J*PG

NRPG (Narrative RPG)
Being that the defining aspect of the JRPG became the linear narrative-driven gameplay, that's the most apt replacement. Good luck trying to get the popular term changed though.

This whole thread seems like a repeat of that time someone deliberately misquoted Hayao Miyazaki supposedly saying "Anime was a mistake."

J*PG

BlueRouge beat me to the corrective punch so I'll just be a troll.

Don't care. Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger are jRPGs. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

But for what it's worth, the fact that a popular subgenre of game has been attributed to your country and the rest of the world's developers seek to emulate it should be a point of pride, not derision.

Am I AI generated? Am I ethical? Is important. Thank.

Video Girls when?

Are vampires overdone?

Honestly, the old "Dark Mage out for world domination" trope has been collecting dust for so long that you could probably twist some hat and use it to good effect. If you're doing a real-world setting then Vampires can be cool if you integrate them into history, but in a more generic RPG setting they're just another monster-type. Liches are way cooler masters of the undead.

I'm Leaving

I'm sorry to see another oldbie go. That tends to be what makes up RMN these days, so the loss of one is sorely felt.

Too bad the Ethical AI Generated Art thread devolved into a quagmire of name-calling and midwittery. I didn't bother to weigh in because I figure it's pointless. AI Generated Anything is a 2023 novelty and will be frowned on in due time, much the same way RPG Maker games are frowned on in the indie community >:\

If you're still doing RM stuff, you should check into the RM2k3 Discord. We're all straight ballers there. If it's time to move on, best of luck in future endeavors!

Is AI generated AI ethical? Need to know. Thanks.

AI ! (σ゚∀゚)σ

Hero's Realm: Heroic Edition

author=kentona
The "Shapeshifter" class is a berserker-type that "morphs" into a werewolf, but to achieve that, the Shapeshift is just a status whose default pose is that of a wolf. When the player takes an action (like Attack), the battle system naturally uses the attack animation, which of course doesn't look like a werewolf - it's just the regular battlechar attack animation.

You can get a visual Werewolf Attack by changing his weapon after the shapeshift skill is used. Use a variable to keep track of the current weapon, then remove it and equip Wolf Claw. Once the shapeshift ends, re-equip the variable-stored weapon.
The caveat is that you won't be able to enhance the equipped weapon's properties by Shapeshifting like how the D2 Druid works. It'll always just have Wolf Claw properties. You can mitigate this by looking at the variable-stored weapon's stats and manually adding/subtracting them before and after shapeshifting, but that won't help if your sword has Fire attribute, attack all, double attack, etc. That stuff won't carry over. Unless, of course, you want to do the madman solution of duplicating every single weapon in the game in Wolf Claw version.

There's another caveat. Every time your shapeshifted hero gets bopped by an enemy, you'll see the human damage animation.

IS AI GENERATED CODE ETHICAL?

People over here asking if AI generated code is ethical, but I'm still trying to figure out is AI generated code ethical.

I'm making legendary weapons with unique effects. Got any ideas?

A weapon that damages you when you attack. Like a cursed weapon that deals 10-20% damage to you too.

Rather than the normal damage type (Physical, or Slice/Stab/Hit), the weapon deals a random elemental damage.

The weapon that hits like a truck when you attack, but it leaves your defense at literal zero.
