dungeon solution guide

1. Nocturnal shrine

1F:
Change the display in background from
sun to moon or vice versa by
activating a pair of switches..

B1:
Control the orbital cycle of each lunar phase to match the corresponding background. Remember each celestial body
appears below the horizon, so the opposite may be true. If default position does not work, complete one full cycle until moon
icon returns to same position and try again :}

(variable registers a complete cycle
or 360 degrees.)

Kentona makes some good games :D
I see nothing about this game which would make me wish to play it.
First of all, I'd like to applogize for saying to many things, and having so few positive things to say.

There are several areas that need BIG improvement
1. Character speed. The character moves sluggishly through the maps. No one wants to play a game where it takes forever to get around!
2. Defination of boundaries. You can literally walk through solid objects and walls to get to other places. This would be a good thing if there were secret passages, but it's a very bad thing in that you're able to do it EVERYWHERE. This is just coding sloppiness.
3. There are places like the boat, once you go on it you can't disembark
4. The color scheme is kinda werid in places
5. Plot. Why is it that you can't go into town during the day? That's just strange.
6. You can walk into a fireplace and get burned. Why?
7. Characters/ conversations. The ninja in the bar asks you the EXACT same question about wanting to know a secret after you get back into town. You've already saved the mayor!
8. Resetting puzzles should be able to be done by a switch, vs. having to walk all the way out of the dungeon.
9. Puzzles were a bit vague. I had to try this, that, and the other to get something to work. Provide more clues to what needs to be done.

Some areas that I'm impressed with
1. Mapping transitions are far and few between. This really gives a cohesive feel to the world (but it is destroyed by the fact that you can walk through walls
2. Enemies are relatively easy (in what I played) to defeat. Though I'd rather see them on screen, even if they rematerialized after a certain amount of time, so the player can avoid them if they want to do so.

Thanks alot, I really appreciate the good advice, pointers and tips regarding certain aspects of the game. XD.

1a. ok I agree. The character gets a nice speed boost by riding airballoons, monorails, trains/trollys
or after reaching the conclusion of the game.
2a. The dungeon walls are pretty solid as far as I'm concerned. In the mainlands however lots of
shortcuts are present so the hero can navigate large expanses of terrain.
3. Try disembarking on lighter shades of water where the depth is walkable except for the bridge where
the hero must leap vertically to cross the gap.
4. cool.
5. The hero can't enter town areas during pre-dawn hours until mid-morning. > 8
Many shops don't open until late-morning. >10
6. Actually thats a funny glitch intended for that purpose.
7. The characters' dialogue update quite often like every dungeon so be sure to check once hero
returns to similar towns/ regions of interest.
Ex: Once Hero visits elder in his house after rescuing him he grants permission to leave town,
then game progresses to the next level. A new save-point also appears.
8. I agree, There are Reset switches that exist in later dungeons {2,4,5,6,7,8,10} Goodluck!
In first dungeon, A warp panal was provided to ensure the elder returns safely without having to trek alot.
9. l agree, sometimes clues were vague but enough info is provided to solve them.
i.e: lol, there are only 4*2 = 8 combinations for the sun-moon puzzle.

1b. Don't worry, most of common glitches such as passing through walls or corners were patched
in many areas including large main-world maps.

2b. The experience curve was adjusted so hero gains exp pretty quickly.

Version 2 now available to play!
Alot improvements made, still rooted in the classics.
benos
My mind is full of fuck.

The same magequest?. I remember playing this on a dvd that was in pcpowerplay.
Version 2.1 now available!
A few corrections/updates made.
Version 2.4 now available.
A few additional errors corrected.
Status: completed (version 2.7)
All videos available.
I started playing this and just realized I had started playing it before. Twice lol. Guess that's the downfall of rtp games with generic titles, but I will say I do enjoy some aspects of it. I think the dungeons are kinda fun to romp through, and I have a soft spot for RPGs that just kinda start without much direction or without cutscenes of the hero babbling nonsense with characters that don't matter. It gives it a real "roleplaying" feel, very oldschool, which I like.

I'm going to attempt to review it (and hopefully beat it). The game has one really shitty ragequit review, and one half decent ragequit review, which is kinda misleading and not giving the game a fair chance. There are some decent aspects to the game, despite the obvious inexperience you had at the time of its creation.

I would also like to commend you on all the changes you've made to it over the years. There were a lot of complaints here that I never ran into with the new version (i.e. slow walk speed) so my playthrough has been rather smooth so far.

EDIT: Submitted my review! I'll be sure to check out the sequels as well.
