Today's nutshell is going to discuss something pretty common among other games. But, well, it still has its own logic in Cruna Aktrid. Today's menu is about elements. Elements aren't that prominent, actually. Each attack of differing elements provides different properties, but knowing elemental weaknesses will help, too.

In the game's world, there are 6 major elements that affect combat: Heat, Cold, Wind, Earth, Light, and Dark. These elements don't represent any form of good and evil, they just co-exist each other to keep the world running. These 6 elements, however, can be grouped in 2 categories: dawn elements and dusk elements. Grouped as such since a pair of elements cancels each other.

The element chart, represents relationships of elements.

Dawn elements and dusk elements, of course, cancel the respective pair. Heat and cold, wind and earth, light and dark, these pairs neutralize each other to none. But besides light and dark, these elements have dominance upon each other. Heat absorbs wind, wind manipulates cold, cold destroys earth, and earth extinguishes heat. This is how elements relate to each other.

But above is almost irrelevant in actual combat

In battle, these element-against-element thing doesn't work since in battle it's about body against the element. It can apply to some enemies, but there might be some enemies that ironically weak against the element that it's controlling too. A machine? They can be weak against cold. Fire-breathing scholar rabbits? Flames burn their books with them, sadly.

Fight fire with fire... Ironic.

Each elements have their own quirks in attack patterns:

Heat is straightforward in offense. Its line of attack mostly linear and easy to predict. They kick good too.

Light(ning) has the best punches around. In exchange, however, they're tricky to use like lobbing them and strikes in a weird pattern. Isn't as costly as heat, though.

Wind is pretty much easy to master and straightforward to use. However, they don't kick pretty much...

Earth is a little tricky, but they sure do cover many areas! Don't hope them to punch that much.

Cold is straightforward too, but isn't that strong. However, they can halt the victim's movement. Neat, huh?

Dark is as tricky as light, but not as strong. They ought to weaken their prey, hopefully.

Initially, the main characters don't need to care about the elements against themselves. But most equipments give some effect to their affinity against the elements. Get careless and the element will make less effort to vanquish you.
