MAX MCGEE'S PROFILE

Max McGee
My name is Legion: for we are many.
8101
Quiet desperation, it ain't my goddamn scene.
i don't know if you can follow me, but let's see.
My friends! To the wine, to the stage!
If you all squander your precious beautiful days,
well that would make you a sucker, you don't want to be a sucker, do you?

To the quitters and the complainers,
if we never meet again, remember when.

They lost their nerve
They just went straight
They didn't have the balls to hold it down and they brought everybody else right down with them.
While clowns must stand.

We'll make a toast to absent friends and better days,
To remembering and being remembered as brave
And not as a bunch of whining jerks!

Don't lose your nerve.
Do not go straight
You must testify (or I'm going to come to your house and punch you in the mouth)
cause clowns must stand.

Everything Turns Gray

It has basically just come to my attention that this download link is broken. I will try to repair it soon.

Backstage

I have never seen any of dragon ball z, because I think it's stupid and/or silly. If I'd known an SFX was from there, I'd probably have removed it.

The intention wasn't to use child abuse issues just for shock value. I believe that that element was internally consistent within the plot, within the twisted "belief structure" of the cult of Mother/the cult of shade. Father Tremble is a horrible, repulsive person, a literal human monster. Also I felt that it was one of the only things, with my own limited understanding of aberrant behavioral psychology, that could begin to explain or excuse
the protagonist's
outlook on life.

Thank you for your feedback on this ancient artifact. : )

Looking Back: Iron Gaia Series

Thanks UPRC, even many years later vindication from a member of the eratz GW mod team is still somewhat appreciated. : )

PLZ WHERE CAN GET JOB NUMBER, PLZ?

Testers

I would like to request...

* Zeb Vinita
* Hector Agliagliarlo (sp)
* Jesse Standaert
* Issa Screenivanser (sp, your avatar)
* Wesley Guthrie (that bastard with his confusing log)

or whoever else you gotta get rid of. That'll give me one psionicist, one executive type, and one military type, and one of only two genuinely attractive characters (of either gender) in the game (I really LIKE the lack of attractive people btw). I'll take a science type too, but I can't recall off the top of my head who one is.

I'll write them to 500-1000 words, unless you have a problem w/ that length.

OTHER ISSUES--(drunkpost)

While I'm still a huge fan of Set Discrepancy, I am quite frustrated with this game right now (end of Part 3, Flight Control puzzle). It doesn't seem to behave as well when the party's all split up, as for the Flight Control puzzle. I LIKE the Flight Control puzzle in theory, perhaps because it's not so much a puzzle as a logical sequence of actions that make internal sense, and I like that. However, I have a few problems:

1) Why the FUCK is "the CEO's (Kimberly Saga's) outer office" (as mentioned in Woody Wesley Guthrie's relevant log) not the same room as "CEO Reception". And what the FUCK room is it? Between 3:00AM and 4:30AM last night I was looking for it to no avail. The fuck's this job number dawg?
2) The game in general doesn't behave too well when the whole party is split up. Specifically, while Cambridge is on her own doing stuff near the CEO's office, during combat she'll take her one action, then I'll hit S to Wait on my MC back in Flight Control, then my PC will get another turn, preventing the NPCs from getting any actions. I'm not actually complaining, as it kept Cambridge alive which was much appreciated, but that's probably a bug.
3) Fatal crash bug when I had Cambridge use a Sedation Hypo {on herself}. Lost 90 minutes of progress since I was last able to save. Sadness.

OK, PERHAPS IT'S THE SHOTGUN
because i did tinker with your save file and didn't find anything weird. :X You are using the latest version right? (1.1.1.1)

It's not the Shotgun. Any weapon any character uses costs exactly two SP. Not 1. Not 3. I've confirmed this. And yes, I have the latest version.

I upgraded my MC to Aptitude 3 (in order to qualify for using the assault rifle) and therefore

Because the pistol is all ready maximum accuracy! Or rather, it has the minimum possible skill requirement. (Zero) It is in fact the only zero-level tech roll in the game!

Fair enough, but there should be really an option to reduce the Wield requirement on the M22. I've upgraded it like three times now using a character whose primary skill is WIELD, not upgrading things, and still I'm unable to actually use it. Wield 5 is ridiculously expensive.

On the plus side, when I do get to use it I can feed it all the standard bullets in the world; I have a million of the damn things because I only use armor piercing or shotgun shells.

BUG UPDATE:

Firing a shotgun (etc.) is definitely costing two AP (two Xs) BEFORE the attack hits or the enemy dies!

Set Discrepancy Review

I'm not actually suggesting wound penalties, FTR, I'm suggesting that "lost" mental points be slightly less punitive and "excess" MP be slightly more beneficial. Right now the MP system is rather punitive game design, I'd like to see it be slightly more empowering.

Alternatively, it's fine to just have everyone slamming and mainlining sedatives at a blistering rate that would make a serious narcotic addict blush. : )

As for crate hacking, the bonus from succeeding the check is in the form of items + MP, which is not too bad, all things considered.

Yeah, but it runs into the D&D problem where you get better at technical skills like repair, design, and hacking exclusively by shooting things in the face. I like how the Elder Scrolls games get around this, and even the Fallout series lets you get XP by using technical skills as well as shooting things in the face, unlike D&D where all character growth derives from murder.

I don't know that I'd go so far as to call this game a financial sim, but I do find it more compelling when the resources in it are scarce. Right now, I'm swimming in an ocean of nanites, and so resource conservation is a non-existent problem for me.

I'm really enjoying the resource management too, and I haven't gotten to the part of the game where there's an ocean of nanites yet. Actually, an ocean of nanites would be fucking terrifying.

To clarify my initial post, I will happily contribute to writing the bios, but you will have to deal with oddly penetrating questions about unimportant minutiae of the behind-the-scenes universe, as well as probably reject some of my wackier ideas from time to time.

Also meal packages are delicious, nom nom nom. It's like an inn you can carry with you. Do you get one package per ID chip, or one package per ID chip per canteen? I'm not sure how it actually works in the game. If it's the latter, they probably should effect only one character per meal (they would logically be single-serve meals anyway, non?). They are a bit too good to be THAT plentiful and full-heal everyone.

If it's only one per ID chip period, not one per ID chip per canteen, then I'm fine with them healing everyone. ID chips are fairly hard to come by.

(Tangent: Sabin growing boobies is deeply, deeply, deeply, deeply disturbing.)
