This is a series of bi-monthly articles to show off the best blogs that I've seen over the course of a fortnight. And believe me, I've checked them all.

The blogs spotlighted here will have interesting content that focuses on the game/s in question, will usually be longer than not and sometimes contain either graphical or video content as well as written.

Aw, I had crunched to get mine out in the hopes that it would make the cut, but after seeing the other great blogs.... yeah. Note to self: Don't rush the blogs. Quality takes precedence.

Come on, I DIED in that blog. That's pretty dramatic and warrants attention, right...?

You're magical to me.

Hooray! :D I think this is my first time being featured in Best of Blogs! Thanks so much! ^_^
I think Toaster and I deserve an award for making the cut so many times. XD

Thanks for doing this, Libby. There certainly does seem to be more blogs this time for Number 10.

B-but my two-sentence blogs were amazing and totally didn't contradict my old self who used to police peoples' blogs like an hour a day to make sure that they were as meaty as a cow.

Says it was created on the 3rd of November. That's why it wasn't included.

Unless I'm a time traveler or something, it's not even the 3rd of November yet. At least where I am.

I guess it's a time zone difference, but what you see on the game page is just when the last post was made, not when the blog was submitted.
Ah, well it shows for me on the 1st in the blog area, so... next month maybe~ XD

Nah, I don't want anything. Quality is it's own reward.

Actually (watch out, I have a suggestion!), maybe we can rotate the best blogs around so that new people can get it too? Make a top 10 with different games every time?

If too many logs end up here, it's sort of loses it's purpose imho.
Why would I do that? I just take the best - like, literally, these are the good ones. If people want to get on here, they can make good blogs, easy as pie. Otherwise there'd be blogs with two sentences or a list of changes. Like I said, I just go through every one and put them on the page, no matter how many or how few there are. This time was a bit bigger because there was a bit of a good blog drive at the middle of the month and that's where they all came from.

Next fortnight will be, again, whichever are good. Like, seriously, I'm not picking you or Luchino because it's the both of you posting. Anyone who makes a very good blog will get in the list.

Full stop. Too many is better than too few, in my book. In fact, I don't know that there can be a too many. This was larger because of a deliberate push for people to make good blogs - and besides, it's the tenth episode. I have no issue with putting a larger amount on special occasions.

And no, there won't be a prize for consistent good blogs... yet. There's something planned for the future, though, but that's a while off.
What are the things you look for when you pick blogs here? Is it length, overall quantity of progress/news reported or is it generally good, overall competent writing/disposition?

I like blogs when they are both somewhat entertaining and informative. Writing isn't the only medium which can utilized when making blogs, so I suppose showing content/stuff you've worked on lately is an extra plus.
One thing I also enjoy in blogs is when the developer shows personality and writes on some of the things that's going through his/her head will working on the game. That might just be me, though.

Did someone think that?

Your and Luchino's byplay kinda hinted it a little. Best to just get it out there in case anyone was wondering. It's not about the people, just the blogs themselves.

A bunch of things, really. Length and content and how well written it is and interesting writing/content.

I start off by going through every blog and getting rid of the ones that are just announcements, two sentence deals, only screenshots or a video (we have a media/screenshot section for a reason people!) and lists of updates. After that I read the left overs and get rid of ones that are:
- Meet x character! Yep. That sure is a character. Here's a spell list and this is their image and here's a logo just to jog things up a little!
- This happened this week that has nothing to do with the game at all. Nope, that's all I got to blog about.
- Check out my twitter!!! Oh look, I have a facebook too! Woo! Greenlight me!

The left overs are then read through again and I pick the best ones - usually ones that are humourous, engaging, interesting, have different content and contain both graphical and written stimuli. Oh, and longer than a paragraph.

The numbers, if you're interested:

Last time - 9/85 were shown off. That's 10.5%
This time - 22/98 were shown off. That's 22.4%
Keep in mind that I actually asked people to post better blogs this fortnight, and they delivered. I have no issue feeling happy about the increase, nor showing them off. They deserve to be shown off, because they're good blogs. That's what this series is about, after all. The best blogs shown off. Sometimes there will be more, most of the time it'll be smaller.
Your and Luchino's byplay kinda hinted it a little

What are you implying exactly?
I'm implying that people might get the wrong idea by reading both your and Luchino's posts. What's your damage?
I just don't see what kind of wrong idea they might get from my comment. Not that it matters it's just puzzling to me how you think about things sometimes.

The system is fine as it is. TT, I think your suggestion would be good if the amount of blogs that would make the cut are consistently this high or higher. However, these numbers...

... say otherwise. Sure, consistently making it to the best of blogs page has the potential to devalue the writer (oh, this person made the cut again? Surprise surprise. Next), but devs needs a much exposure as they can get. If they consistently make good blogs that deserve exposure, then I say they've earned a spot on here no matter how many times they have. If anything, it provides constant examples of well-written blogs to look at when deciding what to write in your own.

BTW holy crap that's a lot of blogs to read through. You've got some serious patience!
I wrote all my best blogs before this was a thing. My blogs are great, but they are so underground you've probably never heard of them.

It was more that you were trying to say you didn't want to get spotlighted so often, added with Luchino's comment that you and she get a prize - just seemed to insinuate that people were being picked all the time. I just wanted to make it clear that that wasn't the case - that it is based only on the blogs. If you or Luchino wrote blogs that weren't so great one week, I wouldn't add them (I think that's happened to both of you before, actually), but because you both keep a steady stream of great blogs, you make the list.

There's no harm having a larger number. Just shows that there's a lot of quality games to check out, which isn't a bad thing, but yeah, like I said, numbers-wise it's usually more like last week. I wanted the tenth edition to be bigger so I asked that people challenge themselves to write better blogs this week, and they rose to the occasion.
