Have you ever made a game and then years later you wonder WTF to yourself? After using RPG Maker VX Ace far too many times, I decided to go on a journey. Was this a journey to explore how Ren'Py works? Or was it really a journey to write one of the most terrible stories ever told? I leave it up to you to decide.

Violets in the Sunrise is a visual novel of the Shōujo-ai / Yuri genre. It features well-crafted sprites and backgrounds; branching dialogue; and three different endings.

SON OF A-!!! You're using the same backgrounds that I was planning to use! XDDD

Great, now 3 the originality of my game is gone... :P

EDIT: Honestly, it doesn't really matters. It's been ten days already and I haven't even started my game, so...

I didn't use all his backgrounds, I'm sure there's a whole wack there that look graphically similar, but are somewhat different.

If you need sprites, I used IIcharacter Alpha.

Aim is to release before RPG Maker MV. Currently fixing grammar, structure, and fleshing out more dialogue so the characters aren't so shallow.

If you're concerned about character shallowness, draw a motive diagram!
I find that those tend to help with making characters seem not only consistent, but also feel realistic and human.

Either way, I decided to quit the contest. The lots of games I have on Steam are a distraction that is hard to ignore. XD

If you ever have too many Steam games I could take some off your hands :)

Added some extra dialogue to scenes. It didn't take much, but I think the characters have a bit more to them. Need to do some play testing. A couple days translates to maybe 1 hour of game making from me. Too busy with other stuff.
Hi there Kory, how's it going?

I just read your vn, and...I gotta be honest, I didn't really like it.

The main character never talks outside of dialogue conversations, and the responses most of the time come off as really awkward. I've never seen the latter before, and I have one question. WHYYYYYYYYYYYY?!!!!!

It certainly didn't feel like it added anything to the experience. If anything, it just made a short, bland game have even less to offer. And that's another thing. Yeah, I know, I can be a fast reader when I'm focused, but the book is over in like 10 minutes! And honestly, it didn't feel like the choices that you made really mattered all that much either.

Oh, and the characters. First of all, how are they well crafted? Yake away the clothes, hair, and...well, cup size, and they all look exactly the same? Oh, and please don't just say that it's a japan thing to make characters look that way. I've read through quite a few visual novels, and the characters usually look very different, in terms of height and muscle. I wouldn't be harping on this, but you fucking claimed that they were well crafted!

Seriously, why the hell did you post this? This doesn't come off as something even a hint of quality, it comes off as a practice game that you show to a vn community hoping to understand what you need to work on as a creator.

Seriously, just why did you release this?

I hate the world and I want to make it suffer?

But I stand by what I said. The sprites and backgrounds were not made by me, but I consider them well done.

Otherwise, Yes, this Visual Novel sucks.

You don't have to be an asshole MorteTorment.. although the game now look too simple and crappy but at least he does something..
the first step is very important for every new inspiring game developer.. while you MorteTorment don't even create and release any of your own game and still want to critic other people hard work..
shame on you MorteTorment..

i can see what game you are releasing by this URL so stop bashing other people for no reason: http://rpgmaker.net/users/MorteTorment/games/
