Like Legionwood? Check out the sequel! http://rpgmaker.net/games/3811/

In production since 2007, Legionwood: Tale of the Two Swords is an epic length traditional role playing game created in RPG Maker VX which was completed in late 2010.

Featuring accessible, familiar gameplay reminscent of the early Final Fantasy titles, Legionwood offers you a 20+ hour long quest set in a massive fantasy world filled with challenging enemies, involving quests and tons of character customisation options with the in depth AP Character System.

The world has been at peace since the Great War ended 1000 years ago. Now, an ancient antagonist is ready to set in motion a plan that has been in the making for centuries. Take control of Lann Northshire, an ordinary peasant who is unwillingly thrown into a conflict that will soon engulf the entire world. The fate of Legionwood hangs in the balance. Will you be able to restore peace to the land? With a thrilling story of love, revenge, war and peace, Legionwood is an adventure that you won't want to pass up!

Featured Game!

A short, sweet update: for those who don't know, Legionwood is RMN's featured game this month. I didn't know it was coming, and was pleasantly surprised when I logged in today and saw it on the home page. So uh, kudos to me, I guess?

Anyway, I just want to thank everyone who has played and supported the game (especially those people who provided useful feedback) over the course of its development and the couple of years afterward. Your comments and suggestions have shaped the game and helped me make it into what it is today. Keep on playing and remember to drop a line if you have any thoughts, because an update is never out of the question. I worked on this game for nearly 3 whole years and it was a huge part of my day to day life once. For giving me the chance to see it succeed, I owe you one :)

So celebrate this occasion by giving it a download and playing it through, if you like. Thank you once again, and keep an eye on Legionwood 2, which I am slowly but surely plugging away at. There is plenty more old school RPGing to come!

I recently downloaded and am playing 2.3 (just finished guessing value of a crystal). I've really been enjoying it, but do have some feedback.

1. The game froze the first time I spoke with the guy by the stairs at the dock. I restarted the game and had no problems the second time. Also had a script error the first time I tried to get the cat. Restarted and had no problem the second time.

2. Dialog can be cut by at LEAST half. There seems to be two contributing factors to the overabundance of text:
- You like what you are writing Too much. Be a ruthless editor. Just because you find three cool ways to say something, doesn't mean you have to say it all three ways. Pick the best one, and give us just that. Ex. The captian explaining the canal situation repeated the same information at least 3 times.
- You don't trust your players to understand the plot so you Over explain. You said you want this to be a "thinking man's rpg," but this should pertain to the story as well as the battles. Leave some of the thinking to the player by reducing how much characters explain.

If you keep those two point in mind while editing your dialog, you will both improve the quality of your dialog, speed up the game, and overall provide a more intriguing game experience.

3. You might consider adding an instructional document to the download that walks folks through installing the font. And the font is still pretty hard to read.

Overall, I've really been enjoying the game. I really like the battles and have yet to find any that I thought were too challenging, even in the beginning. If you explore the town you end up with so much money...I was well equipped with weapons and Techs before heading to the festival. I've only used the preist once and there are so many salves in chests and dropped by monsters I've never needed to buy any or use the inn.

I've also enjoyed the puzzles so far, nothing to hard, and pretty straightforward on what you are supposed to do.

Keep up the good work. I am looking forward to the next release.
okay where the hell am i suppose to put those damn cristals in the ruins
Outcastiva: The crystals need to be on the tiles with the arrows pointing inwards. Crystals should be on opposite sides from where they started. So green on the right, and red on the left. It is actually the opposite of what the riddle says since the statue is facing the player and not the stairwell:)
okay thank you so much I could not had figured that out
I got problems, again I can't beat that stupid bone dragon is there a certain level I should be on or a stratagie of some sort
Get the fury bar full before going in so you can use those. Use Lann's Rage and then hit the dragon with the double strike Tech from him. I had the rest of the party hit the bone dragon with crumble and power crush repeatedly. Since the two girls had the runes on that reduce SP usage by half they were good to do that forever as well as heal up party members. I think I was at levels 14 or 15, with AP heavily concentrated in Attack, SP, HP, Evasion and Agility. You might also drink the wine (? it was a bottle shaped item) that ups your luck.
okay I won the demo please continue the game
Progress Update:

Chapter 3 is well underway and should be released by the end of the month! Here is some information on what you can expect from the next chapter.

Release Notes

There is no longer going to be a patch version. There are too many asthetic changes to the game, that a new version must be downloaded. I've managed to shave the file size to around 50MB however.

Finally, you will be able to continue from your save file, but due to music and graphic changes, only saves made at the end screen of Chapter 2 will be able to be used.

Progress So Far

So far, I've finished mapping and fully eventing the following areas from the next chapter, bring it ever closer to release:

1. Blackrock Inn
2. Midwich Prairie
3. Zolom Nest
4. Blackrock Cavern
5. Border Desert
6. Technopolis

So far, this is about 40% of the chapter done.

You'll love the Technopolis, believe me. It's an area unlike any you've seen in Legionwood so far. Chapter 3 begins to deal with the deep past of Legionwood and begins to get a bit "science fiction".

Also, remember, you can expect to find the summonable monster Fenrir in the next release also, which should change your battle tactics in a big way.

Also, general feedback has been taken on board and the dialogue is being revamped.

Hey, DG, love what you've got so far. It's been a pretty fun ride and I can't wait until the third chapter. Just a question, in the first town, down the well - is there any way to get past the second door? I can't seem to find a way, even though I've triple checked everything down there.

I also rather enjoy the battles, even if they do last a bit longer than normal RPG battles. (Heh, easy refill ahoy!).
I stopped playing this game when I found out all the monster/enemy design and character artwork has been ripped.
The monster designs are from RPG maker advance and the art is from a japanese rpg maker site.
What happened to original content? Nothing is original here.
Erm... I didn't say there was any original stuff in it aside from music. I've admitted that the graphics are stock standard RPG Maker stuff.
Update on Progress:

Okay, I've got the internet reconnected and I've moved house. I meant to get the final touches done on Chapter 3 during this last week and release it tonight, but I was required to help pack/move/unpack and didn't actually get any use on my computer. Needless to say, this has delayed the release quite a bit, but I promise it's on the way!

As a temporary stopgap while you wait, I've decided to release the first chapter of Taltarus: The Legacy, the secret remake of Tales Of Worlds I was planning to finish and release after I was done with Legionwood.
Progress Update

Chapter 3 of Legionwood, Death and Dealings, is nearly complete. I am currently mapping the chapter's final dungeon and re-balancing some skills, items and battles (which are being made harder, you won't want to underlevel) and within two weeks will be ready for release.

However...

I was toying with the idea of adding an hour or two of extra story quests into the chapter, and extending it a bit further. I'm asking you, my players, for your opinion on the matter. Do you want the unmodified, 2 hour long Chapter Three as soon as possible, or are you willing to wait an extra week or two for a longer, more involved chapter?
I downloaded this but unfortunately something has happened with the text, it's not there! I dont know if sumthing happened when i dwnloaded it or its an actual bug plz help :D
Hi everyone!

The latest version is now out! Unfortunately, RMN doesn't allow download links to other sites anymore, and my speed is too slow to upload the file to RMN, so the download link (offsite) is now on this home page.

Enjoy!
Downloaded latest version. If I try to watch the intro get this error message: Unable to find file Audio/BGM/23MonOhVirgilRise.
Here's that missing mp3:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/zwynmzj2zzj/23MonOhVirgilRise.mp3

Put it in the BGM folder and you won't get that error anymore
Also:
In shipboard fight against the hydra the graphics of the fight scene were missing, although the menu system was still available. Made for an interesting fight since I couldn't see what kinds of damage I was inflicting:)

In the pub/inn in the colony, when trying to go up the stairs:
Unable to find audio/bgm/crysta

Your welcome.

And here's how to fix that other problem.

Go into the BGM folder and first copy, then rename the file "jbmsc024" to "Crysta"
