NicoB's Let's Tries/Plays! *REQUEST YOUR GAME HERE!*
I would love to see a Let's Play of "I'm Scared of Girls". I thought it was a wonderfully surreal game.

I haven't played FFTA although I have played FFT. Assuming FFTA has a class system that's even close to as flexible that of FFT, I do think both it and the free roaming nature of .hack//Infection may compliment each other.
One effect of the free roaming nature is that the player can pick a stage with as easy or hard opponents as he wants. With a flexible class system, there will be a large difference in power between two players even if they are at similar levels. The player with a more powerful class combination can now simple pick a harder stage if he wants to maintain challenge. Picking dungeons with higher level enemies will also level that player up faster, so someone who has already beaten the game once will be able to go trough it much faster the second time which I think is a good thing.
The side effect is that you have no control over how powerful the player will be at a certain point of the game. Most RPGs allows you to build your characters so strong you will just wreck any opposition. They do nevertheless have brakes such as increasing exp requirements and not making all equipment available at once. No such brakes will exist in your game. It's entirely up to the player. The question is, do you consider that a problem?
You're thinking a little further ahead than I was. lol But you are right, that would be a problem...

I understand. I think this kind of "story-free" game is extremely risky, though. You need a really cool, addictive system like FFTA's to pull it off. And even then, you need at least some minor degree of purpose and direction to the player.
Yeah, it's pretty risky, probably why I haven't seen a lot of 'em around. Well, 'cept for a few of the ones Craze has made. I kinda like his stuff. Simple ideas on a complex level.

There were a few things I didn't like about Valtherian Arc. Like the fact fact that you were at some point forced to graduate a student even though they may not have been ready by the end of the month and that they limited the amount students you could admit each month even if you had run out.
But what I loved about it was that you weren't limited by a story, but of course it could have done with a few more maps and maybe some extra quest, but you weren't placed in a world where you were forced and felt like you were always under the control of the creator of the game to follow this path other than the monthly student goals you'd have to meet. It also wasn't half bad on the eyes.
That's the kind of game I've always kind of wanted to make. Something similar to that with more customization.

So, seems like... 2 or 3 years now since I last made an attempt at designing a game. Been about a year or 2 since I touched RPG Maker or even an RPG Maker forum. (I was never very active on any of them in the first place)
Now, my point... I had an idea a couple days. Just a little idea floatin' around in the back of my head. In fact it had been floating there for quite some time, but only just recently had I decided to share this idea with a small online community, y'know just for some opinions. I visited a couple of old forums, but I didn't feel like I'd get any REAL feedback, so I decided to take it here.
Alright, here's the little thing I imagined up just brain stormin'. So, I envision a game with a job system similar to FFTA, but the roaming freedom of .hack//infection. I'd say the idea I'm thinking of is somewhat similar to that of Valtherian Arc but.... not quite. It's a bit hard to explain in detail. Of course it's just an idea... I may or may not take the time to actually MAKE this thing. I'm still RE-learning RMXP and ATTEMPTING to learn RMVX.
All I want right now are just your thoughts and opinions on this idea and we'll go from there.
