Today's focus will be mostly on mapping. I have the first dungeon done (more or less), so, I've got two others to do. Maybe I can fill out creatures for those dungeons as well. I also have some dialogs/story bits written, but, the bulk of that task will probably be staved off until the mapping is done.

Speaking of creatures to fill out dungeons, generic encounters will be typical on-screen on-hero-touch deals. Having that mechanic while not having access to an "Erase Event" command (unless I'm blind, and cannot see it in the sea of event-commands) was an interesting experience to have (not to mention trying to find "Call Common Event", expecting to see that exact phrasing). I am seriously used to VX Ace in this regard. Also, I've created a habit of writing stat-notes for creatures in the various note boxes in VX Ace. I can deal with not having the note boxes, but, having the reference on the critter-sheet has proved useful to me.

On the other hand, having skills that reduce/increase STR/DEF/INT/SPD as well as HP/MP (rather than having a skill that does HP/MP healing/damage that also applies a state that alters said stats with fixed percentages), kinda feels liberating. To be honest, the temptation to have someone have "Never Die" the way it was originally coded is quite high! However, that skill is absolutely bonkers, and I do want to have some semblance of game-balance.

One of the interesting tidbits of this game is how I'm making items and equipment cheap, since gold-drops seem to be on the low side. Not sure what this means for game-balance yet, as new stuff becomes available in shops as new dungeons become available, but, this project has been something of an experiment.

Not to mention a stroll down Memory Lane, in it's own way.

For the moment, creatures are done. Had a mock-battle with the last boss that didn't quite sit that well with me, but, I'll deal with that later. I want to see how this game plays out, then worry about writing/inserting the story! I'm worried that I won't be able to instill the humor that I want to have, but, we'll see. Though, if I do find myself with extra time, I can worry about game-balance.

Anyway, I have until Sunday morning, if I'm reading the event-page right. The hope is I can have something publicly available by Friday afternoon/evening, then use as much of Satudray as I can to fix whatever comes up that's still a problem.

I'm crossin' my fingers, folks!

A funny thing happen to me while playtesting this morning. I felt like regular enemies weren't dying fast enough. I double-checked my numbers, and face-palmed as I realized that I was basing them off of VX's damage calculations, rather than TsuK's.

So, it looks like I'm in the situation where, if I have the time to go through the motions to fix this properly, I will. As a feeble minimal attempt to make this more fun/playable, I've halved what HP/MP I had plugged in. For now, I need to shift my focus to filling out the story/dialogs.

*Edit: Well, I'll have to playtset everything proper at some point, but, I finished the writing, AND fixed up creature-stats!

Now, if you excuse me, I'm gonna pass out for the next hour or three so.

*Edit2: Dairigaaz, I still need a title-screen. Uh.... later! Yeah, later is good.
