Pledged.

Firefox is awesome.

Top Ten Topic: New Characters in Super Smash Bros.

1-10. Magus.

Would probably be the Best Unlockable Character ever. Would also have a unique moveset, because as far as I know no other character in Super Smash Bros uses a scythe as a weapon.

He'd really need his theme music, though. That would be awesome.

Worst Fears?

I'm not sure if the internet is the best place to post your worst fears. Then the world could track you down, go into your house and use them against you, or something.

That was not my worst fear, by the way.

I'm going to do a Let's Play! [NOW WITH LIST OF GAMES VOTE NOW VOTE NOW!]

You mean like Let's Play La Mulana?

Sure, why not? Try it for I Wanna Be the Guy, or something. Or maybe you can do a Let's Play for an RPG Maker game, like A Blurred Line.

Wildcard

Found this a while ago!

http://ca.geocities.com/cyberscythe@rogers.com/wildcard.html

It's Wildcard, formerly only found on Gaming World before it was taken down. It doesn't have the greatest story ever, or custom graphics and music, or a CBS or CMS. One could probably classify it as an RTP game. The thing is that this is probably the best RTP game ever made.

This is why--

-Since nearly all the resources are RTP, the game is very consistent.
-All four members of your party are introduced within the first twenty minutes.
-The game never takes itself seriously, and is never pretentious.
-You can read books from bookshelves, and nearly everything written within the books is important to the game in some way.
-Elemental spells have different effects other than exploiting enemy weaknesses--for example, electricity stuns enemies, ice always deals the same amount of damage with each attack, and dark absorbs HP from enemies--so there's a reason to use spells other than Fire.
-Your characters gain abilities at exactly the right rate, and most of them are pretty useful.
-There are a lot of minigames.
-It's also 10 hours long!

It's a bit like Last Legend, but with lower production values. Also, Wildcard came first.

20th Century Boys: The Movie

This looks pretty epic.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjVdMgbz5ak

20th Century Boys--coming out this August--is based on the manga by Naoki Urasawa, soon to be published in English. It is going to be a trilogy, and apparently has a budget of six billion yen! The story, which jumps backwards and forwards in time at a rapid pace, is about a group of childhood friends who reunite thirty years after they graduate from high school, only to discover that a mysterious cult leader known as Friend is attempting to bring about the apocalypse in a bizarre reenactment of an elaborate mythology they made when they were children. Cue references to the 1970s, secret conspiracies and giant robots.

I haven't read much of 20th Century Boys, and another trailer for the movie looks like it's going to be two hours and thirty minutes of talking, or something. But Naoki Urasawa also wrote Monster, which is incredible, and since 20th Century Boys is generally assumed by those who have read it to be twice as good as Monster was I think this might be worth looking out for. If it does well in Japan, maybe they might even release it in the US! They released Death Note, anyway.

Your dreams

This comic is depressing.

Your dreams

Last night I had a dream where my English teacher and I were trapped in a Three-Act Play, and in the second act my teacher turned into a zombie werewolf in a sequence reminiscent of An American Werewolf in London, and then went around biting off people's arms and legs and sewing them onto other people. Thankfully I somehow took a bathroom break during act two and avoided the whole thing.

So in summary, I have really weird dreams.

-+- OKAMI -+-

This is a really good game.

I liked it much better than Zelda, even if it borrows many of its gameplay elements from the Zelda series. The graphics are really good, the soundtrack is awesome, the Celestial Brush mechanic works really well, and even the story flows better! It is also the only God game I've seen where the player is more compelled to heal the land than to set people in fire, which is a real accomplishment.

Top Ten Topic: Favorite Video Game Villains

I don't really have a favorite villain from commercial games. Magus is pretty awesome, but he's more of an anti-villain anyway.

But I do think it's worth mentioning that Shadar is the craziest villains in any RPG Maker game ever. Kersh has the pathos, Strata is incredibly petty and also incredibly awesome, and The Raven is probably the most sympathetic character by the end of Clouded Heart, but none of them have choirs of hellish voices that chant whenever they teleport dramatically, or impale somebody with magical powers. He also has a scythe.
