Starless Umbra Review
author=Rixel96If someone was new to RM, I recommend Ace. The default scripts and settings are amazing, and there is very little 2k3 has over it;author=sbesterTrue, very true. Though with all these new games coming out on XP, VX, and now VX Ace how can an RM2K3 game compete? This one really shows RM2K3 is still up to snuff without it being a classic, know what I mean?
There are many reasons RM2K3 is still good :D
even without the ability to script.
That said, veterans who've been using 2K3 aren't going to be flat-out ignored anytime soon.
Good review ^.^

Hook a brother up Chaos.
RPG Black women don't come cheap. You'll need a *very* high personality rating.
Okay, I'll stop.
Xear Portraits
author=bigtimelol, Those were my favorite renders.
Dude so sweet, I love the eyes and the hair. 3rd from the bottom, where the hairs all crazy. Yeah nice.
author=SanaI never thought the small sprites looked childish. Oh well~author=Noel_KreissThe second portrait at the top, is actually "pretty" damn close to how I wanted Xear to appear, lol so despite his sprite looking childish(which most are anyway), he's actually a lot older than that. Mid 20's at least. :3
*looking at his sprite, looking at his facesets*
Seems to lost his childish appeal which I really like. But still, I envy how imaginative CC's artworks are.
Send me the next character when you get the chance.

I like the pose and shading. The face might be a tad too dark. An easy fix is to copy and paste the layer, turn that layer into a screen layer, and erase the parts you don't want highlighted.
Make sure to direct the viewer to the face and hands at all times with contrasting colors, directional symbols, bright values, etc. Of course, try to keep it subtle.
Edit: Bounce light: light that is reflected from other surfaces. Highlight some parts of her left side with lighter colors found on the right - more lit up part of the drawing. If you don't over do this, the drawing will come up a tad more three dimensional.

Character abilities
author=BillwilliamsI like characters that go into different roles every once and awhile, but I try to limit them to one of the trinities 90% of the time.
Easy mode: Fighter, Support, Healer, Offensive Caster.
But that's boring. We can do better.
Guild wars 2 tried to get a rid of the trinity, and one of the flaws with that game is that the player would suffer from role confusion.
My rule of thumb is never create skills that aren't useful. If I have the ability to learn poison, I expect to find enemies with tons of health and a weakness to that spell. Making gimmick spells that are never useful is a waste of your time.
And a million spells for one character is dumb. Try to limit every character to 10 main spells at most.
