550 downloads on this site alone for a game that has been deleted off of the server for a few months. Not bad.

After a terrible audio review from someone that I swear hates fan games, I have decided to dust this game off and rekindle my interest for it just to spite the reviewer that said this game is so bad that it is fun. If anyone wants to hear the bad review, it is Episode 2 of RMNCast and 21 minutes into it he talks where the game went wrong for a good 4 minutes.

While I have been away I have been getting emails and secret messages on various forums. At least people are interested.

So the big news is I figured out what was giving the game the lag. It was Dangor's Beastiary. Once it was gone the game no longer lagged or chugged along.

That does not mean I have uploaded a new version. I want to do more for the game instead of releasing it just to release it for a special day.

More than 100 downloads in 7 days from this site alone is a good sign. Lack of comments is not. In this forum and the 3 other forums this project is at.

I actually had 3 emails, which makes me happy considering there really has not been any comments about the game on this forum or other forum since June other than "interesting idea."

If I were a big faceless corporation, then feedback would not matter. I would just look at the sales :-)

V.10.1 : Errors reported and fixed

Here are the errors with V.10 that have been reported and I have fixed:
- fixed walking sick
- Quick Fix Quest Log error is now fixed
- Fixed Halbat Farmer that would not let you pass even when you completed Quick Fix
- Fixed Akarothi Docks error
- Fixed the thugs and the princess

These are pretty noticable if not annoying, so I have uploaded V.10.1.

The link does not change, it is still the same download even if it says V.9 it all goes to V.10.1


Make sure that when installing the new version, you keep your save files in a different location and then put them back.

I finally have been granted access to see my web stats and I saw that this game had 1,000 downloads in the month of September alone and it has not had a new version since very early July. I am happy.

The game now has 2 characters that will join your party for the rest of the game. This was to do away with the simplistic go to a guild and create your characters right at the start.

I remember with Maia 2K3, people complained that you found all 4 characters in the first five minutes... but then of course you lose one of them when he turns on you 10 minutes later.

Anyway, one of the two new characters is the princess of Alefgard. Not really the princess, more like she's the step daughter of the king. The daughter of a thief that married into being a queen.

The second character is the player's endearing, charming, flustered best friend of a character.

Both characters need to be earned with quests, if not a series of quests. One storyline will lead you into prison, the other will lead you into a graveyard after being asked by an angry father to go.

You can get both characters to join the party after a full hour into the game. Give or take ten minutes.

I should point out that you still pick their class and assign their stats to create your very own character.

Now to make how to earn the final character.

World Crafters... the game that eats other games!

TOWER, FORTS, VILLAGES, PORTS, and AN UNDERGROUND EVIL CASTLE
There are enough scraps around to make an entirely new kingdom and add it to the game. Scraps like excess things people have given me or things that I left out of one part to put into another part. It consists of 2 fortresses, 5 villages, 1 port, and an underground evil castle from Grafikal that will make anyone quake in their armor. This is where TOWER's great town will be placed along with his quests. All of this stuff will probably be for after the player has reached level 15-18+ and will be east of the Armatropa Kingdom.

Someone (on another forum) also gave an underground fire quest, along with an underground volcanic town and prison.

LAND OF THE GIANTS

A13x and that forementioned person have given *big* cities as in with *big* buildings. I would like to still use their submissions, just because they are still good, even if *big* buildings do not fit the design style of the game. So I am going to create a world of giants! An extinct race of giants that left behind a mystery as to where they went... remember Final Fantasy Legend II? Same thing!

STORIES

To match up with the fact that the player must now find characters for the party instead of going to a guild and getting hooked up with the party, I have greatly improved the story with twists and turns. The story before was more like you just keep plodding along going to new places and killing what needs to be killed. Now there is more of a direction thanks to the Quest Log Script. Here is an example:



HOMETOWN of TAKEMAN
- you cannot leave town unless you have a weapon
- pops (father character) will give you his prized pocket knife if you prove yourself to him (there are many ways)
- when you get the pocket knife something major happens and you are sent to the king

KING LORIK'S CASTLE of TANTEGEL
- the king is a great man that will help anyone
- the king's guards protect him from everyone
- find a way to see the king (there are many ways, maybe 4 of them to see the king)

NEW ALIAHAN
- 1 of those ways is to speak with queen kalysta
- she sends you to scare away a peeping tom looking at her daughter from across the moat
- you must persuade him to stop watching, without killing him
- with queen kalysta's blessing you can visit the king

... twists and turns without giving anything away



THE SCRIPT (from other people):

- quest log script (heavily modified to work with my quest system) ATORIA

bug testing

Because the game has a new system where you assign your own stats (V.10) I am having to do some leveling, testing and other interesting things to the game. Grafikal is doing a great job play testing for me and going through a lot of the quests.

The other tricky part is the fact that now each character has a story behind how they meet the player that is conflicting some things. Instead of a quick and easy guild like the other versions, you have to work to get people on your side.

There is more of a story to kick off the game too. A story that will take you through the main plot of the game. Before it was more like you could fall into the main plot or totally avoid it. Now there is more of a focus.

To keep track of the 70-90 quests there is now a Quest Log in the main menu. It is really nice! I have typed information for 20 of the 70 - 90 quests and I am discovering that a lot of the things I have in the game are not "quests" as much as they are "fun things to do." Like reviving the merchant in the first cave and buying the power bracelet from him so you can push blocks. That is not a quest, but it is a fun thing to do.

Fresh

V.10 will be a fresh step from V.9. There is a new start village, more of a story as to how you get your party instead of visiting a guild. You will get to assign stat points.

In the new start town, there is 18 minutes of gameplay before you even leave the town. Maybe that is a good thing or a bad thing, time will tell.

The game is really turning out so nice!

Mage Guild Quests

Wow this site has gotten 50 downloads in the past week that I've had a link up here instead of my site's download link. That says a lot.

More people have submit things for V.10 whenever it comes out. New towns, quirky things.

Most importantly I've been making guild quests. I now have 6 Mage Guild Quests for the amazing guild house that Grafikal came up with.

I am also going through to kill some bugs:

PLACES script should not have where you are going anymore
Jesters do not return to normal
King of Ravana should be happy!
Evil Jester does not appear...
Queen of Ravana should have more to say
King / Queen / Prince / Princess Treasures
Guards must have ... nothing to say
MAID: Take the king's hospitality. I know I sure did!
Man behind king is an old woman
Places should be centered and black
Red sky should always be red no matter what
Dialog of Teddy should be in blue
Ravana garden needs some blockers
Bit of a ladder in the bowels of Ravana
Book in frozen passage
