Why Make a Game?

It is a curious thing, fandom, that compels us to produce fanart, fanfiction, cosplay and the like. Suffice to say it's a form of expression. Usually, the creator mixes something they love with something they're good at making and produces some pleasant marriage of the two.
In my case, I like books. I turned that towards fanfiction when the first Zoids Fan Anthology was in the works.
I also like games (though I do not like games that think they are books). I've been making them as a hobbyist for longer than I care to say. I fashioned a series of short, Zoids RPG games on the Texas Instruments brand calculators and dropped my class's average by half a grade. Later, I created a Zoids table top game focused mostly on combat, though I wasn't all that connected with the Zoids community at the time and didn't really introduce it there. Whisper came about as I was playing Zoids: Saga for the millionth time and lamenting the lack of RPGs with a Zoids theme.
Having settled on intent, the next step was figuring out how to make it happen.
