RMN SNEWS - ISSUE #13

(I would post something more meaningful and content specific but I haven't really played videogames since like 1998. Though most of the games posted about so far are from around that era so maybe I wouldn't be so out of date. Personally, I loved Chrono Trigger and FFVI, quit halfway through FFVII and have never played Earthbound. (Great. Now I just posted something meaningful, invalidating my previous statement.(I wonder how deep I can nest these thoughts?))).





Are people wanting to participate in a new BQ? Recent chats on IRC (and a few other places) have hinted that there is interest in a new collaborative game.

For BQ4, the tentative story will revolve around Zack's and Broomhilda's honeymoon on an island....AN ISLAND OF ZOMBIES! Of course, Broomhilda is wisked away by evil zombies and now Zack, stranded and lost on the island, must make his way through the perilous perils of the mysterious island to save her!

Using a specific product, RPG Maker 2003, we will each make a single map puzzle using RTP OR your own supplied graphics (that mesh with RTP) and I will link them together in a quest.

What is it?
Final Fantasy Essence is a Final Fantasy fangame (*GASP*).

Why should you care?
This fangame looks good. Plus, since it is being made in XP it won't suffer (hopefully!) from all the pitfalls and quirks of RM2k/3 - the typical engine for the Final Fantasy Fangame. Mode 7 looks nifty, too. A demo is expected near the end of January.

What is it?
Legendary Legend is a comedy RM game that is actually comedic. A rare feat.

Why should you care?
As Solitayre says, "...each and every scene is incredibly well written and presented expertly with an eye to detail most RPG projects cannot hope to match. If you want to just have fun, laugh, and see absolutely fantastic story-telling at work, you should definitely give this game a spin."

Given the recent spate ('spate'! What a great word!) of wave-making games that begin with the letter A, there was no way I was going to feature them all. Hence this Play Something.

1. You don't have to actually finish the game/demo, but of course you should get far enough as to where you can say you've actually played it.
2. You don't have to like the game/demo. You're completely entitled to think that the games you picked suck ass. And that brings me to my next point, and perhaps most important...
3. After you've played the games/demos you picked, give something back! This is the most important part of the whole thing! Not just a "Looks good", or "That was fun", give something more. Write a review (and submit it to the site even), post your opinions on the gamepages, list bugs you encountered, hell, maybe we'll even get something that I couldn't even have imagined. Surprise me.

RMN HISTORY:
I first joined here in the early days of RMN2 (June 2007 I think?). Before that I was looking for a good general RPG Maker community to hang out in. I was a big lurker in other communities and felt I needed to start in a fresh environment. Surprisingly enough the site happens to be run by a lot of cool guys who know what they're doing! I got promoted to staff mainly for my reviews (which I should get working on) and ended up doing several events.

PERSONAL BLURB:
I am an 18 year old who lives in Nova Scotia, Canada (east coast represent!). I'm still finishing up high school and hope to get into art school after grade 12. There's not much else to talk about, other than the fact that video games make up 50% of my life, art being the other 50%.

SPARE TIME:
Artsy things, like ceramics! I've been doing a lot of clay stuff and almost burning the house on fire with my kiln. I also do a lot of pixel art which contributes a lot to my current RM project.

FAVORITE FOOD:
Food of the asian variety, preferably chinese food, chinese takeout.

FAVORITE SAYING:

PET PEEVE:
Slow walk speeds (both in RM games and irl).
