It's been a long year, and a lot has happened, but I'm finally back to being fully active again!

Current version: 1.1.0

Here's my first completed game in almost a year and a half! It's really short and was made in a couple days, but still. This is me shaking off my rust and scratching that platforming itch.

This game requires the SMBX engine to play. Please download the engine from here:
DOWNLOAD

-Extract the 'Deckiller's Return' folder into SMBX's Worlds folder.
-Start SMBX and select Start Game.
-From SMBX's menu go One/Two Player and select Deckiller's Return from the scenarios list.

The premise is simple: Princess Peach has been kidnapped by Bowser yet again! Enter Mario on another rescue mission. Along the way he'll encounter a half dozen SMB3-themed levels jam-packed with monsters, pitfalls, and puzzles!

The twist: there's some bonus endgame content that can be accessed by obtaining five Secret Stars. Each Star can be obtained by collecting five red coins scattered throughout the level. Some of these coins are easy to collect, while others demand some tricky platforming! But all of them are optional; the game will still end normally if you just blaze through the levels. This is my ultimate goal with a SMBX game: I want something that everyone will enjoy playing. Making the tricky elements optional (or minimized) is probably the best way to do that.

The levels themselves are fairly short - unless you comb them for secrets, of which there are many. I wouldn't be surprised if someone blasts through this game in 15 minutes. There are a few tricky jumps along the "main path" but nothing that would be out of place in SMB3. Because of the short nature of the levels and the amount of secrets scattered throughout, there are no checkpoints. The game itself isn't too hard, and there are plenty of powerups hidden about, so I don't think it'll get too frustrating.

Thanks for trying this out! It means a lot to me.

Version 1.2 Added

Changes:

- New bonus level added! Victory Through Air Power by Solitayre.
- Some of the annoying jumps have been nerfed a bit.
- Hammer Panic Redux has been nerfed.
- Added/removed some coins for OCD aesthetic reasons.
- Removed/relocated a couple of NPCs in each level.
- Added a 5th Dragon Coin to A Bunch of Hills (whoops!)

This will probably be the last update unless someone finds a bug. Enjoy!

So cool. I don't usually play SMBX games but it's nice to see you're creating again. And a finished project too! Woo hoo!
I am digging the gameprofile. Looks kind of familiar, though.
