Brief summary: Retrobe, protect it at all costs. Trapped in a chaotic fork manufacturing facility, you fight against the scrap buildup of robots and the factory itself in order to prevent the Atomizer from attaining the Retrobe. With it, he would be given access to the universe's power, and finally achieve the goal he's been waiting for...

When I got the idea for this game, I instantly started working on the story of it. I have come up with quite a bit in the past few months, and I am determined to make my dreem a reality. This game will bring off a life of it's own.

Programming language and ide: Visual Studio c# 2010 with the xna framework 4.0

Back-Story

The Grace. Protectors of humanity, guardians of the Retrobe.

It all started when a man named the Atomizer came in contact with the retrobe. This artifact, he realized, could give him access to the universe's power. He stole the retrobe, and when he activated it, his conciousness was connected to the artifact. The Grace have tried stopping him, but his power gave him abilities no one could stop.

Although, the Grace knew that anyone who uses the artifact seems to take a side effect. Usually your mind isn't ready for the power your conciousness recieves, so you either die, or go mad. The Atomizer went mad, and could not access the Retrobes pure power.

When the Grace sent out the Artifact's protectors, Uniter Alpha as the leader came face to face with the Atomizer. Alpha was able to nearly defeat him, and the Atomizer, seeing his weakness, knew he could not win. He then found an escape, but at the same time, putting his soul in a prison.

In a bright flash of light, the atomizer evaporated, leaving the Retrobe to materialize onto the ground. The Grace have thought that the Atomizer was dead, but unavoidably, civilizations suddenly started to tear down. It seemed to the Grace that planets tore themselves to peaces with no heart in mind of anything. The Grace soon found out that the Atomizer had not died, but rather disconnected from the artifact to connect his soul to the dimension in which the conciousness of every being originates. The Atomizer was never able to escape, but was still able to overthrow the conciousness of beings to access their bodies in the normal universe.

The Grace have found a hope though, one that may defeat the Atomizer. They went to the humans, who in which were the only species that are mysteriously connected to the artifact. Because of this, they were never able to be controled by the Atomizer, and with this connection to the Retrobe, may be able to use it's potential. Although, the Grace will have to wait until someone's mind is ready for the power it would give them,

but when someone is worthy, they will be able to stop the Atomizer once and for all!

Main-Story

You, Uniter Alpha, wake up from a hibernation pod after an alert call that has been triggered by a disturbance in the Fork co. Factory.

This factory has originated when the Grace have wanted to be closer and unoticed to the humans, and at the same time, able to safely hide the Retrobe. You rush down into your ship in hope that something hasn't gone wrong.

The world's governments and the Grace have formed a secret treaty to protect the artifact, but if something does happen that deals with the Retrobe, Uniter Alpha is the first one to be notified. Something must have happened.

When you reach the factory and go down the elevator, it suddenly stops, and crashed down. You wake up in a heap of rubble, but the as you look at your communicator, you find that someone is inside the artifact's teleportation chamber. You rush to the room to unlock it, and once opened and inside, you realize no one is around. You look on your communicator to see it's gone blank.

That's when you suddenly start moving forward with no control. You hear a maniacle laughter in the back of your head saying how long he's waited for this. You then realize that the Atomizer has found a way to control you, and your body starts to move towards the Retrobe teleportation stand.

As it is activated, you fight for your control, but find it's no use, for the lights around you suddenly glow yellow to signify that the Retrobe has teleported safely. You instantly regain control (since anyone near the artifact starts to resist the Atomizer's power), and you realize that this was the Atomizer's plan in the first place,

and he starts telling you that he wants to free himself and get the Retrobe back.

GamePlay

Story:
As an adventure platformer, Retrobe is highly focused both on story, and on exploration. You go throughout the factory playing many interconnected storylines involving different characters to role play as. Each choice you make as that character will alter how the storyline goes through it's transitions, but untimately leading to a main conclusion.

Exploration Mechanics:
Each character you play as has an entire area of the factory to explore and find new things. The Factory consists of many chambers you choose to go through in order to get to a general chamber for the main mission. There may also be different pathways leading to separate chambers that lead to this general chamber. When you reach any chamber, you activate a teleporter that allows you to go back to the same exact chamber you have discovered.

Safe Haven, crafting, and knowledge:
This is a special chamber that you may come back to whenever you have access to a teleporter. At the safe haven, you can use the research station to unlock purpleprints (which are somewhat similar to blueprints) to have the ability to create weapons and items out of materials that you may find. Some purpleprints are aquired when you find physical purpleprint items. An alternative way is to collect knowledge and "spend it" on purpleprints that were previously locked. To gain knowledge, you can: discover chambers, complete chambers, break down items, create items, defeat enemies, read a research paper (an item), etc.

Inventory and Items:
Individual characters you play as have their own inventory to collect items. To aquire items you may create them, break down items into scrap items, or find items around the map. Some items you may find could be weapons, armor cloths, chemical canisters for creation of items, health packs, or even a metalic poptart!

Companions and Vehicles:
You may come across special chambers that allow you to drive vehicles. Throughout the game, you may find upgrade items of specific vehicles that you can attach in the Safe Haven Garage. You may also find certain items to attach to mobs to make them your companions. Obviously though, you can't always attach it to bosses, but you can attach, say, a special computer chip to a robot to make it your companion. If your companion dies, you recieve whatever that was attached to it, including upgrade items, along with what the mob usually drops when you kill it as an enemy.

There may be more to come...

Update 1: Rotation mechanic and news

Well, I kind of forgot about the weekly updates. Truly though, there wasn't much to update on. Although, I'm starting to get back on track.

Aaaaaaannnnnnnd......

I FINALLY GOT THE ROTATIONS OF THE ARM TO WORK!
They've worked before, but I've refined it to work with handheld items that require exact precision from the firing point of a gun to the mouse. Although, his arm seems to freak out when the mouse gets too close to it... But I suspected this would happen, and I know how to fix it. (it wouldn't be hard at all actually...)

PIC!

Also, I worked a bit on the zooming. I should probably apply the zooming to the actual mobs too...
