I've had this kick ass title screen ready to show off for like 8 months or something, and it's taken all the power in my bones to stop myself from posting this page earlier. I suppose I've made it into one of the perks of finishing the first novel.

So, if you haven't completed the first novel, I suggest you stay away from reading the spoilers on the game's main page. This blog post is completely spoiler free though, so don't worry about that. But that doesn't mean I can't say some very important things about what you can expect from this novel.

Being freed up from the child perspectives of the first novel (at least, for the most part), this one is a whole lot easier to write, as I don't have to hold back at all. This means two things: (1) I'll be able to get the releases out relatively quicker, and (2) the story is going to be quite a bit more mature than the first.

The biggest change, or at least the most important one to me, is that it will be quite a bit longer than the first VN. I'm aiming to make it twice as long, actually. And seeing as how the story branches out quite a bit more, and it's easier to write on the whole, it just makes sense that this would happen. Mafiosi 1 can take between 5-7 hours to read, which is pretty long by OELVN standards, but extremely short by commercial Japanese VN standards. I want them to gradually get longer with each release, if at all possible. Should be no problem for the first three, at least.

In terms of resources, I've (for the most part) stuck with the same creators I used for the first game (with the exception of the backgrounds). It should all feel very familiar to those who read the first VN, and it's really cool to know these characters and to see them 9 years older. That trend will also continue in future novels.

I'm a little bit through the first chapter now, and it feels pretty different. Really fun to write though! More updates as progress moves forward!

I considered writing another blog, but I probably don't need to. I'm nearing the end of the second chapter right now. 3 things have become apparent:

1) Chapters are definitely turning out to be much longer, especially TIPS which are now a lot more in-depth.

2) The mafia world (as according to true history) is playing a role in this story. I previously only wanted to hint at it, but it's already been cemented as a major plot point.

3) I'm adding new twists that are already panning out fantastically.
