AVEE'S PROFILE

I started to design games at the age of 5, drawing maps and sprites with felt-pens and paper. Then I began writing stories and game scenarios. I've been working with Rpg Maker 2000 and 2003 mostly, as soon as they came out.
I favor RPGs, Action RPGs and Fighting games. My favorite styles are Fantasy, Horror and anything dark or gothic.

@Darken: Featuring one-on-one fights doesn't make a game a Fighting game. That was a bad example.
Video game genres are categorized based on their gameplay interaction. Looking at the controls is usually enough to categorize a game:
In battles, a Fighting game assigns to the controls different attacks of varying strength and other actions (movement, etc.) while an RPG assigns choice selection and Confirm/Cancel commands.
I agree that genres aren't set in stone, but if I follow your line of thought categorizing a game's genre would become too subjective. Zelda: A Link to the Past for instance would be labeled as an Action-Adventure-Fighting-RPG-Puzzle-Shooter-Strategy-Simulation game.

The Particle of Infinite Free Will
It feels more like mouse fidgeting than actual point and click. I got bored by Level 2 already. The visuals and sound design are nice and original though.

That someone says something isn't much of an evidence.
Exactly. The opinions debated in this topic are just opinions, not facts supported by evidence. It really tires me to see this debate go on when it's only about opinions. There is no point to it. So I'll stop posting and hope others will follow.

@Milos @prexus:
The feeling of immersion isn't created by the game itself but by the player. A game can only suggest immersion through its features. It is the player who generates the feeling.

1. Dragon Warrior / Final Fantasy on the NES (can't recall which one I played first)
2. Favorite RPG ever? It's impossible to choose but if I had to play only one RPG for the rest of my life, I'd go with Dragon Warrior 3 on the NES. Shadow Hearts Covenant and Valkyrie Profile for runner ups.
