Love and War is a tale taking place on the world of Terra. Ever since the birth of the first nation-state on this world, Terra has been wracked by the scourge of war. Five nations managed to survive throughout the ages, yet it seemed as though with each passing day, humanity slipped closer and closer to self-annihilation.

One man made a difference, however. The youthful Emperor of the Zion Empire, Geraud Valtemond, was this man. A brilliant, honorable, and benevolent monarch, he managed to open the eyes of the leaders of the other nations, showing them what lay ahead if Terra persisted down this road. Through diplomacy and sheer force of will, Lord Geraud created the Commonwealth; an international governing body, comprised of democratically elected representatives and Peacekeeping Forces, which would forever make war a thing of the past.

Three centuries have elapsed, and people have forgotten the lessons of the past. Tensions are rising between nations once again, and it seems as if the Commonwealth is powerless to do anything but watch as its order crumbles. Can one man make a difference, once again?

I'll second the good Admiral on that, it was very cool! Subscribing now.
Thank you for tips Professor Q and Admiral Styles.

My characters are only at level 6. I'll be using the Alton Marsh as a training ground to level them up a bit. Right now I'm wishing I spent less on armor and weapons and more on healing items. I'd re-load an older save file but apparently the previous one is too far back. The check points will certainly help though.

Do you have any tips for increasing Armin's Steal level? I've only had one successfully steal so far. Is there an item in the game that will increase my chances?

Thank you again for the help so far.
Armin's steal level goes up even if he fails to steal. So just fight whatever near a healing point and you can get it up to the current max easily.
Aye, hanging around a save point and trying for a steal is a pretty good way to level up Armin's thievery. :)
My question is...does his Thievery level go above 3? It's been maxed at 3 for me for a while now...since I think the first recovery point in the woods...

I think 3 is the highest it will go. At least that's what happened when I played. There is still an element of chance (that is, a level of 3 doesn't mean "Steal" will be 100% effective), but the move certainly becomes more efficient.
Just got out of the Alton Woods. Nearly ran out of healing items during the battle with the Gorn Jabola. I'm currently at level 8. I'm in the capital city and looking for the guild mentioned during the cut scene when you leave Alton. Which section of the city is it in?

It's not too hard, actually.

1. Head into Lorean (the capital), and go past the first section, the one with the gate that the guards have to open.

2. You'll come to a screen with a four-way crossing. Head north here, heading under a bridge to a place that has four dudes sitting round a table to your left (this is another side-quest, if your interested) and a potions shop to your right. Head past them, too.

3. You should now be in an area which has a guy selling potions to your left (there are more stalls that way) and two little girls playing "Here we go gathering nuts in May" (or "One, Two, Buckle my Shoe") to your right. Follow this path right, walking past a bald guy with his back to you (he's a "running gag") to head to the next screen.

4. The first building you see above you on the new screen has a guy standing next to it. If you want to pick up an easy $200, talk to the guy for a cutscene. (Further right is the way to the Royal Military Academy, which is another fairly long side-quest.) Enter the building (the entrance is fairly nondescript). This is the Explorer's Guild.

5. Talk to all the folks there for some fun details and background info, and then talk to the girl at the counter (right at the top of the room) for possible missions. Happy exploring!
Thanks for help Professor Q. I've completed all the guild quests. Although I haven't figured out what to do with that key I found in the sewer.

I could use a hint on the missing instrument side quests. I've talked to everyone in the city and haven't learned anything use.

I'm also encountering some trouble with the ruin clearing side quest. What would an optimal level for this area?

I do have two suggestions at this point in the game.

First off, Restore characters HP and MP after leveling up. That would make things a little bit easier at various points.

Secondly, I understand why you are only able acquire cash through jobs. This prevents players from grinding and having a huge store house of items available. However, this does make it difficult if you run low on healing items and are already out of cash.

I'd also like to say that the plot development so far has been excellent. Please don't cancel the second act.

Hey there Aurora_Paradox, good to hear you've been making progress. :) To answer some of your questions:

1) There's a certain couple in the marketplace that would be very interested in that key. (Save before you approach them, it's possible to mess this up!)

2) One of the Minstrels mentioned practicing in "a great spot surrounded by nature". There might be a place outside the city, but very close to Lorean that fits the bill?

3) Ozunhold can be tricky. Generally it's best if you're over level 8 for sure, perhaps close to level 10. If it's really tough, you may want to consider exploring far enough for you to grab the dogtag, and then leave. If you've collected them all, the reward may help!

Thanks for the suggestions, those can indeed be potentially tricky issues. I'll see if a tweak or two could be helpful. Hope you continue to enjoy Act I! :)
Hi, i'm new here.
Just a short post to say that i really enjoy the game (i create an account just to say that). Thanks you for the great work.

And i have a few questions too i'm stuck just before day 6 (i didn't return to Davenport yet). I want to know if i didn't miss something or some side quests before going further in the story.

Attention spoilers !

where are the last 2 dogtags or the last two side quests ? I search everywhere and talk to every one and yet i can't still find them ! I found one in straukpass (guild quest if someone read that try to steal the crystals of the turtle they are worth a lot), one in Lorean glade (musicians quest), one in the ruins, one in military academy (duel quest), and one i don't remeber where, 5 in total and i still miss two of them)

Is it possible to finish the poster quest before day 6 ? I put one poster in Davenport, two in the capital, one in Glendale, one and trinden...

I missed the quest in the military academy. How do I begin that particular quest?

Is there a list somewhere of all the side quests before returning to Davenport? I want to make sure I didn't miss anything else.

You have to enter in the military academy (visit all the academy talk to all people), then an arrogant blond dude will talk to you and you have to provoke/taunt him (choose the right dialogue) he will fight you in the duel ground (beware he is pretty strong so take a lot of healing items)

Tell me if it was useful to you.

If there was such a list i wouldn't ask about the side quests !! So no and if you find one please don't keep it to yourself !! :)

Hello MisterDude, many thanks for registering and posting here. :) Hope you continue to enjoy Act I. As to your questions, well:

Since you don't remember where you got the fifth one, that leaves three possible locations. You can find...

1 dogtag in Lake Derren.
1 dogtag in Hartridge (make sure to complete the final guild quest, and then search the house!)
1 dogtag in Blackwater Park.

It sounds like you might be missing one poster placement? I believe there are three locations in Lorean...

Hope that helps!
To Admiral Styles

Thanks a lot that was very helpful !!
I feel silly to be stuck at those side quests but now i can move on with the story.

And sure i will still enjoy the game!
To Admiral Styles

I just finished the game. I loced the puzzles near the end, i wish there were more of them.I read some of the critics and i find some of them harsh for such an awesome game. Keep up the hard and good work !!!

Thanks you again !

So for the next act what files do i have to keep ?
Thanks for your kind words MisterDude, they're the ones that help keep us RPG makers (heh) going. :) Glad you enjoyed Act I! The files you are referring to are the save ones, the "Save01.lsd/Save02.lsd, etc" ones in the main directory. The last save from Act I should be moved over to Act II. Hopefully, that will work out fine!
To Admiral Styles

Ok i have doubt but it was simple.
Thanks you for your quick answers.

Wait just a hot second... does this mean there is an Act II out there somewhere? I know you mentioned that there was a rough demo out there on the interwebs, but I never found it. I started drooling when I saw this, so please don't make me wait!
