Suspension

This is a personal opinion and it is through my judgment. I inform you that this by any chance does not reflect upon the completed game and that being said, whatever I have stated in this review might not actually be true as it only applies for the DEMO. So there might be changes accordingly in the completed version

Stricken is a horror and psychological game. Judging by its gameplay of the demo, it does not seem to be focused on jump scares. Particularly its environment and the background music gives you an unwillingness to move forward into the game and get your brain thinking on doubting the character's action as there are choices which suggests that a trap might happen. Fortunately, the game uses words that are descriptive like "bloody" and others. I have to admit that hearing those words seem to think it might be a trap as I have been playing quite a lot of horror games and yes I have been fooled. :(

In the photo above, at where the character stands, there is a note on the bed frames which the character still reads even though he is away from the frames.

This game has to improve its functionality as I mentioned above and the plot. It does not seem so interesting at all since the plot is something most horror fans have heard of a lot of times. I'm not trying to say the game is bad. Sadly, every game has its downside and this is just the DEMO. Anyway, I don't feel the game has given us proper time to actually grasp the fear and plot since it just ended out of the blue. To be honest, I wasted quite some time trying to get into the door before the credits roll in. I thought I could enjoyed it, but then again.. I have to say this game was not satisfactory one bit.

This could be one of the most annoying thing but what I actually dislike about horror games are the lack of information the game has when you are in the building as well as the elevators. I know I may be paranoid but the fact that I do not know how many floors or what floor I am destined to go worries me. I could be overthinking but being aware of your surrounding is something I would like to see in a horror game. I'm hoping there would be more awareness by the people making this game have a chance to look at the minor part of the game like elevators and the stairs. Also, showing buttons on the lift would be awesome.

The final thing I dislike about this game would be its vision or flashback or whatever you may want to call it. I simply do not enjoy the slow zombie walk scenes in a horror game. The Longing Ribbon used this trick and I dropped it instantly as I find it an obstacle towards moving on to the plot and sends you to a world where you know what will happen in that particular scene itself.

Now, let's move on to the good sides of this game. The music, map design as well as the change of feeling the game. :) It was spectacular and was well done in my opinion. The map wasn't too big or too small although it wasn't realistic as the hospitals in some of our countries. I did not mind it at all and thankfully they did not waste space in the game and make the map looked less dull. The background music is another thing that made me scared to move forward as you begin to progress further into the game, the background music will somehow change and gets freaky. I believe I can be taken aback if the lighting was darker but still visible on screen. It could have been a perfect mix of the darkness and its background music.

To people involved in the game : I'm looking forward to its complete version. I hope you find this review helpful and make use of the information to make it slightly better. You guys/girls don't have to agree with me as this is just a personal opinion. You can change it however you want it to and not use my idea.

Thanks for reading this super long review :)
