The Wedding

PLEASE GO TO THE FINISHED GAME PROFILE: http://rpgmaker.net/games/5652/

This is the demo that has bugs and errors. The finished version is at : http://rpgmaker.net/games/5652/

Please head over to that link for the finished version of the game.

Anima and Metus' parents are finally getting married on Uncle Jack's property. Anima loves the wedding but Metus isn't too excited to stay and wants to go explore the woods behind the wedding. The two children both walk deep into the property finding a odd shed that holds unfathomable horrors and secrets kept from the world.

This project was done by three people. It is the first game we have ever created and we are very excited for people to play it and give us their thoughts on our project.

Controls:
Arrows Keys - Movement
Space Bar - Use/Accept/Interact
Escape - Opens Menu

Installing The Game:

For people who do not own RPG Maker XP you can still play this.

Step One - Extract the folder to your desktop (or where ever you like).
Step Two - Install xp_rtp104e. This is what contains most of the content.
Step Three - Extract/Install The Wedding by double clicking on it and placing it where you extracted the rar (should be set as default).
Step Four - Go to where you extracted/installed The Wedding and double click Game. Now enjoy!

The Wedding Demo Version 1.1:
Added a new Title Screen.
You can use all items now rather than being a mix of menu use and interacting.
Edited many bits of text.
Added a few more sound effects.
Added footsteps. You now move slower during most of the demo.
Added Readme text file.
Moved atmospheric events out of the direct path of the player. (E.g moved the blood spawn points.)

I love the look of this, I think I'll give it a go when I have some time later.

Downloading now!
Awesome, thanks for downloading! I can't wait to hear some responses :D.
I'm writing this as I play.

The intro feels a little abrupt maybe a little more movement? You could probably start with the sound of a door when the game turns on. Then have the characters run to the middle of the hall and start talking so you get the feeling they were exploring before they start talking. There are small grammar mistakes here and there. Thankfully, this is readable. Actually very readable I'm definitely captivated enough to want to play it so far. Hmmm... your NPCs are a little useless I think I'll refer you to this article - some of them are actually pretty interesting though. I'm a little concerned as to why Annie doesn't react to the way out be sealed shut. MOTHERUGGUSJS birdie. Well, that scared me. Thank you note for me warning me too late, ugh... You may want to put the birdie a little further away from the door that the note so people have the warning more easily available. By the way, can you survive that? I kind of just flipped shit and didn't move so I didn't really check. Ugh after the birdie thing that lights coming on scared me. Despite the qualms I had with your other maps, pretty much all of these are really nice, good job! Found a glitch. If you fill up you bottle with fuel before getting the red goo you get two items - the bottle with fuel and the bottle with red goo. Question marks may be more appropriate than an ellipse for the mystery guy. The blood when you're running away appears over the character rather than under her when you walk on it. Annie disappears after you run away and she's talking. Was that intentional? You can step on the logs in the swamp. Also, yeah, the other swamp map is a little weird too. Your indoor ones were exquisite. You may want to make item use more consistent - in the beginning of the game you had to select the items you wanted to use from your inventory but in the swamp you just interact with the stuff in your inventory and if you have the items you'll interact that way. Either way is fine, just be consistent.

And it's over. There were grammar things to fix and a glitch or two, and your outside maps can work. All in all, I enjoyed it though! I'll definitely look out for the second part.
Thank you SOOOO much for the feedback !!! Actually I have fixed about 80% of those errors last night (Glass Bottle bug, grammar mistakes, edited Annie's responses, changed the blood so they are always on the floor.). But I haven't updated the download link yet because I have been working on the rest of the game. Outside is truly where I start to panic... I am SOO bad at doing outside areas, I should probably look into tutorials on landscaping outside areas.

The bird... :D. I am glad you liked it!
The idea behind the bird is when you see both the bird and the note, you kind of contemplate if you should go to one or the other, I wanted to see how people would react to the bird if they didn't get the note. But thanks for the suggestion for moving the bird, I might put it on the opposite side of the room.

As for the cat (if you interacted with it), it will re-appear in the rest of the game as save points, rather than events triggering saves, the cat will be your only save point.

I have fixed a lot of the cut scenes but I think they could still be fixed and reworked. Stepping on logs in the swamp is intentional, I think the only log you can stand on is the one you need to cut in half, Anima stands on the log so she has a better position to strike it :).

Again thank you soooooooooo much for responding! Its amazing to get good feedback :).
You're very welcome! Also, I was going to refer you to an article but then the birdie broke me. It was about having better NPC dialogue:

I'm having problems with the game, when you reach the part with the statues and have to use an axe on one of them, the game completely freezes. I can't do anything. I've tried to retry it several times, but I don't know what else to do. Any ideas? Thanks!
This is the demo, the real version of the game has been linke in the description, click on that and try the full version :)
