Story

You have been been warped to the past into the continent of Crystal. The people that have called you back are under the control of an evil tyrant named Nark. His ambition is to find the world of magic to become all powerful. The people have prayed for a way to stop him, and the world of magic answered their call; a magical sword floated down from the sky. The sword can only be wielded by chosen humans, and Nark is one of them. In a great panic, 8 mages split the sword into pieces and hid them in 8 Power Balls. They would be scattered throughout the world, while the people prayed that a legendary hero would find and unite them. That hero was not in their time, so a great mage summoned and found you, the hero that can wield the sword. Your quest is to travel the land and find the 8 Power Balls, so they could unite and become the Power Sword. Explore forests, caves, mountains, and even the sky to collect them all. Only the Power Sword can defeat the evil Nark.

Release Something Weekend Download

My demo is finally out, and staying up all night with 2 hours of sleep, is making me jittery. The mountain is a work in progress, but the forest is pretty nice. I am very excited that Crystal Catch has its first public release.

If you find anything wrong, let me know, and I'll fix it right away.

I found a serious bug when exiting the house of the old man who gives you the location of the water powerball:

The only way you can move is down, which returns you inside of the house! So basically you're stuck ...

Ha hah hah. I found it too when I was playing it. (I feel like a real dummy) I fixed it and I will release the update when I fix up a map or 2. (And fixing up all of the beta test notes.) Thanks for showing that to me. :)

No problem! That's one of those WTFs???
Shocked me too. I hope you didn't grind too much when finding that (Without saving). I'll release an update by tonight with more balanced stuff too.

Well, RSW is all about feedback, so...I have to say, none of this is personal, but it's an honest opinion. And it's pretty harsh, I'm afraid.
-Mapping is pretty bad. The starter room is unnecessarily huge and with next to no detail. I’m pretty sure those white tiles are supposed to be vertical walls and not borders :x
-God, this enemy repeats itself WAYYYY too much.
-…The writing is pretty bad, I have to say. I just got dumped a bunch of “you have to do this” and my character doesn’t even have a reply?...Ok.
-Yeah, the interior mapping is REALLY terrible. The rooms and empty and featureless and big, what the heck.
-I died in two encounters, where all I did was attack (because that’s the only thing I CAN do).
-…really? AGAIN? In full health I go against a fucking SEED and I’m killed? Are you expecting me to actually GRIND these boring attack only battles until I level up, or something? At ONE exp per enemy? And going back to heal after every fight?...Becuase no, that is not going to happen -.- (grinded like 5 fights, no level, I give the fuck up, this is too boring).
-………I need to equip things to get magic, but they cost 100+ coins. An enemy gives me ONE COIN. Not going to grind that, as I’m not going to grind levels.
-If I go to the forest I get killed at level 1, but I’m not abut to grind my way up, so I think I’m done.

It’s…pretty bad. Writing is lacking all around, interior maps are bare and too big, exterior maps are sort of okay but rather bland.
Battles are a boring and seem pretty unbalanced. There is no strategy to them and, if I understand it correctly, you are expected to grind for unhealthy amounts, which I am certainly not going to do, because I have no reason to enjoy combat.

Maybe you feel like “it will get better later”, but to a player that won’t matter. If it does not make me want to play it from the get go, I will never get to the “good” parts.

It’s…bad. It will need a lot of work, but in any case, good luck with your game! I hope this feedback, even as harsh as it is, can help you at all.
The feedback is helpful. It gives me a list on what to think about. I do have plenty of work to do. I thought I fixed the tutorial, but I'll give the download version and my version another look. I'm playing other RM games to get better at making my game.

Thanks for playing and providing feedback.

Hiatus? A pity.

Putting this on hiatus was something I had to admit to myself.

I actually made a new game called "Don't Kill the CEO" as a short project on RPG Maker MZ. Once I fix the patches,I'll publish it on RMN. I want to get better on smaller games, and once I get my confidence back, I can work on Crystal Catch proudly for this is my flagship game.
