NOTE: There might be spoilers, but I'll try not to put any.

Chivi-chivik played: ovnogesl

ovnogesl is a fairly short puzzle visual novel that took me about half an hour (literally) to get as far as I could. You can choose go to play it now before reading this or not.
Anyway, let's begin.

This had a previous version...
I looked at info about the second version of this game (but I didn't play it), and it seems that it was very poorly made according to its reviews and comments, and its storyline didn't bring you to nowhere.
I think that this version got WAY better. It already makes sense. So, if you played the second version and disliked it, I recommend you to give this one a try.

Gameplay
Gameplay is pretty good: it knows how to combine its adventure-like playability with its visual novel side. Almost everything, even pointless things, can be checked, and they often contain items to advance the plot.
It also has pretty easy puzzles, so it's good for someone like me who doesn't like challenging puzzles between something story-filled (hard puzzles distract from a story like this).
Checking things and making choices make you to come across different endings depeding of what you did (I found 5 different endings, but it looks like there are 8-10 different endings in total), so you might need to save in different slots in order to not to lose progress.

In general, it went smooth.

Graphics
Graphics look completely custom, save from some parts in where they obviously used RTP. However, RTP's used for very specific and special parts, so it doesn't interfere with the experience.
The custom graphics are simple but effective, and not as simple as the deviantart version of it (those were BAD).

Music
Music is pretty minimalistic and I think it really fits the ambience of the game.
It tells you that something's not okay. Even when you go to a new map, it tells you that something's not okay. And it was right.

Technical stuff and the like
There are no bugs as far as I know, I didn't stumble upon any.

The character, however, moves slow. Not extremely slow, but it bothered me. However, I can forgive that given the nature of the main character. The pace fits him perfectly.

Story
Its main point since this is a visual novel.

You are in your bed sleeping until someone comes, asks you if you remember anything and tells you to wake up. You do so and, in fact, you don't remember anything. You start looking around the place you're in. The person who woke you up is nowhere to be found, but things will start to make sense soon.

The storyline and how it works with the gameplay has had me pumped from beginning to end. The more I explored, the more I wanted to know what happened. It also contributed its "trial-and-error"-like gameplay: the more endings I came across the more I had to continue. I wanted to know why the MC was there, why people hated him, why all of those letters.
And the end... didn't leave me unsatisfied. Moreover, I didn't expect it. Well, when the MC just starts to remember, things went in a predictable way (you already know at that point what happened more or less to the MC's friends)... until you're shown the reality, and you finally understand everything you've checked, and why everything was that way. It wasn't shocking, but still unexpected.
However, I would have liked to know more info. But it's okay as it is.

According to the creator, they wanted to make something different than the usual. I didn't find that 'different' so different (there are other RPG Maker games that also have this rare feeling) but hey, at least it hasn't got big flaws.

Overall
ovnogesl (this version) is a good game to get you entertained for some time, and if you don't mind that it hasn't got a mind-blowing storyline, you will like it.

And now that I'm at it... what does 'ovnogesl' mean, anyway?
