The Last Blog of 2014 for LoTL

I've been plugging away like crazy at this for the last few days and I'm happy to say that the Prologue and Chapter One are finally complete ( though not tested fully yet >< ) and my current playthrough just gave me so maaaany feels. Clocking in at just under 9.5 hours, TriAnna finally had their BDK ( but you'll have to wait until the game's release to see it, no sneak peeks! ) and the Order is in full flow with their rebellion.

A LOT of drama happens towards the end of Chapter One.

And Chapter Two starts off with Tristian and Ronin ( leader of the Blue Order ) at loggerheads again.

As for gameplay, Darcy and Lance are coming pretty close to 'promotion' time and I was wondering what sort of classes to give them. Actually, after they attempt a rescue mission, they'll both become a lot stronger as characters, since its currently the 'Tristian' show.

Yeah, those two really need to promote soon...

Lance is currently an unskilled conscript who has the innate 'Pharmacology' trait ( if I had a script for this, I would totally make his new class an Alchemist, or a paladin-type unit that buffs allies and debuffs enemies by combining certain items etc. ) but no such luck. The site that housed all the neat VX scripts is now dead ( R.I.P VX.net ;_; ).

As for Darcy, she can either become a swordswoman like Ira ( gets critical buffs and can use every sword save preferential ones ) or a Ninja ( dual-wields light weapons, gets massive evade-boosting party wide buffs, debuffs foes, throws bombs etc. etc. ) but her PWR stat is pretty shoddy at the moment, so I need to find some way of countering that ( then again, I have Tristy and she's like two powerhouses in one ).

So I need a couple of suggestions there. ><

I won't mind someone helping me out in the battle department if they have VX, are passionate about the game and have played at least one Persona game ( to understand that PTB system ). Ooo er... Bit much, isn't it?

As for visuals, the game is still as purdy as ever, but I have been messing about with some new tints.

Oh right. These two appear towards the beginning of Chapter Two. Addit's favourite dude in the whole world XD.

So yes. Exciting things are happening at the moment and even though I can't give a definite release date, it is defs coming out in 2015! And I want to give a big thank you to all my subscribers fans/loyalists etc, lol. As the title says, this
will most probably be my last blog for the year and what an amazing year it has been!

I finished not one, not two, but THREE completed games, got my 3000+ MS, Enelysion topped 250,000 views ( got Featured ), Tristy has now passed 75,000 mark and wrote my first ever review ( it was for Linus, for those of you who are interested XD ).

Onwards to 2015, RMN Soldiers! And thank you again!

Ninja is easy. Load her up with skills that're extremely useful in specific applications. Smoke Bombs for AGI boosts, Jutsus for cheap elemental damage, that sort of thing. If you command it, I'll give you a shopping list of Ninja'y skill ideas (but I don't have any Persona experience ._.)

Swordswoman is a tougher nut if PWR isn't her thing. Her game will be attacking, but her attack will only be relevant if she crits. That doesn't make for a reliable party member. Crit boosts should be to make a hard hitter hit harder.
You could give her some proc bonuses, like FE Assassin's Silencer/Lethality skill or plain old 33% to Stun/Paralyze/Blind. Increased numbers of hits per turn could help her capitalize on enemies with low defense. I'm not sure if Counterattack skills (like in Romancing SaGa 3) would work in your CBS, but I'd recommend them if they're doable.
Awesome Swordswoman-only swords might work as well, but that would tend to make players double up for "another Tristy/Ira".
If all else fails, give her a slew of attack skills that don't depend on PWR. Come to think of it, a single AGI-based damage skill could make the class worthwhile by itself. Players love optimization, and having a character who absorbs all that mostly-useless AGI++ equipment could be a hit.
BEM does allow me to make skills that use different stats ( like dex-based and agi-based damage for example ) but I'm worried it might make Darcy a little too OP'ed, lol ( since her SPD is sky-high ) since it also me to make weapons in the same vein ( like making her knives use her dex/agi stat instead of strength; they give her an EVA buff at least ). Otherwise, she can just dodge the hell out of everything and watch in amusement how the enemies try to hit her ( was thinking of making a 'Decoy' skill as well, where Darcy would use it on herself after she's equipped with the game's highest Evade boosting armour and make the sole target for every foe XD).

Buffing one stat over 100% is always awesome to see. Having 100%+ Evade on Darcy was equally hilarious.
Another thing you could try is stylizing her Swordswoman class a little differently. If Tristian/Ira is the usual high physical damage, high critical brand of sword user, then Darcy could go like FF5's Magic Knight with elemental imbuings on her weapon, or like Meliadoul's Mighty Sword from FFT, damaging stats as well as HP.
That is a thought, but it would probably still rely a bit on her PWR/Str stat. I'm thinking of making her go the Ninja route, but because players like options and customisation, I'll make both the Ninja/Swordswoman classes a promotion route for Darcy. Knives do sucks as weapons, but the innate Evade is always nice to have.

As a party member, Darcy is still more useful than Lance as a Thief, even if she can't do much damage, since that isn't her speciality. Ah, yes. Lance. I need to make this guy viable as well. He can either promote into a Paladin or Great Knight, depending on your play-style. The Paladin would be your typical buffer with access to healing magic but lower power, whereas the Great Knight could focus on debuffing stats ( if Darcy doesn't take the Swordie route ) and HP-thieving.
Siglud’s definitely one of my favorites! And if he’s happy in this game after three years of marital bliss – then so am I. :)

Actually, to be honest, I’m actually quite surprised that he’s even manage to last that long, especially being settled down to someone like Laine (must be the good ol’ Siglud charm).

Anyways, I look forward to seeing what you can do in 2015. But...just don’t work too hard, though. ^^

Well, the idea is to offset her lacking PWR by taking advantage of enemy weaknesses on an as-needed basis. Unlike Tristian or anybody else who would need to waste a turn equipping a Fire Sword, Darcy could unload Fire Slash immediately. It'd come in handy for convenience factor if you had a dungeon filled with enemies of wildly different weaknesses. It could also be directed toward enemy types too, like Beasts and Ethereals.

With Lance, it sounds like you have a good idea of what to do with him. A Paladin as party leader was made cliche by Cecil, but they're still awesome party members. Great Knight is hard to muck up, but just remember to give him something distinctive or he'll wind up being redundant (if Tristian is already powerhouse enough).
Hmm. So Darcy would be a bit like a Spellsword/Spellblade, eh? I'm thinking of using her DEX-stat for her skills as well ( if I use her SPD/AGI stat, her skills may end up being just a little too strong. ) Those fire/ice/wind-based skills could be useful indeed. The next area that the group is traversing is chock-full of nasty beast/birdie-type enemies.

Oh, another problem I came across is that my chars are just levelling up far too slow ( Tristy I can understand though. Anyone who has played Fire Emblem knows how long pre-promotes take to level up ). Comparison-wise, Laine and co. were already in the mid-20s some 9+ hours in Enelysion. This group ( as seen in the screenshot in the blog ) are still sitting under level 20. So I need to jack up the EXP being doled out by foes.
