Heya! Wow, first blog. oh jeez don't sweat so much ahhhhh
Alright, well! Since I've had the game page up for a bit now, I figured that now would be a good time to talk about progress and what I've up to in terms of building the world!

Happup is still in planning stages. I have a lot of aesthetic choices and puzzles picked and sorted out, but they're not fully connected just yet. I'm aiming for a Yume Nikki-style exploration system where you start off in a few key areas and just keep digging deeper and deeper from there. The promise of finding more and more unique and puzzling environments was one of the most exciting aspects of the game to me, and I want to recreate that feeling in a similar sort of way. (With some anti-frustration measures added in. But that's a blog for another day!) It's tough, though, deciding where everything connects! I want them to be logically connected via shades of color or environmental shifts, so I've been slowly progressing by making a map of the entire world Happup lives in.

This is an example map I've made with some placeholder routes. It's on a much smaller scale than the actual thing!

It's been a little tedious, but it's helped a lot when I design levels! When Happup first started out, it was very disconnected. There was a bunch of maps made, but barely any of them had any logical connection and it involved a lot of trial and error to get places due to lazy designing on my part. Now that I've got slightly more experience, I'd like to avert the whole "just-keep-checking-every-item-in-the-level-and-maybe-just-maybe-I'll-progress" thing and replace that with a more fun, understandable way to progress.

Alright, well, now that I've rambled on about the way I connect the maps, I think it's okay to share some of the tracks! Certain key areas in the game contain their own unique theme to differentiate them from the rest of the world and to get a certain mood across in this obscure place that Happup thrives in. I won't keep you waiting, though, so have the track for Club Sinoper! It's subject to changes, certainly, but I like where it's at at the moment!

Bleh, enough waiting! Here, take this!

I apologize that this blog was a tad ambigious, but that's on purpose! I've got some cool ideas up my sleeve I'd like to go in-depth on in later blogs, so just sit back for a bit and I'll be explainin' in no time.

woof!!
