STATUS

I made a RPG Maker MV game for my college friends. However they keep bugging me saying I should release it here. I don't know should I? I didn't use anything expect the generator, and the RTP graphics, and music. So I am unsure if I shoud XD

Is it fun? That is the only factor that should factor into your decision.
Yes, my friends, and I think it's fun. I only used RTP music because I had my brother deploy the MV game for their smart phones, for some of them, because I didn't have MP4 files for my other music, or what ever file smart phones take. Don't ask how he did it. I have no clue, I just know it took him a few times. I'll think about it though. Not really sure if anyone here would like it, or not.

TBH most people don't mind if you use RTP. There's no loss if you put it up; worst case, nobody pays attention to it.
Okay, I'll put up after I add a few modifications to it. I have to go through, and change some of the maps because some of them were sample maps I loaded because I wasn't sure how I wanted some of the towns to look.

Either it's just me, or every status I read from you comes off as a lack of confidence in your skills? I dunno. Maybe I'm just way the hell off.
I'm not unsure any more. It's just going to take awhile to change the sample maps to original maps. :)

Marrend: I do lack confidence, because in the past people have left nothing but negative critic on my games, and not many people comment on the games I put up. That's why.

Criticism just tells you what to fix. That's good stuff to get!
I know, but it's good to hear positive stuff too. The problem is not at this site but at other sites people have said in some of my games that they were cliché. That makes me mad because I don't accept cliché as an excuse not play a game. It is impossible to avoid all clichés, and nothing is pure cliché. There is always something original added in it.

Perhaps the complaint about the game being cliche is more that things are too predictable, then? Like, maybe, you're using cliches to such a degree that players can predict what occurs five hours (or more) in advance? Such prediction might not even need to be what they originally thought it would be, as long as they can reasonably believe that whatever combination of cliches that you're using also "fit together" as it were.

If that makes any sense!

I dunno man like if you're getting a lot of people saying the same thing, no matter your personal beliefs, that's something you probably should look into.

If one guy walks up to you and calls you a horse, you punch him in the face. If five separate guys walk up to you and call you a horse, maybe you should invest in a saddle.
It'd take a lot more than 5 people calling me a horse to get me to buy a saddle, but the overall message is the same.

Besides, cliche ain't bad as long as you own it and make it your own. Case point: Hero's Realm is a very cliche game in a lot of ways, but it twists things just enough to make it fresh. Perhaps try looking at the story and characters you create and think of something you can twist to make it a bit more interesting and fresh. Or make it a very, very solid game so that people will go 'yeah, it's cliche but damn if it don't nail that shit down solid-like'. ;p
If you're just worried about the RTP then don't hesitate to release your game. I mean, MV is still pretty fresh. I for one, haven't touched MV, so an RTP game with its stock resources would feel fresh for me.

In general though (IMO), it really comes down to how you've used your assets and not what assets you've used.
Thank you. I was just worried about the RTP, because in the days of RPG Maker 2000, and RPG Maker 2003, people would grill others for using only RTP. Not sure why. I don't think it matters as long as the game is good, and fun.
That day will eventually come. But for now, the MV RTP is the shiznit!
I actually like the MV RTP. I think it looks nice.
