Thinking on future game ideas, I have no idea what to call anything. Heck, before I came up with the name for Luxaren Allure, I used the placeholder name "Love Overlord" for the project folder until I thought of something better >.<;;
How do people come up with all these cool names for their games?

You're right, Love Overlord sounds cool but is also terribly generic to search on google, but when you type "Luxaren Allure" or even "Luxaren" into google, your game is in every one of the first page's results!
You would've thought "Account Mu" would have merited an appearance on Google if you searched it. No chance. I'm not even on page 1 if you don't surround it with quotation marks, and even if you do, I only start appearing in third place.
Edit: But of course when you type Aether Pulse into Google, the game comes up as the first result, even though it has no download.

Yeah, I kinda lucked out on that XD The game takes place on the Isles of Luxaren, so I just incorporated that into the title, and the fact that it's a made-up name makes it easy to search for. I don't know if that's the best for future projects, tho.
Luxaren Allure is one of the catchiest titles out there, really rolls off the tongue.
But screw April was a Fool, Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass, Pom Gets Wi-Fi, and others like them for being stupidly good titles.
The best things make me jealous.

Thanks! ^_____^
And yeah, those examples are the kind of thing I'm trying to think of for future games, clever, unique and interest-drawing. Given that they're future, I have plenty of time, but as I jot down ideas for them in Google Docs, it'd be nice to have something more than a placeholder name for them XD

SAME. I still haven't come up with anything for Bossgame ;_;
Luxaren Allure really does sound cool! "Luxaren" just has a really good ring to it, which is really hard to do for a made-up word. Like, it's really easy to make a fake word sound really dull or overly fanciful. "Runcible" is another good one I always think of.
IDK, my games are usually titled after the main character, if I'm lazy, or have silly phrases as names like "Love Has Eight Legs" and "It'll Look Great On Your Résumé". You could try something overly long like that (with a sub-phrase you can use as a shortened title, like "Résumé"). A unique phrase will make your game really easy to search for, as well*.
IDK, anything works, I think... Pom Gets Wi-Fi and Dreaming Mary are pretty simple titles that kinda encapsulate the theme of the game (silly and ephemeral, respectively) and also include the protagonist's name. Maybe that's a good plan!
*My favorite example is the game Christine Love is working on atm: My Twin Brother Made Me Crossdress As Him And Now I Have To Deal With A Geeky Stalker And A Domme Beauty Who Want Me In A Bind!! (short version: Ladykiller in a Bind)

words under a hide tag
I saw a drawing about that like a year ago and totally forgot about it! It looks right up my alley! I need to make sure to grab that game when it's done!
I usually try to tie in the theme of the game into the title, or a prominent location and/or person. Though, saying that, the title for Arbiters From Another World came about more because a) it sounded cool and b) I had waaay to much fun with Arbiter units in StarCraft.
Usually, the title is one of the first things I come up with when creating a story or game. Sometimes I even just think of a title I like and then develop the actual story around that. Yeah, I'm pretty obsessed with titles.
unity, just summarize for me what your game is about, and I'll come up with a title for you. ;)

Is that the one that says "Do you wish to know about Time Travel" or something?

Wow, that would be great! Though, I had lunch with Sooz, and talking to her and brainstorming, I may have something. The game will center around a town called Daybreak where a lot of weird and unfortunate things are happening, so maybe I could call it "Nightmare at Daybreak" or something that plays with the names like that? What do you think?
Don't worry, a lot of my games have weird names for a while. One was called "All the Ponies" because I had that lullaby in my head at the time (and I still call it that to this day, though it goes by another name) and hell, I called one of 'em Dungeon Crawl. Much original. Tried to search for videos of it on youtube to find an LP I was sure existed... no luck. :/
It's Always Cloudy In Daybreak
It's Always Darkest Before Daybreak
Nightbreak
The Daybreak Brave
Weird and Unfortunate Things are Happening
Weird and Unfortunate
The Weird, The Bad and The Unfortunate
Night for a Day
The Goin' Gets Tough from the Getgo
Good Morning, Bad Night
that's all I got

Sometimes, a weird name's just what a game needs! :D
Unfortunately, as a developer, I'm too "close" to the project to objectively pick a name, usually ^^;;

I really like "Nightbreak" and "The Daybreak Brave," though "Weird and Unfortunate Things are Happening" sounds strange enough to be interesting. :D
I have no idea if there is a term for a negative waking dream, but, if there is one, I think that would be the term I would use over "Nightmare". But, that's just me.
*Edit: Though, before I had that thought, there was "Crack of Weird" (Comparative to the phrase "crack of dawn", and the town's name of "Daybreak") and the absolutely terrible "WeirdBreak".

I, too, suck at the titling of the games and such. All of my projects are still going by such intriguing names as "Biker Dragon", "ESPShooter", "Hack n Slash", "ScrollTest", "Test1", and the inimitable "New Folder".
You could always go for the tried-and-true Japanese method of just smooshing vaguely-related English words together. Yanno, like Radiant Silvergun, GunFrontier, Under Night: In-Birth, Person 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold, Infinite Undiscovery, Just Breed, etc; and then maybe pull from the stock list of CAPITALIZED WORDS like NEO, TRY, DASH, ZERO, REBIRTH, etc. I don't even know what the hell is up with Touhou's subtitles like Subterranean Animism or Immaterial and Missing Power.
Hmm, to throw my hat in the ring for no reason:
Pleasantless Dreams of Broken Days
Aurora Phantasm
Early Bright, We're Dead Alright!
... yeah, that's all I got.

More great advice! Thanks! ^_^ As for the names, I really like "Aurora Phantasm" though I'm not sure how well it fits in with some elements of the game.

Weird and Unfortunate Things are Happening
You know, the more I think about it, the more it occurs to me: If I saw a game that was called "Weird and Unfortunate Things are Happening," I'd pretty much HAVE to check it out, more than any other title I've come up with. Maybe that means I should go with it?

Marrend, Daymare is actually a word and it means just what you think it does, it's the opposite of a daydream. I would probably opt for the more literary brown or dark study, though that is more about being lost in a negative reverie rather than a dream.
In regard to the original question, as Daybreak is a synonym for Dawn, you could look at others that fit that mould, Night's End, First Light, Sunrise, Cockcrow. Then throw in something that fits the feeling of weird and unfortunate so ill-starred, hapless, fateful, eldritch, uncanny, strange, curious.
So therefore An ill-starred dawn would fall out of the mix, or the Curious events at Night's End.
Then again I have enough trouble coming up with snappy titles for my reviews let alone an actual game, so I have no idea.
