JPARKER1984'S PROFILE

Hello all, my real name is Jeromy. I'm a video game fan in general, but the way that RPG's make you feel sucked in to an alternate world easily make it my favorite genre (given that the story don't suck.) Aside from that I'm a father and a husband and I work my butt of to take care of my family. I love gaming, but family will always come before anything.

My favorite game... wow, that's a tough one. I'll just list a handful that I really enjoyed in no particular order. Only a handful though, there isn't enough space to list them all.

Disgaea 3 (PS3)
Final Fantasy 5 (SNES, PSX & GBA)
Final Fantasy 7 (PSX)
Dual Orb (SNES)
Breath of Fire 3 (PS & PSP)
Bahamut Lagoon (SNES)
Magic Knight Ray Earth (SNES & SATURN)
Everlong (RM2K3)
Enchanted Arms (PS3 & XBOX 360)
Jade Cocoon (PSX)

Super RMN World 2: Yoshi's Archipelago

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, didn't realise my other one was there untill it was to late.

Ok everyone, it's uploaded. My level is called Frostbite Island and I worked hard on this over the last day and a half. I picked an ice level because I have never attempted it before and it turns out, it was really fun to design.

My level for the last event, Bowsers Mega Castle. Was made to see how well the player can deal with hordes of enemies and some obstacles. This level is more about the players ability to handle obstacles and less enemies. As a whole it's a good bit easier then Bowsers Mega Castle, but it still has some difficulty at times. There is one ? block that can only be obtained with the Ice Yoshi.

Okay I have a question. I know the gimmick is for Yoshi but does Yoshi have to be required to finish the level or can you still be able to do it if you happen to lose your Yoshi.
Of course, you just have to be able to bring yoshi to the end. If you can finish it with Yoshi, 95% of the time you can also finish it as Mario. Needing the Yoshi to complete the level would be bad game design, because then if you lose yoshi you can't win, which is against the rules.

LOL that was a dumb question on my part, thank you.

Super RMN World 2: Yoshi's Archipelago

Ok, I can't believe I just saw this contest. Well, that gives me 4 days to make a level (it took me less then 3 days to make Bowsers Mega Castle) and on top of that I'm going to try something new and do a Snow/Ice level. Damn, this will be so much fun.

Super Mario Bros. Super Contest

Wow, I've been out of the loop. 10th place, I can accept that. The only thing I kinda disagree with is the play-ability score, but overall I'm fine with that.

Super Mario Bros. Super Contest

While we're waiting on the results of the other judge is it within the realm of possibility that someone could at least through all the levels together and some kind of hub world so we can play them together as one? I don't think we need the results of the contest in order to enjoy the levels in a collective package.

Just venting, I Just Finished Ep11 For the second Time, And I STILL Can't use it! The first time I forgot to record sound, and after that I got an SMBX Error where it wouldn't respond when there was sound. I figured out that I needed to upgrade to the SMBX 2.0 Beta version, only to Discover(after recording over 50 minutes of raw footage and beating world 4) that it only recorded a black screen with sound...

Yeah the cruel irony is NOT lost on me... I try to do ep 11 AGAIN when I figure this out...

I dont know what program you use, but might I suggest Movavi Video Suiet. It's all in one really.

[Poll] RMN Birthday Event Ideas

I don't know if it's been suggested but would doing a birthday themed game be too obvious.

Frustrating issue with scripting do you agree

Sorry for the double post by the way.

And Liberty I actually wanted to comment on something you had said. You mentioned it being my fault for making something that relies on other people to create, that's more or less false. Sure I do use scripts not a lot but I do use some however, more than half of the features in my game are done by myself without the use of scripts some of which were kind of complex to create. My party system, my moogle town, my talents tree, my ability system, my gem point system and my special menu. Also the graphics used, sure I didn't create most of the graphics but I spend a lot of time piecing things together to make them look as good as possible. I tend to spend a lot of time on the smaller finer details to make as polished of a game as I can. So in short I don't fully rely on other people's stuff to create my game. Theoretically I could probably make my game without most of those scripts it just wouldn't look as nice. That's precisely why I had those people in the credits not because I have to but because I want to.

That's not dick. Dick is a penis, or a private detective or someone named Richard, dude.

It was a pretty valid observation, too (if that's your idea of an attack you might need to grow some thicker skin) - you're getting free shit and expect it all to work together when it comes from different people? That's a bit entitled. It's not like they're working together to create these scripts, after all - they're completely separate and removed from each other. Maybe if you actually commissioned scripts from a person for your project, asking the scripter to fit them around the already-added scripts in there and it didn't work then you'd have something to complain about, but otherwise? Not really.

I mean, sure, it's a bit annoying but the only one you can really blame for it is yourself for designing a game that relies on others to create.

Ok first of all, I never once said I wasn't grateful for the use of other peoples scripts did I? Second, it is frustrating. Just because I didn't make them means I'm not a lot to get annoyed when what I'm trying to put together isn't initially working, bull crap. Third, I never once downed or insulted anyone's work because it was conflicting, because it's ultimately my doing. Fourth, I'm fully aware scripts aren't really designed to stand beside one another. It's trial and error. Which is what my topic was basically saying.
