Schools out! Lets go break into a haunted house!

Town of Illustive is an episodic game of which so far one episode is complete. It needs a bit more polishing but it is generally a solid play experience. Let's take a quick look at some aspects of the game.

Story
Being episodic makes it harder to really to comment on the story because I lack the overall perspective but what I can say is that so far the story feels bland. There plenty of un-addressed plot points e.g. the cameras, the phones being able to track where each other is (but then they don't use them when people go missing), again they might be addressed in future episodes but right now they remain un-addressed. The episode ends with a plot twist which is fairly obvious though at one point during the play through I had wondered if it was a red herring, purely because it is clear as day by the time the reveal happens.

One thing that did annoy me through out were the dialogue errors e.g. "4 out of 4 member alive," I hope in future versions these will be corrected.

Graphics
For the most part mapping is fine, it's all functional but there are odd things in odd places e.g. bookshelves in a pantry.

Gameplay
The game suffers here due to a lack of gameplay and sometimes inconsistency. It is slow to let you control the player and when you do... It's time to pick up clothes and rubbish. Later on there are some indicators to show you what you can interract with but you don't have them at the start which was a bit jarring. They are also not the easiest thing in the world to see. One point if the gameplay is just clicking on all the interactable objects then having the indicators removes any real investigation opportunities. I can understand that it could be frustrating for players if they're missing one thing e.g. a camera placement but I do think the implementation requires more thought. Maybe you could have them appear after a certain time has passed on the map? Or have an optional hint mode where they appear?

Et cetera
I hope this doesn't read too negatively as the game does show potential, it is bland but if future plot points develop the story well then that could change. The gameplay isn't bad but could be improved. The game is fairly average but for the most part it's solid.

Anyway here's my playthrough if you are interested.

I love the video review, man. I hope that you're as thorough as this with your other reviews because it's pretty awesome that you care enough to go into all this trouble. ^_^

You are also very entertaining on the microphone and have a marvelous British accent that reminds me of Yogscast. You should do LP's more often. Your voice is amazing ^_^
At the moment I intend to do this with every game from the contest, time permitting. Fun fact all 3 judges are British this time round!

As for my voice specifically I hate how I sound recorded (just like everyone else in the world).
