I don't think Neok cares strictly about what others think of his game, but rather he has his own expectations and standards for what quality are. His point is that he doesn't want to invest such a painstakingly large amount of time into a project he sees little to no return from, but he also doesn't want to create a sub-par product.

There's something to be said about letting a sequel die in order not to tarnish the legacy that the original maintains. It's like when George Lucas released episodes 1 2 and 3 of Star Wars. They were fucking terrible, and actually retroactively made Star Wars look worse, because the expectations of these films were so high. It's not that he cares if RMN or anyone else likes his next game, is that he doesn't want to go through creating a game that lives up to the high standard that AAG has created, which by proxy is a standard Neok has set for himself. That's what he means by expectations. At least, that's how I interpreted things.

I respect his decision and look forward to the comic.

Your problem is that you care too much about people's expectations. That is no way to make a game. That is no way to go through life.

A lot of this sounds like just whining about your popularity. The game will be darker and shorter so PEOPLE WILL HATE YOU WAH WAH. Who cares? If you want to do stuff a certain way because you think it would be better or more likely to get finished that way, who the hell cares what anyone else thinks? Whether or not fans of your previous game like it has nothing at all to do with whether it's good - and that's what really matters.

That said, naturally, feel free to ignore what I think if you believe that quitting is a better choice. Don't base what you do on how we feel! Base it on what you believe is objectively best.

most retarded post award goes to lockez.

Diablo 3 "vs" Torchlight 2

Yeah, even Starcraft 2 has a pause function... and it's a friggin' online RTS game.

Also, blizzard already delaying the release date... http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/09/23/diablo-3-quasi-delayed-to-early-2012/#more-75194

Diablo 3 "vs" Torchlight 2

Yeah, not being able to pause is pretty balls. An offline single-player mode (or LAN mode, too) seems like it should be included in the final version. RPS knows what's up.

And knowing blizzard, this game probably won't be released for at LEAST another year, maybe two. I have faith they'll make the right decision!

Mother 3. Emulators and rm2k3s

http://rpgmaker.net/games/1319/

It has a profile on RMN. There used to be a demo available on his gamepage, but looks like it got removed.

The demo wasn't much. It just involved you walking around a couple maps and fighting a few monsters. But it had a real genuine Mother/Earthbound feel, was quite an impressive adaptation of the game's style. Looks like it hasn't been worked on in quite some time, though.

I used to have the demo on my harddrive, but looks like it got lost/deleted somehow. For shame.

The NaggyNerd webcomic

I'm sorry dude.. these just aren't really that funny.

hell yeah dude!!!

Classic/Older game profiles?

I like this idea. Would be cool to have some sort of "Legacy" archive of games by authors who are no longer around.
