LOCKEZ'S PROFILE

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Request Time! Alien Aquarium!---COMPLETE!

Really Simple Request But Hard to Find by Search

You can't really see it on the white background, but I promise there's an charset of animated sparkles below this sentence:

I made this for use in RMXP. If you like it better than the RTP one, you could easily convert it to VX format and use it in your game.

Lockez do you want the Dukes or the Atargatian sharks?
The Dukes. I just described the sharks because I figured that would help influence how the Dukes looked.

Request Time! Alien Aquarium!---COMPLETE!

Professor Ernest Davicles was a Marine Biologist and lead researcher of the Atargatian Seas on the aquatic planet Atargatis. His studies were fundamental in the understanding of Atargatians selection-breeding techniques and the many creatures they spawned. He was thought to have been killed in the 'North Pole Base Incident.' However, a creature with the upper body of a shark and the lower body of a human later arrived at the Battledome calling himself Ernest Davicles and claiming to have transcended his human body and changed into a new, perfect form. He claims to have discovered, deep under the oceans of Atargatis, the secrets that allowed his body to undergo such an amazing transformation, though he refuses to share exactly what happened.

Now Davicles plans to create an entire race of half-human, half-shark creatures, which he calls Dukes, and is asking to be given use of a section of Dio Donner's aquarium in order to perform his experiments.

The sharks of Atargatis are generally similar to those of Earth, but grow to be much larger, and come in wider a variety of colors. Like their relatives on Earth, these sharks are vicious carnivores, a trait which will be shared by the Dukes. Davicles himself has the ability to breathe both under and above water, and plans to give this same capability to his hybrid creations. Davicles plans to combine different types of sharks from Atargatis with different builds of humans to determine the best combinations. Davicles's highest priority is ensuring that mating is possible, so that Dukes can continue to exist into the distant future, but for the sake of Donner's aquarium is also placing a high priority on aesthetic appeal, using only the most attractive specimens of both component species.

Advice to get started again?

My recommendation is: figure out what kind of features you want in your game, find scripts that give you access those features, and use whichever maker those scripts are for. Though VX and Ace have "better scripting," unless you're doing all the scripting yourself you probably don't care about theoretical scripting possibilities as much as you care about the existance of the actual scripts you need. Some scripts have only been written for VX, and some have only been written for XP.

If you really are the kind of person who can and will do all the scripting yourself, then I'd guess that the only reason you really even need an RPG Maker program at all is to help you build the graphics. In that case I'd recommend XP, which has vastly superior mapping.

If the thought of scripts makes you cringe, you should probably try out VX Ace. They basically took VX, and added on a couple dozen of the most popular scripts as core features, so that you can use those features easily in Ace without messing with any scripts.

Presumably I've landed in either a sewer or an underground river. As a treasure hunter, this should be where my expertise shines!

I don't have any torches, only this gaudy chinese lantern I stole from the Don, so I guess it'll have to do as a light source.

So I don't get lost, I'm going to tie my 12 ropes together into one giant rope, and then tie one end around my waist and the other end around the closest stationary thing that's above the water. Now I can get back here, if needed, even without a map or compass. And anyone else who falls down can figure out what I did and follow me.

With that done, I try to discern which direction has more light coming from it, if any, and start wading that way. If every direction seems equally dark, I flip a coin.

(OOC, I was briefly surprised there was no Aps boss battle the moment I landed, but I guess this obviously isn't the Sector 6 sewer. Worlds are getting combined, but two places both from FF7 being combined doesn't make much sense. It's probably a waterway from some other world... which leaves a lot of options, but I know which one I'm hoping it is.)

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

Been making the battle sprites for my generic enemy soldiers. Took several days of work (spread out across a few weeks), since these guys appear so often that I need them from every angle using both weapons and magic. That's not counting the two days I wasted trying to make them do 80s dance moves, which would have been awesome if I were skilled enough to make it actually look like 80s dancing instead of looking like someone with huntington's syndrome doing aerobic exercises.

Each direction has four poses. From top to bottom: standing still, flinching, critical health, and attacking. The attack poses for the ones with guns are three frames, making that the only actual animated pose for these guys, because fuck animated poses.

I'm pretty happy with the side-facing and down-facing ones. The up-facing ones look wrong, like their arms are in the wrong places. But anywhere else I put them looks just as bad. This is time consuming and obnoxious. I guess I'll keep screwing with it until it looks okay.
