DP2 - Valerie's Letter is a subscenario focusing on Valerie and her endeavors before the arrival of Cory. While being stalked by a mysterious power, Valerie wakes up in her room to another day of hopelessness. She is surrounded by a ghost town, and the only beings she knows exist around her are the violent, overprotective spirits of her siblings.

Valerie has no idea what to do with her empty life. A strange presence lingers in the depths of her damaged mind, forcing her eyes to see horrible things that defy the reality Valerie is familiar with.

She tries hard to endure this strange force within her each day, until one day she receives a strange letter from under her bedroom door. It is signed by her close friend, Leah, who lives in a large mansion nearby the Bhamen Village. In this letter, Leah summons Valerie to her for reasons unknown.

Valerie, carrying new hope that her life is not completely demolished, goes on a desperate search for answers.

DP2 - Valerie's Letter features firearms that can be used for long-range fire and melee to conserve ammo (which can be very scarce). It also features a new difficulty system! Would you like a challenge or an easy playthrough? It is now your decision. While you will encounter familiar monsters, their AI has been upgraded, giving them new abilities and tactics. There are also new monsters to encounter in Valerie's journey and several other aspects that have been modified to make this installment a greater experience.

If you have not played Death Proclaimed 2, it is recommended that you do so.

Messed up Starting Position!

It has been three months since the release of the latest version of this game and no one mentioned that the party starting position might be kinda messed up? JESUS CHRIST this is embarrassing.

Please, if you tried starting a new game and wound up spawned in this weird room immediately, download the newest version that is being put up right now. Thank you for your time and sorry for the inconvenience.

b4 starting this is the only game of the DP series i have played

phew...i just finished. this game wore me out. at some point i just used the guide for everything as some events were just plain frustrating
that aside i still for the most part enjoyed the game
and highly recommend it.

everything below this line is subject to contain spoilers
Plot

among the long list of things i hate in this world, stupidity is one of them. and a few of the puzzles aside that made me feel this way...even tho i was on easy!
the plot literally revolves around stupidity!
2 family's in some small town decide hey! we want power! why? who knows? theres no reason for it!
but there greed sends them into doing black magic and such.
until demons and other crazy things become reality...i think? the ending leaves you with a "did anything i did actually happen?" kind of feeling.

Gameplay

No turn based battles here! you have melle attacks which are infinite but not effective if you wish to avoid dmg on some enemies
and a gun with limited ammo! : D
outside surviving the demons that are around the town
you have puzzles which can be easy or difficult depending on the player and what of the 4 difficulty's they set it too(above easy you probably will need to go online for information for somethings)

Character

Valerie-i have so much respect for this girl for not only surviving what she had
during the course of this game but seeming to have any remote lvl of sanity left.
i consider myself above the average person when it comes to the ability to handle morbid things
at least visually anyway but if i was her age and somehow survived these events w/o question id of been scarred.

we really, unfortunate as it is tho do not get alot of dialog from her specifically. so figuring out her personality may take some guess work.

What i did not like or even hated

outside of all dark stuff doing on
-puzzles that require knowledge from outside of a game
-occasional lack of saves
-the vent area
-the end game dialog auto skipping
-making the flat coin (this is not hard its just traveling a long distance back to a room you could of already did it after you just came from there was messed up)

Closing
again i will recommend this to everyone who isnt considerably bothered by dark/bloody concepts
while its not really my cup of tea i enjoyed this and it was really well made.
man this game is fantastic and totally needs more people playing it. Fantastic puzzles.

It's all good,I downloaded the recent patch and things have worked smoothly ever since.I have never enjoyed an RPG game this much!despite being heavily inspired by the SilentHill series,it manages to retain its own original plot and atmosphere.here, have this Valerie fanwork of mine :)

That's so awesome! Thank you very much for the art, and I'm glad you enjoyed the game. ^^

JKW, did you go past the value 29 at first, exit the puzzle, and then try again? If so, I may need to fix something.

EDIT: I've uploaded a patch. Install it and try exiting the circuit breaker puzzle and then retrying it. Sorry for the inconvenience and long-waited reply.

I would like someone to help me solve the panel breaker at normal difficulty,no matter how many times I add the numbers to reach the value of 29(I have reached 5 solutions that give me the value 29 so far),it doesnt work.Is there a sign that shows me that I had succeeded in solving it, like a noise or such?
Thank you very much! :) I'm glad you were very impressed with this one. Being the third in the series, it had to be good..right?

The empty blue slots are probably for items that you no longer have after you used them.
Finished the game, my thoughts:

Gameplay: 4.8/5:
I'd say you greatly improved on it since DP1, and I was really impressed with your new monsters. You put alot of effort into this one, and especially the final boss. The only downside I could find was a lack of melee weapons, but maybe you had your reasons for that.

Graphics: 5/5:
You did very well in this. Everything sets the mood, and your new use of custom tiles really made the setting all the more better. You did extremely well in this.

Sound/Music 5/5:
Again no complaints, you did awesome in this. Your new monster sounds actually did scare me alittle here and there.

Story 5/5:
I loved it. Your skills have greatly improved since DP1, and you seem to know how to direct it more solidly this time around. You put alot of effort into this one. Btw I don't believe DP2 is really required to understand this DP2-VL. From what I can tell players will be able to figure out what is going on by the details you have outlined which I'm sure DP2 will again bring these elements out once I start DP2.

I'd say a good 4.9/5.

Now for the other stuff:
Though this maybe in new-game+, I noticed alot of empty blue slots, and I've always wondered what they were for.

Looks like I only found 1 bug that probably only happens in a bizarre circumstance which I already pointed out earlier. I don't think this bug could repeat itself consistently. It's probably a RPG maker issue on my end. Else somebody on this thread would have found it too.

The nooks area. Those things make you feel oppressed, and just wanting to get out of there.

Right now I'm finally in the 2nd to last dungeon after defeating bodyguard. Oh those was a bizarre minor bug to that though I was not sure if it was intentional. I use the shotgun to finish off Bodyguard, but instead the main character's head disappeared! She was back to normal after the scene though. lol
Don't worry, it's intentional. Do you have the Amethyst in your inventory? If not, you might not be able to progress later on..

?? Oh, I restarted that fight with the maid. I got the item in question. Besides I won't not have been able to proceed anyway since the door was locked.

I do recall that once I tried to exit, that batshit maid screamed, and I was trying to shoot at it while it moved like crazy, and I missed a couple shots, and I got hurt a few times. I think she was gliding as soon as I opened the menu to heal.

It could be possible I defeated it, but I just didn't see the corpse, and might have been off screen against the bottom wall.

Oh btw...you just had to do that for the vents did ya? Giving me nightmares here lol.
That might not be good. You should be getting an Amethyst off her body.

Which part of the dreaded vents might you be talking about? >:)

Let ya know that batshit scary maid in the wine basement can cause a bug if you go into your menu to heal. Her sprite can disappear and cause you to be trapped in there.
That's strange. Was there some special circumstance while you were going into the menu? I don't seem to be having a problem here.

I'm having a problem in the room where the man is split in half, after that cutscene, i can't move at all.

I can't replicate your problem. Is there anything else weird that happens?

It may just be my computer since its happened in the past with other games but, when I load in and am told there is something under my door my character goes to the left and hits the wall. from there I can only move down and up from bed to wall, this has indeed happened to another game I've downloaded before (but lost in all my downloads)and I solved it by saving and reopening the game. Apon trying the method it wont let me save, instead of using one of the other oddly present saved files I'd like to play it from the very beginning. Please help me with this!

With urgency,
PokeShadow

That's definitely something up with your computer. To save, go to the flashing book and the option will be made open to you.
