all but its another question.Maybe a new p+laythrough.Even the original game is so good.Ok.Thanks.

I believe there are 15 but I honestly forgot where they're all located. I know that about 50% can be found in the world and 50% come from sidequests. If you really want to know where to get them all I can dig through the game files and see if I can find their locations for you.
Loved the original game. Will be playing this

i hate auto skipping text :( (intro)

nice menus and character art

i did the tutorial on the second fight with the 3 slugs and my skills were gone! only one character could damage them so i was in a pinch!

i hate over complicated battle systems.each character has a absurd amount of skills and its even worse you need to equip skills
despite knowing them you cant use them unless they are equipped?
and you even share them >.> so your not unique either.
also when equipping a skill the description of it is in the background not the current screen

when you get back to town before going home (its nighttime)
you can find 2 npcs one outside the in and another looking for a medicine box.
even if you help the lady by the inn she is still there in the morning. it does not make sense.

i don't think i would call a wolf a monster

i am glad you can select how many items you wish to make when you craft but why do you have to wait for it to be finished?

the dialog got pretty stupid when you found your wife. i really hate the words
"why >insert gender,name or such here< ?"

the haunted mansion was funny. in reality or a non battle game it would of worked. but this isn't that ind of experience and would not make any sense if i could not do anything.

i hate when to got to go find keys to locked rooms which have more keys to locked rooms which repeat along with puzzles until the final room which someone is somehow there despite the fact that its impossible.
nor would anyone ever set it up like that anyway.

...Elioth cannot believe in demons despite being in what looked like hell? with real ghosts and actual monsters?
not only that but we also saw crosses so that confirms religion exists as well. this was a really idiotic statement.

The skill mahamaon sucks (and probably all the holy skills that have nothing on the other skills.

not fond of marleene leaving the party :( she was the best character

its a shame there is no quest option in the menu there should be considering the scale of the world

general Dropped (its a secret!)
as i did not finish this ill pass

Overall
if you like battle oriented games with alot of skills grinding and what not check this out.
