Note: Fair warning, this game is going on five years old, and I wrote it when I was 15 or 16 years old. As such, the story does get a bit cheesy towards the end and there might be inconsistencies/unlikely character quirks, minor spelling errors etc.

One Night is a survival horror game made in RPG Maker VX, released in late 2009. It holds the dubious honour of being the very first survival horror game made for the engine.

A frightening Resident Evil-esque experience, One Night challenges you to escape from "The Complex", a crumbling, abandoned research facility while being hunted mercilessly by the remnants of a long forgotten experiment.

Relentless monsters and difficult puzzles await around every corner - can you survive the horror?

One Night: The Ultimate Edition

Friday, July 6th, 2012

Hey there, everyone!

Who remembers the first time they played through the original One Night game? I played through it myself the other day for old times' sake, and I must say that I found it was in dire need of an update.

Since the One Night trilogy recently appeared on Wikipedia, and I've seen an increase in interest in the original game from Let's Players on Youtube lately, I felt that this was as good a time as any to go through the game and polish it into a standard as close to my later games as I could manage.

Thus, I now bring you One Night Build 5.1! This version of the game is a complete overhaul. The annoying monsters have been toned down, exploration has been made a lot easier and feels a lot more natural, the endings and their requirements have been changed to increase replayability (it is now much harder to get the best ending as saving Tiffany and Marchani now works differently), the dialogue has been rewritten to flow more smoothly and be free of errors, there are more scares and more tension than before and extra difficulty modes and other Easter Eggs have been added to the game.

You can access the extra play modes by entering special codes as the main character's name when starting a new game. Normally, these codes are given as rewards for completing the game, but as most of you have probably played through One Night before, you can grab them here.

EASYMODE decreases the amount of monsters in the game and starts you off with an inventory full of supplies.
HARDMODE increases the amount of monsters in the game and removes all Defensive Items from The Complex, making the game more challenging.
NEWDIGS allows you to play One Night while wearing Colt's alternate outfit from One Night: Full Circle.
MOREFEAR enables Flash style jump scares, which appear at random spots throughout the game.

Sound good? Maybe it's a good time to relive the original One Night? Meanwhile, if you've never played it before, now's the best time to try!

You're doing the puzzle wrong. Read the hints very carefully.
I'm going to give this another shot when my finals are over and I WILL give this a review.
Sorry I took so long, been busy.
Dark Gaia, pls, help with solving puzzle about entering password to control panel. I can't solve it :( What numbers I should enter?

Thx, 4 Your games!
There's a strategy guide which will help you find the answer!
Basically, the numbers have been changed into letters. The first number of the string tells you which terminal it goes into. Zeroes are already decoded. For example, A-BBCD would become 1-2234 which means you would enter 2234 into terminal 1.
Hey, man in the game, the maintence report is no where to be found.
I cant keep going through the game because I can't find the report at all.
Oh wait, never mind. Thats my bad. I found it. Sorry.
Dude this game is awesome! But i have one question. when you are in the prision break room, in the underground, wth is the passwords you put into the locker combo? are they all caps? no caps? the code, only decoded? the code, well, coded?

nvm i got it, but what do you do after you go outside? there like a lab room where it checks u or something... then what?
You need the Level 1 keycard. This can be found by going back to the prison entrance and following the building west... There's a shaft into the underground where you can find it.
Your games are fantastic Dark Gaia!
One Night 1 and One Night 2 both! It's a great example for us, poor beginners in the rpg maker path :D

I have a question, if possibile, on ON1... the locker (4 spaces) is making me crazy... maybe it's cause my mother tongue is italian, but I've tried every combination my mind could understand reading the dates in the File Room, but I obtained nothing!
Check the strategy guide accessed from this page; it holds the answer.
Don't you think you put a "little" too many enemies in the game? It's especially bad beyond the merge. This may certainly turn the game into a horror, but not because it's scary.
And great, now I got another stack error in the final boss fight (which I already got in the one before) and I have to do everything from the save room over again -_-
The stack errors seem to happen if you use F12 to reset the game. I should add a note to not press that button. Usually people do not encounter the errors unless they use that button.

Yeah, the monsters were basically tacked on in this game to give it some sort of survival element. After all, an abandoned complex where no dangerous enemies lurk doesn't make for a survival horror game, it makes for an adventure game. I believe monster wise, I achieved the best balance with the second game.
Of course it wouldn't have made any sense not to have monsters but the amount absolutely destroyed the atmosphere, especially at the end. Reducing the amount would have been much better.

And I may be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere, that there was a fix for this F12 stack error.
Was there now? I searched for it but I can't find it. The stack errors are bad in legionwood as well so if there is a fix I'd love to implement it.
Well, I don't know if this helps: http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/?showtopic=13319
It mentions a fix for stack errors having to do with the alias function.
Hmm... That might help! Thanks!
Can you show me a link or the script you used as battle system, its kinda cool
http://www.mediafire.com/?4hj51aibebaqaak can you guys check my game out if its just ok? Please message me your oppinion.
