Introduction

Want to copy the encounter system from pokemon? No problem.
In case you're not exactly sure what it is, its where you walk in tall grass and then you run into a battle.

Instructions

First lets set some tall grass's terrain.

Now lets create a parallel process event. First one we'll set a variable to the player's terrain.

Now we'll see if player's terrain.

Okay now here's the full event.

Now lets create a small grass area. And add some encounters to the map.


Now you'll notice that you'll only run into random encounters in the grass.

No it doesn't, have areas, now that I look at the editor. They return in VX though. Still, this system allows for a more dynamic area (i.e. non-rectangular) than allowed "normally".

No. It turns random battles on as soon as you step into the grass. Step out it turns off random battles.

sorry, but im ignorant about how this works. so could you explain it in a little more details.

*okay, i understand now, i didnt know how to random encounters until yesterday XD
I was wondering how to make use of terrain tags. I think I thought of something similar to this but didn't know how to implement it.
