Walking The Plank

An RPG about politics and pirates.


=Story=

Ten years ago, Dhelji lived in Port Hemenza, a wealthy city situated on the island of Nyrgell, with his family and led a normal, happy life. He and his older sister Thalynn had a strong bond and were inseparable. As they grew up they knew almost no tragedy. But their simple and innocent existence would soon be stained with fear and sadness.

One night, pirates attacked Port Hemenza. They stole possessions from the people and started fights everywhere. The guards of the port town tried to fend the pirates off, but it took long before they succeeded. The casualties were big, because both the pirates and the guards did not hold back with their fighting. This resulted in fires, broken property and lost family members. Thalynn was one of them.

After the plundering, Dhelji became bitter. He couldn't deal with the loss of his sister and shut himself from the outside world whenever he could. His parents were concerned with him and forced him to work in their shop so he would still have contact with outsiders. The only reason why Dhelji did not protest was because he knew that his parents needed the money to survive. But despite his new job, Dhelji still wouldn't make friends, so his parents send him off to work at the house of a rich lady who prefers to live in the forest.

Now that Dhelji is 18, he served his mistress for a few years. However, soon he will discover that his life would undergo a dramatic change again. But this time, his parents won't hold his hand as he gets involved with pirates and even politics.

Dhelji is a young man who serves a rich lady. As a child he lost his older sister. He doesn't remember what exactly happened when his sister disappeared, but he fears the worst. His parents live in Urunn, but Dhelji decided to leave his home town so he could start a new life, which may lead him to more information about his lost sister.

Characteristics: hard-headed, playful, strategical, introverted.
As the leader of her own pirate party, Vanilla has gained quite some fame, or rather notoriety. She's been a pirate for over 5 years and has a large fee on her head. Through all of her pirating career she has always had a different look on things like most pirates, like her fondness for tea rather than ale.

+ Khalinkah

Weapon: Dagger
Battle style: healing magic
Characteristics: warm, stubborn, motherly, impatient.
Khalinkah is a member of Vanilla's pirate party. She doesn't talk much around strangers and keeps to her own because of her odd appearance. The reason why she looks like she does is unknown.

=Bugs and missing things in the demo=

- The REAL opening of the game isn't included yet, because it needs more maps and custom sprites than I currently have.
- The facesets are still RTP (will be changed).
- My ship doesn't look enough like a ship. I need more tiles to pull this off.
- The Light Effects VX script I used is a bit buggy, but I included it nevertheless.
