A sweet little game with simple graphics and music. Play as Ivy, a lonely little girl living in a very pink town who has received a letter from her dear old friend. Ivy must find items and complete a series of tasks in order to see her again. Includes many ghosts, trees, a convenience store, a narcoleptic ghost hunter, and a punk who's in love with a donut witch.

A small RPG Maker 2003 game that I made over the summer to see if I had the guts to make a game. Completed earlier last month and fixed a few bugs. First game of a color-themed series.

A little update

Hey everyone, sorry for going inactive for over a year. I guess my only excuses are that I was dealing with a bunch of real life troubles and wanted to focus more on my artwork. That and I was too lazy to touch RPG Maker. Anyway, I've been inspired lately, so I've been slowly planning out a new game. I hope I can make it a lot better than VPG was. Thanks for your patience!

Also, a little while ago I teamed up with one of the creators of Melon Journey and collab'd on a game called Potluck. Check it out if ya want!

This... was strangely compelling. I'll be keeping an eye out if you intend to make more of the series.

(the citizens of Pink have excellent animations by the way)
Some small bugs I found, along with a comment about your empty title screen

empty title scren? ok, some words would be nice but whatever

no music on the title screen and first 3 maps. I went into the editor to add it, much better.

typo in Peach's opening dialogue, extra space "I dropped my pearl pendant..."

when I gave the pend-er trinket back, some of the sentences didn't have periods.

and after giving it back and getting some of her pie, I was able to talk to the sink and get the trinket again.

there seems to be many missing periods

the shopkeeper is asking for help and there is an extra space in front " I was at the park to have breakfast..."

the first guy you see when going in the park looks weird. his eye and part of his face isn't moving with the rest of him. it looks odd.

at the beach, the person near the start has a non capitolized i in their dialogue. "I wasted my whole summer... and when i finally decide..."

in the ghost forest, the ghost guards dialogue has a period without a space after it "only ghosts and witches are allowed in here.you seem pretty dark..."

then after noticing you have repellent, his line is missing a word it seems like "Hold on for a sec... Uh, what do have to do again?"

he then says he's one of 3, but guardians is spelled wrong. check the others, i think they all have it spelled wrong.

when you get past jimmy fries, on the next map, in the bottom left corner a tile from a tree is missing.

on this same map, it seems like there are tiles missing along the top. its empty space on the pink side then on the green side there are tiles along the top. *after looking in the editor I see there are no tiles for up there. there should be!*

same map, about halfway into the green side there is a tree missing a tile.

even for a short game, saving is a good idea. if I have to leave suddenly and I did some stuff it would suck to have to do it over again.

Is this really your first game? You got everything right. No glaring gameplay issues. You even used switches to alter dialogue. Slow walk speed can be irritating if the maps are too large and there is a lot of back-tracking. You had a good balance, just keep that in mind.

Rooms were spacious, not empty, and had things. They all felt full of life from the characters personalities and the dialogues.

I genuinely laughed many times xD that's pretty rare for me.

The graphics are the best part, imo. I love pixels and this kind of style is right up my alley. The NPCs are all unique and like psy_wombats said, they have excellent animations. All so quirky.

Did you compose the music yourself? They weren't full, quite bare actually, but they set the mood perfectly. Matches the graphics. What about the sound effects? Is this fully custom?

There's a lot of extra files in your download, it looks like the RTP is included. It's mostly the unused music files that inflate the download size. It's not huge, but since you didn't use any RTP(right?) you can setup the game so it doesn't need RTP. If you care, I can explain how.

Despite being all pink and girly, I really enjoyed everything about this game. Keep it up! ^.^
Looks pretty cool to me, downloaded!
Came across this on tumblr a few weeks ago and downloaded. Short, sweet and charming, really enjoyed it. :3
The color palette and art style reminds me of one of my favorite indie games: Tanakas Adventure.

Very Pink Game by Sheepherds

A very wonderful, Very Pink Game about meeting an old friend. The lovely color scheme rounds out the pink with black and white, a bleached kind of cuteness like the bones of a birthday cake.

Each character has a single trait adorably conveyed: slumped over from drinking too much ginger ale, tuckered out from hunting ghosts, or poised over a sink aghast at losing a ring that only little girl hands can reach. And of course, they’re all waiting for you to fix their problems.

A Very Pink Game is perfect. Not perfect as describing amplitude, not perfect by some ludicrous 10/10 numeric standard, just perfect in that everything comes together to be the perfect example of itself. It is a circle.

The wandering inside other people’s houses thing that games do actually works here because you’re a curious little girl, not a threatening guy with a sword. How charming.

Do you have the Rpg Maker 2003 RTP installed? You need it to run most 2003 games.
this game looks so cute but i cant seem to get it to work !

You need to explain in more detail what your problem is. What are you doing and what is happening when you do it?
hi!! um whenever i try to run the game a window shows up saying "The file system2c cannot be opened." is there any way to fix this?

You need to install the RPG Maker 2003 RTP. Do a google search for that and you should find it right away. Ok, so apparantly a working download for that is rare.

There are 2 possible solutions without installing the RTP.

1- The easiest method is to open up the RPG_RT.ini file in notepad or wordpad, and add the following line:

FullPackageFlag=0

Save it and try to run the game. As long as the creator included all game files in the download, this should work.

However, sometimes they don't, and you will continue to get the same error message. Without undoing the change to the .ini file, try this next method.

2- Add a file with the same name as what is reported in the error message.

The message is saying that a file is missing, so if you put it back the game will work.

This might be hard to do if you are unfamiliar with how the engine works, because they need to go in the right folder. I'm referring to the folders called; Backdrop, Battle, Battle2... Some are obvious, like system2c for example. It goes in the folder called system. You might ask "is it system or system2", and the answer is "put it in both. one of them will be right". There nothing wrong with putting a file in the wrong folder. So if you are unsure, put the file in every folder and it will work.

As for the file to put in, technically I think it doesn't matter, as long it's an image with that name. But you can find many files online that match the "type" http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index.php?autocom=gallery&req=sc&cat=6. If you were to put in an image of a cat you pulled of the internet, it would either not display properly or show bits of the cat in place of a game graphic. So at least try to find an appropriate image.

If you do that, and it works, but gives another error message for a different file. Do a google search "rpg maker 2003 nameoffileinerror" and you should see what the file looks like. I did a search for "rpg maker 2003 system2c" and found it.

I've never actually done that, never needed to, but in theory it should work. Unless it looks for the files in the usual RTP location which is C:/Program Files/rpg2003/RTP. But as long as you have the FullPackageFlag line in there, it should only look within it's own folder.

Anyways, I know that sounds complicated but it will work and if you have troubles post again or even message me directly.

i need help!! i followed all of what Link_2112 said and it's still not working for me :( what do i do?
edit: also it says for me the system2c thing... please help me!
To fix the error "system2c cannot be opened", download this file

http://rpgmaker.net/media/content/users/9179/locker/fix.zip

Extract the two things things from it. They needs to go in the same folder as the RRG_RT.exe file. It should ask to replace the .ini file, say yes. The system2 folder was missing from the main download.
