I make games from the heart instead of wasting time with research or experience.
I am an amateur RPG designer and hobbyist with a strong interest in the retro-RPG and NES/SNES era RPG genres. I also happen to be a professional software developer.
I enjoy hockey, video games, reading, writing and playing board games such as Settlers of Catan.
I spend far too much time on RMN, but accomplish nothing of use. I used to be a somebody.

I googled manga emotes and just started spriting with abandon. I have no idea exactly what most of these mean! Ah well. It was pretty fun spending a couple of hours on this. Will probably use them for status effects.

I got a little more bold with my colours to finish off the helms.
Starting with the Jester's Cockscomb and going clockwise, we have:

I am not skilled enough for this.
But I also completely understand the "fuck this" energy and going with the simpler and quicker solution. You can always change it later when you have more completed and want to polish anything up, etc. Or not!
Ha! I appreciate the kind words, despite the fact that i'll never ever believe them. Anyways, with the front facing platemail style I finished the armor sprites today. I used the tunic 3/4 stylw for the wolf, bear and lion pelt armors

So for references, I have been using the three-quarters view models from Final Fantasy Tactics (I think? At least, that's what someone on twitter told me). And with that I've been able to muddle through that for shirts and cloaks (see other recent images) and chainmail (there's chainmail, silvermail, and boneweave with cool skull pauldrons here).
But when it comes to plate mail, I had intended early on to use the platemail that Avee sprited for the tilesets wayyyy back when. You can see it next to Rana in the middle.
From that platemail base, I quickly whipped up leather armor, bronze armor, iron and enchanted apron, half-plate, the fullplate (Avee's sprite), dragon plate, and magic armor.
But I have to ask - is the shift in perspective a problem? Or at least, a problem worth overcoming by me trying to force them into three-quarters view?
