When you leave the room you will find your walking speed quite slow, but don't worry you will get a chance to speed it up early on by training at the academy. Just fight a few monsters first. ---Items--- Treasure chest contains 200 GP There is a shield in the opposite room on a shelf. Downstairs there is a box of usable items. Cat - can be picked up and sent to your base KING DONE ---Township--- It is not possible to collect animals at this point. You wont need goats anyway. You cannot yet exit to the Gloomsville Forest to the north. You can leave the town from the southern exit, but it is dangerous at this point and you might not last long. You can only go so far though as you must first go to the Gloomsville Forest to advance in the game. You must first go the the cathedral and talk to Angel before you can advance into the forest. Once you have talked to her and return to town your housekeeper will come running over to tell you your father has been hurt. You can find him lying outside your house just near the entrance to the Gloomsville Forest. After talking to your injured father head into the Gloomsville Forest above to find the bounty hunter who injured him. ---Buildings of note--- - Academy - Where Rok can learn and upgrade skills. - Mystery house - In there is a switch that opens the doors further into the building. However you will have no hope of getting into any of those rooms until you get your walking speed up. Items: Room 1: Medium potion. Room 2: Maxine's diary. Room 3: Amethyst orb. You need to have level 2 speed to get to room 2 and level 3 speed to get to room 4. - Rina's House - Go in there and talk to Rina. She will send you out because the house is a mess. If you return and tell her the correct number of items she has cleaned up she will let you have the item in her chest. The item = Force Field Pendant. - Cathedral - East of town. Angel works there but otherwise there is not much else there apart from Noel who is up at the top right of the cathedral with a side quest. ---Sidequests--- - Help Mikey find his ball. He is on the upper west side of town. It has been hidden by Trevor, another boy there in town. - Help Maxine at the Gloomsville Inn find her missing diary. - Noel at the top right side of the Gloomsvile Cathedral has lot his late wife's broach lost in the forest. ---Other people of note--- - Tessa at the right side of town. There is a target there that needs to be hit by a bow and arrow, however only Janette can shoot this target and she is not available to recruit until later in the game. She will need to have level 5 sharp eye to hit the target. Once she does Tessa will join you and set up an Archer's Guild in Cassidy. - Gardren in the Gloomsville Inn. Collect Funguy teeth and sell them to him at any time. 50GP each. Gloomsville Forest ================== Enemies: Sleazards, Monstrositrees, Kobolds Boss: Bounty Hunter Treasure chests: Bitter herb, Maggie's Broach. Helmet (chest hidden behind tree). Dexterity Seed (in chest guarded by bounty hunter) Save stone: Full healing. There are puzzles to solve to advance through the forest. First you must stand on a piece of light coloured grass. This triggers a switch which removes the rocks below to allow you to pass. Second, there is a bridge which is broken. You must fight 2 kobolds nearby to uncover a plank which you can then place on the bridge to allow you to cross. The bounty hunter cannot be beaten. He will defeat you but not kill you. You can then heal up at the save stone and walk back through the forest. Return to your house and go upstairs and talk to your father. From there your father gives you a mission to find the rebel generals. Talk to Angel. Your father dies and you can rest and save at this point. Angel will await you downstairs and join your party. You can then head south to Snobsville. Road to Snobsville ================== Enemies: Funguys, Lizard men, Beestards Treasure chests: Bitter herb, Bronze shield, Revive dust, 200GP, swift staff, Venom blade. You just need to make your way south. =============== 1.2 SNOBSVILLE =============== At this point you need to take the west exit and go to the cathedral. There is a ladder in the east wing that leads down into the sewers which is where you need to go next. You cannot head south to Blithering Heights yet. ---Buildings of note--- - Hogwart's School of Magic. Cannot enter unless Cliff is on the team. - Academy for Rok. - Locked house. A vampire lives here but you can't enter through this door. - Cliff's house - chest: 2 bitter herbs. Cat can be picked up after base is set in Cassidy. - Fancy house - chest= corn. Locked room chest (needs Joey to pick the lock of the room): sleeper arrows. Sebastian in this room and will join you after your base is set in Cassidy. He will open up an item shop. - Cathedral - west exit. Angel can train. Treasure chest that can be opened by Angel using faith: Intelligence ring. Also contains ladder that goes down into sewers. ---Sidequests--- - Help Clarke get his letter from his grandfather stolen by a gremlin. - Help Frida find her doll which was stolen by a mutant penguin. - Help Lisa steal the item that is in Martha's chest. - Help Claribell get a replacement brick for the town clock. ---Other people of note--- Martha is guarding a chest. You nead level 5 sneak skills to get to it. Snobsville Sewer ================ Enemies: Roosterrors, goblins, gremlins, sewage goo. Boss: Vampire Treasure chests - area 1: Life seed, special robe, fire ring (water level needs to be down to get this one), marble brick. Treasure chests - area 2: 2 revives, elexir, sewer key Other items: Chicken, in the pit of Roosterrors. Clarke's letter. Can be found early in the 2nd area of the sewer, on the floor. ----Area 1--- Firstly you must flick the switch at the top right corner. This will increase the water level so that a bridge will float up to allow you to cross a pit. Beware that if you flick it again the water level will drop again. You will need the water level to be low if you wish to get to one of the chests which is normally under water. Switch puzzle. A sign on the opposite side of the switches has some criptic clues. The answer to this one is that each line of the sign starts with a D or a U. That tells you which way the switches need to be pushed. Down or up. DU DD UD Once you solved the switch puzzle you can then head through to the save point. Save only. No heal. You will then meet up with Cliff who will join your party as the third member. ---Area 2--- The first puzzle you come across ain area 2 is a floor with patterns. It's like a diamond shape but the left corner is missing. Just stand where that missing shape is and it will trigger a switch which will lower the water level, allowing you to advance. You will find a tradesman who you can purchase items from if you wish. You will meet this tradesman from time to time in other areas. There is a locked iron bar door here. You will need the sewer key to get through. Return back and head the other way. You will find a chest that contains the sewer key guarded by some sewer goo. Save stone will heal HP and MP partially. Heading up the stairs will take you into the locked house in Snobsville where you will have to fight a vampire. Treasure chests are sealed by magic until the vampire is killed. They contain: bitter herb, shield pendant. Once back in town, it will be determined that you need to head south towards Blithering Heights. You can leave whenever you wish. Road to Blithering Heights ========================== Enemies: Mutant penguins, Leech wasps, Lobstrocities Treasure chests - 1st area - Ribbon, Bitter herb Treasure chests - 2nd area - Intelligence seed, broadsword, 2 remedies, In area 2 near the beginning there is a mutant penguin standing by himself near the chest with the Intelligence seed in it. This penguin has Frida's doll. Kill the penguin to get the doll. Follow the path to Blithering Heights. Pretty straight forward. In the 2nd area there will be a rock blocking your path but you can push the round bolder and it will roll across and destroy it. Just before you reach Blithering Heights there is a cave with a boulder blocking it. The boulder can only be moved by Angel with a faith level of at least 5. You can then enter the sword cave. But you won't be able to do much more there right now. The cow there cannot be picked up until you have established your base at Cassidy. ---Sword Cave--- You need 5 orbs placed on the pedistals there before you can open the chest to get the Mercy Killer. You will not be able to collect all 5 until much later in the game. ======================= 1.3 BLITHERING HEIGHTS ======================= Firstly you need to visit Rex in his house. He will tell you about General Guyver and that you need to go to a cave east of town. ---Buildings of note--- - King Syril's House. Chest: agility seed. - Rex's house. Here you meet Rex for the first time but he won't join you yet. - Sailor's house. - Faith house. The 1st door can be opened by Angel with Level 2 faith. Chest contains 500gp The 2nd door can be opened by Angel with Level 4 faith. Cow, but only once Janette joins team. The 3rd door can be opened by Angel with Level 6 faith. Chest contains hymmn book ---People of note--- Lizzie's lost baby. However when you return here later looking for it, it won't be there. ---Side quests--- - King Syril is looking for his missing queen. - The clown has lot his clown hat. - The sailor living in the sailor's house has lost her pet frog. - The shopper in the item shop wants carrots. (and later other items) Road to Blithering Caves ======================== Enemies: Leech wasps, Mutant penguins Treasure chests: Bitter herb, power seed Follow the path until you get to the caves. Blithering Caves ================ Enemies: Toxic bats, Trolls, Ssissters Treasure chests: Iron shield, Light suit, bitter herb, Barbute, 2 medium potions At the front right of the cave there is an entrance blocked off, preventing you from entering. Guarded by 3 sssisssters. You can kill them now if you want, but can't advance yet. There are 2 orbs glowing red. You must change them to green by flicking switches deeper in the cave. There are two sides of the cave you must go to. Left and Right. Each one contains a switch at the end that needs to be activated to change orbs to green. ---Left side--- On the left side there is a multi choice test in one part of the caves. You must stand on the correct button that represents the correct answer. You must answer all 3 questions to cause a rope ladder to fall down to advance and get to the 1st switch. All answers were given by villagers in Blithering Heights. 1) B = Roast Corned Beef 2) D = 42 3) A = Wacko Jacko You can now cross over and activate a switch that will change the left orb to green. ---Right side--- On the right side you have spike traps to cross. Just wait until the spikes go down and move ahead. Take care or you will lose a lot of HP. Perhaps even die. Flick the switch there to change the right orb to green. Instead of trying to return back through the spike traps (which would be suicide) just jump off the ledge south of the switch. Return back to the beginning of the caves. You will now find that the orbs are green and the path is open to enter the main cave. (the troll cave) When you try to enter Rex will turn up and join your team. Progress through to the troll cave. ---Main caves--- Enemies: Trolls Boss: Hexaconda. Treasure chest: Carrots Save place. No healing. After defeating the hexaconda you can enter the next cavern to see General Guyver. You can then return to Blithering Heights, head to the port and enter the ship awaiting you. ========= 1.4 SHIP ========= Treasure chests: 2 revive dusts, power seed, bitter herb, chainmail As soon as you decide to go to sleep (talk to the guard down stairs where Cliff is sleeping), the game will move forward. You will awaken to a noise on desk. It's monsters and you have to kill them. After killing them go back downstairs to the galley. A soldier will intercept you to tell you, you are needed on the bridge. You will now be able to go into the bridge even thought the doors were locked earlier. Speak to General Guyver. Speak to the Captain and you will arrive at Boozetown. ============== 1.5 BOOZETOWN ============== Cliff will leave the party to go for a drink in one of the bars. Explore the town. When you are done, head to the Evildrome Boozerama to pick up Cliff. Leave at the southern exit into the desert. Buildings of note ================= ---Booz--- The bar where nobody cares about your name. ---Fido's Return--- A bar for old fogies. There is a man in here passed out. Angel can move him with Faith level 1. A sweet herb is there to be picked up. ---Evildrome Boozerama--- Cliff is here and if you want to continue with the mission you can have him return to your team. Also here is Samuninja named Wino. Once your base is set up in Cassidy he will join if you buy him a pan galactic gargle blaster (500GP) The bartender, Mike can be recruited here once Janette has joined you. Pass his drinking test and he will become your bartender at the restaurant in Cassidy. You get to choose who will do the test. Rex will pass the test. Angel can pass it if she has a faith level of 3 or more. ---Drunken Sod Hotel--- You can sneak past the bartender with level 2 sneak and steal from the chest - Dexterity seed. After you have set up your base in Cassidy, a chef will be here. You can recruit him for your restaurant. ---Smash house--- In here Rex can use his smash skill to advance through the house and gain items from chests. 1st boulder = smash level 1. Treasure: Degasse 2nd boulder = smash level 4. Treasure: Life seed 2nd boulder = smash level 7. Treasure: Sapphire Orb. There is also a Samuninja in here named Hari Kari who appears only once the Cassidy base is established. He can be recruited by talking to him. People of note ============== Samuninja next to inn. Supuku. He will only join if Rok has been promoted. Side quests =========== - Lizzie in the Booz bar has lost her baby. Help her find it. - George at the inn is looking for a book by IR Dee called "Ripping People off". - Agatha at Fido's Return has lost her cat. - A drunken bum at the Drunken Sod Hotel has had his harp stolen by an orc. Desert Road =========== Enemies: Skeletons, Giant cobras, sand snappers Treasure chests in desert: Bastard sword, steel shield, 500GP, power potion Treasure chests in caves: Bastard sword, intelligence seed, In the first cave there is a puzzle to solve. You must turn the handles into the correct positions to open up a path below. It's a song: Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. You need to put the lines from the song in the right order and then turn the switches to the position mentioned on the sign below. Correct order: 1st switch: 7 0'clock 2nd switch: 5 0'clock 3rd switch: 6 0'clock Make your way through the caves and the desert. Save point = save only. No healing. You wil see Lizzie's baby in an area of the desert you can't reach. Don't worry. The baby will turn up later on in another place. Save stone = save plus heal. Just near the save stone is a boulder that Rex can smash with level 1 skills. Fight the cobras and you can get Agatha's cat behind them. You cannot go through the western path blocked by a rock yet. The entrance to Cassidy is just to the left of the save stone. ======================== 1.6 CASSIDY - 1ST VISIT ======================== Enemies: Imperial soldiers, Dark Mages, Imperial commanders. Cassidy is a huge town/city where you establish your base. (see below for more details on the base) On arrival you will find that it is deserted of townsfolk but there are imperial soldiers waiting to ambush you all over the place. You need to kill most of them at some stage even if you don't do it now, otherwise they will continue to be pests. You need to make your way through to the castle to the prison downstairs where the town mayor is being imprisoned. Once you have released him and talked to him, Janette will arrive to help out. She will join your battle party while Angel goes back to Boozetown. You then need to head back out into the desert to the pile of rocks blocking a path just above where Agatha's cat was/is. Rex will smash the rocks and enable you to pass through. Beyond that is the Tower of Trials. ==================== 1.7 TOWER OF TRIALS ==================== Shitsue, the Samuninja will appear outside this tower once the base in Cassidy has been established. Enemies: Ogres, Zombies, Gargoyles Boss: Hell Machine Treasure chests: Archer's wear, Halberd, Pumpkin seeds, Bitter herb, Super light shield, Hauberk Save stone = full healing Examine the chess piece and Janette will find a switch to open the door. The main challenge in these tower levels is the chess boards. You need to follow the instruction on the sign and move the necessary piece to the square on the board where it needs to be. This will open up the door to the next level. You will only have limited moves in which to push your chess piece to the right square. If you run out of moves or end up with your piece in a place where you can't move it, then press the reset button, although it will cost 200GP each time you do a reset. Chess solutions: Level 1: Push the black rook (castle) straight up to the wall so that it's on the same line as the white king. Level 2: The black queen needs to be pushed to the square just below the white king. You can push the queen off the board to get around there. Level 3: You need to move the black king to a square where he will not be able to be checkmated next time white moves. It needs to be moved left 1 then up 1. Level 4: You need to move the black knight (horse) up 2 and right 1. Level 5: You need to trap the queen so that no matter what it does, it will be taken in the next move. Move the black pawn that is on the second row up one space. On level 2 you will find that a path to a treasure chest is blocked by a boulder. Rex will need Level 2 smash to destroy it. Item????????? Save point at Level 3 is a save only. No healing. On level 5 you will meet Joey for the first time near a treasure chest. The chest cannot be unlocked by you. You will find it empty later. Save point at the top of level 5 saves only. No healing. Once you have opened the door on the 5th level, approach the changing chess piece. Once you have killed the Hell Machine enter the room and talk to General Nessa. You can't teleport out so go back out, where you will come across Joey. He will join your team and teleport you out. ======================== 1.8 CASSIDY - 2ND VISIT ======================== Allied troops are now here, but you may still find some imperial troops loitering around waiting for you to appear. Yeah, yeah, lazy allied soldiers can't be bothered dealing with them, so you will have to. Head to the council chambers to meet with Mayor Frimby, Angel, Janette, General Guyver and General Nessa. Once the meeting is done you can head to the port and sail to Deadweird. On the ship there will be more items to get from the hold: Potato Seeds and Bitter Herb Head to the bridge and ask the captain to take you to Deadweird. =============== 1.9 DEADWEIRD =============== Buildings of note ================= ---Sharp Eye House--- Each room has a hidden key that only Janette can find depending on her Sharp Eye Level 1st Room: Writing Desk. Sharp Eye level 1. Chest = Elixir. 2nd Room: Deer head. Sharp Eye Level 3. Chest = Carrot seeds 3rd Room: Tea Pot. Sharp Eye level 7. Target can be shot on the wall. ---Deadweird morgue--- Brad is here and can be recruited to set up an arena at Cassidy. Inkles is also there with a sidequest. See below. Side quests =========== - Cedrick at the fish house wants the corpse of a Feary. - Deadrick near the tree is looking for some weed killer. - Greg the gardener requires stink berries before he will join you at Cassidy. - Sui Wonton is outside the Cave of Tremors and wants some boots the were left in the cave by his brother Sal. You first need to find Gruesome Brusome who is in the inn. If you don't, the entrance to the Cave of Tremors will be blocked by Sui Wonton who will not move. You can then head to the Caves of Tremors out the east exit of town. You will see Lizzie's baby on the upper plateau, but you can't get to it. ==================== 1.10 CAVE OF TREMORS ==================== Enemies: Ice horrors, Fearies, Ice elementals Treasure chests 1st area: Scimitar, Sal Wonton's boots, Elixir, Treasure chests 2nd area: eggs, sweet herb, super potion. Treasure chests 3rd area: 500gp, skill seed Treasure chests 4th area: Katar, cabasset Teriyucki, Samuninja is in the area to the left. Rex needs to smash the stalamites, but must have level 5 smash skills. Sal Wonton's boots are in a chest partially hidden by a stalagmite in the top left corner of the first area. Janette has to be in the battle party with level 1 sharp eye. The chest in the first cavern requires level 2 lock pick skills by Joey, to open. Contains scimitar. Flicking the switch on the upper right path will open up a stairway through the middle near the entrance. You will find a spike trap near the top but you can't cross it without turning it off. The pink buttons will turn off the trap temporarily, but you have to move fast. In the second area there is a metal ball. Fight the faeries here and one of the corpses will remain. You can collect it. Once again you will have to active a switch to open up a stairway to advance deeper into the cave. One of the treasure chests is hidden in a pile of rubble. It can only be seen with Janette in the party. Sharp eye level 1 In the third area there is another spike trap. Once again you have to trigger the switch and hurry to get past it. There will be a switch there to open up another staircase, however the switch to turn off the spike trap to return, is a bit further away. It stays off though so there is no rush to get back. The fourth area has rolling boulders which can damage you. There is a save stone that fully heals all party members. Take care making your way around. Make use of the safety bays when needed. Follow boulders when you can, in the direction they are travelling to avoid being hit. Your goal is to get to the bottom right end of the cavern where the extra fast boulders are rolling. You can push a stationary boulder in the path of the fast boulders to stop them and make it safer to go through. Enter into the final cavern where General Phil will meet you. There is a treasure chest there containing leather head gear. Joey needs level 1 lock picking. There is a special save orb there you can save at. No healing. You can exit the cavern You will have 3 battles to fight outside the cave. After the battles are done you need to reenter the cave to see how Clff is. ========================= 1.11 CASSIDY - 3RD VISIT ========================= You wil be back in the council chambers with some decisions to make. (see a few lines down) After the meeting, go to the inn and collect Cliff. (you can't leave without him) Next task is to set sail for the City of Heroes. Speak to the captain on the ship when you are ready to sail. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD. If you don't want to know the best decisions to make at the meeting, do not read on. 1) Which town to trade supplies with? Deadweird - The food is weird. 4 men in the army will desert. Boozetown - You will break even. Blithering Heights - You will make a profit of 3000gp 2) Who will you send out to hire more recruits for general duties? Janette? Angel? It makes no difference who you send. It all depends on who you'd rather have stay in your battle party. 3) The soldiers are squabbling and they are bored. What activities shall you get them to do to entertain them? Fighting matches? - Is good for moral and gave some good training. Gentle games/tournaments - Not popular at first but gains popularity. You will get a gift of an intelligence seed. Cricket - Very popular. Sports betting brings in 2000gp 4) There is a rat problem. Pay 3000GP to have the problem fixed or solve the problem yourself? If you choose to deal with this yourself, you need to get a cat pronto and have it sent to the farm. If you don't then the next time you meet here for a meeting you will find out that all your chickens are dead. Also some men will have deserted the alliance due to the bad conditions. 5) What training shall the troops focus on? Running Armed Combat Swimming ==================== 1.12 CITY OF HEROES ==================== Buildings of note ================= ---Inn--- On the upper level is Sal Wonton, the brother of Sui Wonton. He will only join if Sui has joined. ---Don's house--- At the right side of town. There is a locked room but you need to access an underground passage to get to it. You can get there by examining the gravestone at the top left above the church. If Janette is in the battle party and has sharp eye 2, she will see a hole in the bushes to go down. Hee Ya, the Samuninja is in the tunnel. Items: Steel armour, 2000gp, sweet herb, Cabbage seeds, dexterity seed. ---Rex's house--- Treasure chests: Power seed, potato ---Test centre--- There are several tests you need to pass to advance. Test 1: Metal Ball. Angel needed. Faith level 4 Test 2: Sneak. Level 7 needed. Test 3: Locked door. Joey needed. Level 6 pick lock. You can pick up a pig here. Test 4: Secret switch. Janette needed. Level 7 sharp eye. Test 5: Smash boulder. Rex needed. Smash level 7. Treasures: Robo armour, Candy, Gold orb, haste boots, sword of light, 3000gp, elixir, resurrect dust Side quests =========== - Toymota on the wharf has lost the key to his chest and needs someone to unlock it. - Murray, at the inn wants a Terrordactyl head to prove he is a hero. - Molly up by the church wants mushrooms. - Claude in the academy wants you to bring him back a Fiend head to prove yourself. Go to see Don in one of the houses. His wife Tina has headed into the Graven ruins and has not returned. She knows where General Wal and his forces are. Head out he west exit and keep going east to the ruins of Graven ===================== 1.13 RUINS OF GRAVEN ===================== Head east along the road until you get to the ruins. Don't worry about heading up the mountain at this point. Graven enemies: Orcs, Spiteful spooks, Ghouls Optional Boss: Orc King (area 2) Main Boss: Feind (area 3) Graven chests 1st area: Sweet herb,. Gothic axe Graven chests 2nd area: Belt of life, Elixir, Resurrect dust, power seed Graven chests 3rd area: Thinking cap, corn Side quests =========== - Morgan in the rundown house near the entrance wants you to kill the Orc King. - Don Kee requires you to kill 25 ghouls 1st area Firstly enter the destroyed house at the entrance and speak to Morgan. At the far west bottom corner is a ruined house and a teleporter. Janette must be in the battle party for you to see it and must have level 3 sharp eye. This teleporter takes you to the upper part of the map to a target on the wall. Step up to the target and press enter to shoot it. In one of the ruined houses is Lizzie's baby but you can't get into that house so forget about it. There is a ruined house there but the entrance is blocked by rubble. This requires Angel with level 4 faith to move it. There is a similar ruin in the upper right corner with rocks blocking. Rex can smash them with level 4 smash. 2nd area A teleporter there will take you over to another part of the map. There is a teleporter to the top right but there is a sensor device there. You need to have level 4 sneak to get past it otherwise you'll be damaged and knocked back. You don't need to go through to advance in the game but if you want to kill the orc king you do. To advance you need to reach the switch there to turn on the teleporter. The teleporter will take you to the Orc King. The save stone there does not work until after you kill the king. It will heal you completely. If you look below the teleporter next to the sensor, you will see what appears to be a short passage and a dead end. However it is not a dead end. There is a teleporter there and it will take you to one of the Samuninja - Don Kee. He will only join you if you kill 25 ghouls there at the ruins. Advance to the bottom right of area 2 to progress to area 3. 3rd Area Alliance soldiers have been living hear, but are now dead. You will find useful items on their bodies. You will also find some food items left there which will heal either HP or SP. In one of the ruined houses there is a teleporter which will take you to a treasure chest. Another teleporter there will take you over to a well. The save stone there will save only. No healing. Check out the dead bodies and the well will reveal a woman. Yes, Don's wife Kate. You will then be attacked by a feind. The feind has the drunken bum's harp that you need to find for a sidequest. The open treasure chest there is not actually empty. There is a teleporter which will take you to a sheep that you can send to your farm. Once you have rescued Kate you can either rest up in town or head up the mountains... ====================== 1.14 ROAD TO BERSTERD ====================== Head up the mountain and kill the Terrordactyl in your pathway. There is a 20% chance that if you kill a terrordactyl you will get an intact Terrordactyl head. Enemies: Terrordactyls, Harpies, Fire wolves. Flame wolves, Orcs Treasure chests: 5000gp, sweet herb, Once in the mountains there are three possible paths to take: - Left path: will take you to a crop of stink berries. - Middle path will take you to a mushroom and the path leading up to Bersterd Prison. You can't get into Bersterd Prison yet, but you can explore the area if you wish. - Right path will lead you to the Bersterd mines which is where you need to go next. If heading up the middle path to Bersterd Prison: You will come across an orc in front of a rock. Rex needs level 6 smash to destroy the rock. When you cross the bridge near the top of the mountain you will find Chu Chu, the Samuninja, standing behind the solitary tree there. You want to head east at this point to the mines of Bersterd. Talk to Major Collins there and rest up. Go to the left mine for a trader. If you wish you can take a short cut through the right mine to the top of the mountain, but you still can't go into the Prison yet. Head back to Cassidy to discuss what to do next. ========================= 1.15 CASSIDY - 4TH VISIT ========================= Once you end up back at Cassidy you will automatically be teleported to the meeting room to discuss strategy. There will be some issues to deal with too. (see a few lines down) Once done with the meeting you can head for Bersterd Prison. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD. If you don't want to know the best decisions to make at the meeting, do not read on. 1) If you have not sorted out your rat problem, it will be worse than ever and 3 men will have deserted. You either need to pay 4000GP for eradication or you can once again opt to solve the problem yourself. Go catch a cat. 2) The army has a shortage of shields. Where shall they go to trade to get some more? City of Heroes - You need to do at least 1 training session swimming if you choose this or you will lose the power of 2 men in your army City of Crooks - The products will be shoddy and you will have to pay money to have them repaired or lose man power as a result Snobsville - Great quality shields and will increase your man power. 3) It has been decided that you should make use of the town hall for entertainment. What sort of shows should be put on? Theatre Bands to play music. Stand up comedy It doesn't matter which one you pick. Some will earn a more money than the other when you go to collect at the town hall. 4) What training shall the troops focus on? Running Armed Combat Swimming (you will need at least one lot of swimming training if you got your shields from City of Heroes otherwise you will lose the power of 2 men in your overall forces) ==================== 1.16 BERSTERD PRISON ==================== Enemies: Prison guards, Sentinals, Guard dogs You can now enter the prison through the well outside. There is a save stone inside which does full healing. ---Level 1--- Treasure chests: Healing spray, Battle axe, sweet herb, 2000gp, Hell claws, Life seed, pork, 5 power potions. The first locked door you comes to needs to be unlocked using a switch on the opposite side in a room full of guards. There is a room with two chests in it. Lock pick level 5 is neeeded. There is a cell contain three guard dogs. One of them has a key on it's collar. You need to open up the cell and attack them to get the key. With this key you can unlock the door to the right which is guarded by a sentinal. Side quest: There is a woman in the cell that contains a shield. She needs you to get a message to her brother Zippo in one of the cells upstairs. If you return here later the cell will be empty and you can get the shield. ---Level 2--- Treasure chests: Agility seed, belt of might, Life shield, 3000GP, There is a disabled sentinal blocking some treasure chests here. Angel with level 5 faith can move it. Lizzie's baby is in one of the cells here but you can't get into it. At the bottom right corner there is a switch that will activate sentinals that are deactivated. You need to do this to get them to move out of the way of places they are blocking. At the top left there are two more switches plus a boulder. Rex needs level 6 smash to destroy this boulder. The first switch deactivates the spike traps. The second switch will deactivate the sentinals. If you need to you can activate them again. The save stone at the top of the level saves but no heal. ---Level 3--- Treasure chests: Milk, super elixir Moving the box in the cell will open up a teleporter near the entrance to this level. It will teleport you to the opposite side of the floor. At the bottom left room there is a door that leads outside where you can get a pig. ---Level 4--- Treasure chests: Resurrect dust, ninja hood Zippo is in the first cell you come to. You can deliver Zelda's letter. ---Level 5--- Treasure chests: VIP Key Eg Fu Yung, the Samuninja is locked in one of the cells there. Joey can pick the lock with level 4 skills. Save stone is save only. No healing. Leonard the trader is there to sell you items. There is a large area with sentinals. If you step onto the floor they will be activated. You need to find a way to deactivate them. You need to find 4 hidden gems and place them on the busts at the bottom left of the level. Where to find them: 1) The Super sentinal guarding the busts holds one. Kill it to get it. 2) Buy one from Leonard for 2000gp 3) The suit of armour in the same room as Leonard also has one. 4) The other one is in the room with all the sentinals. It's in the bust there. Stepping on the floor to get it will activate the sentinals but you will be able to get out of their fast enough to get back to the other 4 busts. Once you've placed all 4 gems, the sentinals will be deactivated and all the doors opened. There is a chest in the room with a VIP key. It can be used to unlock the two cells containing Genral Wal and a familiar character. You need to talk to both men but it doesn't matter what order. You will have to fight the guy in the first cell. Exit out the top right door. You will be prevented from leaving by Frida and her men. She will cast a spell on you which knocks you out. You will wake up in the large cell below. Talk to each of your comrades and then a hole in the wall will open. The bounty hunter will appear. He introduces himself as Sideous and he has activated a teleporter above for you to escape. If you want to recruit the trader Leonard, now is the best time before you teleport out or else you will have to return later. (There will be a teleporter outside the prison to the 6th level, so you won't have to start from the 1st level.) Once you teleport, you will be immediately transported back to Cassidy and then to a meeting. ========================= 1.17 CASSIDY - 5TH VISIT ========================= There will be some issues to deal with too. (see further down) After the meeting head to the Inn to check on Joey. Then head to the Cassidy prison to speak to Sideous who is locked up. Then go to the inn for a sleep. The imperials will attack and you will have several battles to fight. The larger your force of people recruited, the less battles you will have to fight. There is no saving between battles. Enemies: Commandos, Golems, Warlocks Bosses: Sir Drex, Cliff Once the battles are over and Cliff has escaped and Sir Drex imprisoned, you can finally set sail for Margia. Speak to the captain to set sail. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD. If you don't want to know the best decisions to make at the meeting, do not read on. If you purchased shields from the City of Crooks they will be of poor quality. You will either have to pay 3000gp to get them up to scratch or lose 3 man power. You can import seeds from a farmer. Just one type. What will it be? Carrots Cabbages Potatos Corn It doesn't matter which seeds you choose. Just try to choose one you don't already have growing in your garden. Stocks of alcohol are low. For the morale of the troops you need to stock up. Which place will you import that alcohol from? Boozetown. They won't be able to spare much so you will have to pay 3000gp to get more in. City of Crooks. Will be watered down and men will desert. Snobsville. Top quality. Donations by drunk soliders: 3000gp There is a flying beast terrorising the farm animals. How will you deal with it? Have General Guyver take some men and kill it. - The men will be killed and it will cost a lot more to exterminate the beast. Have a squad of exterminators hired to kill it (3000gp cost) - problem solved. Deal with it yourself - you will need to kill it then or it will continue to be a problem. =========== 1.18 MARGIA =========== Enemies: Highway men, Nasty brats, Killer sheep Treasure chests: Pumpkin., Force shield, power seed There is a pumpkin in a chest up the left path behind a tree. Take the other path to get to the City of Crooks. Follow the meandering path and step on the teleporter behind the tree. ==================== 1.19 CITY OF CROOKS ==================== Beware of pickpockets here. They can steal money off you. You need to go to Gwig's house and talk to him. House on the right side of town. Gwig will tell you that you need a password to pass through the Frigid Mountains. It is "Shawn of the Dead". You can skip seeing him and just go up and give the password. Buildings of note ================= ---Inn--- - King Syril's wife is in the inn. If you accepted the quest from King Syril at Blithering Heights she wil accompany you. - There is a guy guarding a treasure chest. Pay him 500gp and he will let you open the chest. It contains a Power seed. - There is a chest there that cannot be unlocked. Unless you have Toymota's key. ---Gwig's House--- On the right side of town. Treasure chest - Sweet herb ---2 storey rock house--- You have to pay 1500gp to enter here. Lizzie's baby is on the first level balcony, but if you go up there she will not be there. In the bedroom on the book shelf is the book "How to rip people off" by I R Dee. Quest item. Treasure chest downstairs: If you have Toymota's key you can get into this chest. Contents: Dragonmail Treasure chests upstairs: Resurrect dust, intelligence seed ---Sneak house--- At the top right corner of town. You need to sneak past the guys in there to get to each treasure chest. Need level 6 sneak for chest 1: super elixir. Need level 7 sneak for chest 2: 5000gp There is also a chicken there that is pretty fast and difficult to catch. Need level 8 sneak for chest 3: 10,000xp for each team member. Need level 9 sneak for chest 4: Mitre People of Note ============== -There is a guy at the bottom east corner of town who has a treasure chest. He will sell you what's in it for 4000GP It is the emerald orb -There is a guy at the top right corner of town who has a treasure chest. He will sell you what's in it for 500GP It is a power potion. -You will find two Samuninjas hidden around here. Janette needs to be on the team to see them. -Haw Shett is standing behind the inn. Janette needs Level 7 sharp eye to see him. -Chic Shett is harder to see but he is standing behind one of the rock pillars up from Haw. He wants a power seed before he will join you. You can buy one from the guy guarding the treasure chest in the inn. There is also one in a chest in the Frigid Mountains. ===================== 1.20 FRIGID MOUNTAINS ===================== ---Area 1--- Enemies: Highway men, Killer sheep, Horned beasts, Nasty brats, Blue dragons Treasure chests: 2 sweet herbs, power seed You need Angel to enter the cave at the bottom of the mountain. So you can't go in yet. Further up you will come across a samuninja (Sess Emie) who wants the password. The password is "Shawn of the Dead". He will join you after you give him the correct password. Down the left side there is a snow man. It requires a marble skull to be placed into it. The marble skull is in a snowman on the opposite side of the mountain. Get that skull and place it into this snowman. There is a chest at the top of the mountain there. It will unlock when you place the marble skull into the snowman on the left side of the mountain. The chest contains a Metal skull. Place the metal skull in the snowman below (the one you removed the marble skull from) and a wooden plank will slide across the bridge below to allow you to pass. Exit out to area 2 to the right. ---Area 2--- Enemies: Screechers, Killer sheep, Blue dragons, Horned beasts Treasure chests: Dodge ring, heal spray At the top of this area is a teleporter that can only be seen by Janette with level 9 sharp eye. This will allow you to skip over to the other side and avoid having to find dynamite to blow the rocks that block your path in the middle. The teleport will take you to the right side of area 2. If you can't see the teleporter then you will have to go through until you get to the rocks that need blasting. The man there has some dynamite but will only give it to you if you find him some dry fire wood. Check around the piles of wood in the area until you find some dry wood and then return to the man. He will make the trade and you can use the dynamite to blow up the rocks and progress. Head to the right and go into area 3. ---Area 3-- Enemies: Blue dragons, Horned beasts, Killer sheep Treasure chests: Mitheral armour, candy, 2 sweet herbs Once you get to the bridge that is booby trapped, you will need to return and check out the wooden posts you've seen along the way and find two good ones you can put into the bridge to make it secure. Find two good posts and return to the bridge and place them. Cross the bridge. Head right to Area 4 ---Area 4--- Enemies: Killer sheep, blue dragons, screeechers, horned beasts Treasure chests: Resurrect dust, Helm of protection There is a trader here who sells items. There are signs here with information about famous pro wrestlers from the planet Earth. There will be a quiz coming up further along and you will need to know the information that's on the signs. Sign 1: Jake the Snake Roberts is known for his finishing manouvre, the DDT. Sign 2: Andre the Giant is the 8th wonder of the world. Sign 3: Kane used to be an insane dentist Sign 4: Ax and Smash teamed together as Demolition. Sign 5: Bret Hart is nicknamed the Excellence of Execution You will then come to a line of yellow androids. Each will ask you a question and you have to give the answer based on the above signs. If you get one wrong horned beasts will attack you. ---Area 5--- Enemies: Horned beasts, Killer sheep, blue dragons. Bosses: Venom Raptor, Blood Raptor Treasure chests: Agility seed, 2 resurrect dusts. Finally, in this area you will be able to find and collect Lizzie's baby. A bit further up is a save place. No healing. Once at the peak step between the two rocks and you will get a view of the land. Then will come a boss battle. Once the battle is done you will end up back in Cassidy in the meeting room. ========================= 1.21 CASSIDY - 6TH VISIT ========================= Once you are done with the meeting go down to the prison to see Sir Drex. You must talk to your two companions awaiting you there first before talking to Drex. He will tell you about the cave at the foot of the Frigid Mountains and advise you to take Angel so that she can use faith to unblock the entrance. =================== 1.22 MONSTRO CAVES =================== Enemies: Winged things, Cave dwellers, Dragorias, Water elementals Boss: Mimic King ---Area 1--- Treasure chests: Corn seeds, 2 sweet herbs, Life seed Go to the foot of the Frigid Mountains and have Angel move the rocks that are blocking the entrance. She will need level 6 faith to do it. Save stone. No healing. Check out the stalagmite blocking your way into the caves. Push the cart to the right to smash through the stalagmite. In the next area you will have to push carts around to blow up areas blocking your way through. You will have to move tracks so the cart can go where you want it to go. There is a chess piece there which will reset tracks and carts if you need to. Leave the cart for now. Go up to the two switches at the dead end and flick the first one. Flick the two switches on the right side of the caves. Now push the cart. Keep pushing it until it is on the other side of the big pile of rocks in the middle of the cave. Now go back down to the 2 switches at the dead end and flick the right one. Now go to the cart and push it up into the crystals. Save stone at the entrance to area 2. No healing. ---Area 2--- Treasure chests: Pork, healing spray, Staff of suffering, Tear gas, Holy crown, Intelligence seed, Boost armour In this area you will have choices of which routes you will take. Once you choose one path you cannot go the other. So some chests you will not be able to open and some monsters you will not be able to kill. Some paths also require high levels of skills like smash and lock pick to get through. Note: switches do not necessarily open paths right next to them. Red lights change to green to indicate which paths are clear. ---Area 3--- Treasure chests: 2 sweet herbs, candy There is a music puzzle in this area. There are six xylophones and they are paired up. The pairs play the same tunes. You need to work out which ones are paired up and play one then play the other. When you get a pair, one of the holes that block your entrance to area 3 at the top right of the cave will be covered. Pairs: 1) Bottom left, Middle right 2) Top left, Top middle 3) Top right, Middle left Every time you get one right more water elementals will appear from the pool at the bottom. ---Area 4--- Treasure chests: Ruby orb, Power seed, Mitheral shield, resurrect dust, 20 funguy teeth, Warmer ring, shiner pedendant This area has unstable ground which can crumble. Some times it will block your path and you will have to find some other way around. You need to find a skull to advance to the next area. At one point you will fall through to an area teaming with Mimic chests. In the first cavern there you will find Suki Yaki of the Samuninja guarding a treasure chest. You will need sneak level 7 to get to it. Once Suki sees how good you are at sneaking she joins. You need to find a goblin in the middle of area 4. She knows where the skull is but needs her dress cleaned. You need to get her dress from the stand and find a water supply to clean it. To find it drop down a hole into the lower area and climb the the other ladder there. You will find a well to clean it. Take the dress back to the goblin. She will tell you to find Gronto who is in the tunnel below. Go back down to the pit with the dragorias and go to the far east side. Gronto is a gremlin there. Gronto has lost his ring and you need to find it. Go back to the place you entered the area to the far bottom right corner. The ring is in the middle of the fungi growing there. Go back to Gronto and he will tell you he put the skull in a chest, but the chest ended up being a monster. Look down and you will see a blue mimic amongst the other mimics. That's the one you have to kill to get the skull. Go back to the first hole you fell down and go fight the mimic king. You need to get back down to the table at the bottom left, however you need a rope ladded to get down there. Get the rope ladder from the top left corner. Place it where you need to climb down. Place the skull on the table and a teleporter will appear. This will take you to Monstro City. You need level 5 lock picking to get through the door. ================== 1.23 MONSTRO CITY ================== The shops will be closed until you have seen Gagash who lives in the house at the top right. He is a tiger. You will then have to fight Frida. Once you've beaten her you can then be free to explore the town completely. The monsters will cooperate. Stay the night at the inn and your forces will arrive. You will find that the men are waiting at the teleporter on the bottom right. From there you will be going to the final part of the game, however you will be able to return any time you want to and you will also be able to change party members to suit. When you are ready speak to General Guyver and launch the invasion When you are ready go to the teleporter. Buildings of note ================= Chest house. There are three chests here but you can only go into one room. 1) 5 resurrurect dusts, 10 super potions, 5 sweet herbs, Dexterity seed. 2) Arrows of death 3) Robo Armour ====================== 1.24 GOBAGOV INVASION ====================== Enemies: Elite Soldiers, Elite Captains, Abominations Boss: Thrax How many men you have to fight through to get to the castle of Gobagov all depends on how large your forces are. The more men you have recruited the more of the enemy your forces will have vanquished before you get there. That means less men to fight. After beating Thrax you will be at the entrance to Gogagov Castle. You can save and heal here. You can also teleport out of Gobagov if you wish to go do some other things first. Sebastian is also there to sell you items if you need them. Talk to General Wal and you can resort your team. If you teleport out you will find that at the connection point there is a teleport pad to teleport straight back to Gobagov Castle. ==================== 1.25 GOBAGOV CASTLE ==================== Enemies: Royal Guard, Demented dolls, Super Sentinals, Court Magicians Treasures: Resurrect Dust, Master's cap, Titan helmet, Special cape, Ultimate bandana, Body building gauntlets, Helmet of Salvation, power seed, resurrect dust, Hercules ring, Agility seed, super elixir, Miracle crown, intelligence seed, 5 sweet herb, healing spray, The first floor has guards, but there's nothing to do here except open the chest on the right. You can head straight up. ---Area 2--- You need to trigger the switches so that the angels face to the right. There are four switches. From the left they should be switched: right, left, right, left. This will open up the way right. ---Area 3--- First room requires Smash level 9 Third room requires Lock pick level 8. Chest requires level 9 ---Area 4--- Make your way to the big staircase. ---Area 5--- The save stone at the end of the area heals your party. Get the lighter from the treasure chest You need to move quickly here. Now you have to light fire to the Fire stand, Strawman, Dress and the Piano. They stay alight for different periods of time. Start as the strawman first. Light all 4 before they go out and you will be able to exit the area. ---Area 6--- Make your way through and loot chests. ---Area 7--- Change the clock in the first room to 10pm. This will open the door further down the hallway. First locked door requires Faith level 9 ---Area 8--- You have to trigger switches and these open doors. The problem is you have to return switches back to the their original positions once you reach certain rooms as these switches usually operate two doors at the same time. (I haven't had time to work out the exact order so you are on your own with this one. But it's been well tested so if you can't get through keep trying with the various combinations of switches.) ---Area---9 The throne room and final battle awaits... Bosses: King Granch, Cliff ######################################################################## ## 2 SIDEQUESTS - HOW TO COMPLETE THEM ## ######################################################################## ---Gloomsville--- - Help Mikey find his ball. He is on the upper west side of town. It has been hidden by Trevor another boy there in town. You will find the ball in the barrel next to Rina's house. The one without a lid. Reward: Ring of Strength, 20 xp. - Help Maxine at the Gloomsville Inn find her missing diary. It is in a chest in the 2nd room in the house at the right side of town. - Noel at the top right of the Gloomsvile Cathedral has lot his late wife's broach in the forest. The broach can be found in a treasure chest in the Gloomsville forest guarded by a sleazard. Reward: 100GP and 50xp ---Snobsville--- - Help Clarke get his letter from his grandfather stolen by a gremlin. Clarke's letter can be found early in the 2nd area of the Snobsville sewer, on the floor. Rewards: Skill seed, 100xp - Help Frida find her doll which was stolen by a mutant penguin. You can find a mutant penguin standing on his own in area 2 on the road from Snobsville to Blithering Heights. Kill that penguin and you will get Frida's doll. Reward: 400xp - Help Lisa steal the item that is in Martha's chest. You will need Sneak level 5 to do this. Rewards: Dexterity ring, Crucifix, 500xp - Help Claribell get a replacement brick for the town clock. You can find one in a treasure chest in the 1st area of the Snobsville sewers. Rewards: 300GP, 100xp ---Blithering Heights--- - King Syril is looking for his missing queen. You will not be able to find her until much later on in the game at the City of Crooks. You can find her in the inn at City of Crooks. Rewards: Staff of Wisdom and 5000gp. - The clown has lost his clown hat. There is a troll in the Blithering Caves off to the left side on his own amongst some green plants. Kill him and you get the clown hat. Rewards: clown hat, 500xp - The sailor living in the sailor's house has lost her pet frog. You can find the frog in the box to the right of the houses there. Rewards: Agility boots, 300xp - The shopper in the item shop want carrots. You can find some in a chest in the Blithering Caves (in the main troll cave). Rewards: 300gp + 500xp. After you get carrots for the shopper he will want a pumpkin. You can grow one at your garden in Cassidy or find one at Margia. (From the port take the left path up.) Rewards: 500GP, 700xp ---Boozetown--- - Lizzie, in the Booz bar has lost her baby. Help her find it. The baby turns up in places that you just can't get to. Or it simply disappears when you reach it. It's not until you get to to the last area of the Frigid Mountains that you can get the baby and return it to Lizzie. Rewards: Holy water. 6000XP - George, at the inn, is looking for a book by IR Dee called "Ripping People off". This cannot be found until you reach the City of Crooks. It is in a book shelf in the 2 storied rock house. Rewards: 5000GP, 4000XP - Agatha, at Fido's Return has lost her cat. Her cat can be found gaurded by 2 giant cobras in the desert just outside Cassidy. Rewards: Resurrect Dust, 500XP - A drunken bum at the Drunken Sod Hotel has had his harp stolen by an orc. You will not be able to recover it until you get to the ruins of Graven. Kill the King Orc in area 2 and he will have the harp on him. Rewards: Winged Helm, 2000XP ---Deadweird--- - Cedrick at the fish house wants the corpse of a Feary. In the second area of the Cave of Tremors, there is a metal ball. Fight the faeries here and one of the corpses will remain. You can collect it. Rewards: Agility seed, 1000GP, 1500xp - Deadrick near the tree is looking for some weed killer. You can purchase some for 1000GP at the item shop in the City of Heroes. Rewards: Rosary beads, 2000xp - Greg the gardener requires stink berries before he will join you at Cassidy. You can find stink berries on the road to Bersterd up the left handside of the mountain. Rewards: 2000xp - Sui Wonton is outside the Cave of Tremors and wants some boots left in the cave by his brother Sal. The boots are in a chest partially hidden by a stalagmite in the top left corner of the first area. Janette has to be in the battle party with level 1 sharp eye. Reward: Sui joins. ---City of Heroes--- - Toymota on the wharf has lost the key to his chest and needs someone to unlock it. Joey can unlock it with level 6 lock pick skills. Rewards: Key to Toymota's chest at City of Crooks, 2000xp - Murray, at the inn wants a Terrordactyl head to prove he is a hero. You can kill Terrordactyls on the road to Bersterd and there is a 20% chance you will get an intact head. Rewards: Boost Bandana, 2000xp. - Molly up by the church wants mushrooms. You can find a mushroom in the middle path heading up the road to Bersterd. Rewards: Milk, 1000xp. - Claude in the academy wants you to bring him back a Fiend head to prove yourself. The feind is the boss in the third area of the Graven Ruins near the well. Defeat it to get it's head. Rewards: Strong suit, 3000xp - Don Kee requires you to kill 25 ghouls. Simply kill ghouls in the Graven ruins. Reward: Don Kee joins. ############################################################ ## 3 - TRAINING ## ############################################################ ================= 3.1 - The Academy ================= Some towns have an academy where your hero can develop new skills and upgrade old ones. Academy points are needed to buy new skills and can only be gained by killing monsters. However killing monsters will only get you Academy points for so long. Once you have become too strong, the weaker monsters are no longer worthy of your time and Academy points will no longer be awarded. There are several trainers in the academy - Trainer 1: Teaches you the "sneak" skill which allows you to sneak up behind an unsuspecting monster and kill it from behind. The higher the level you reach, the more successful you will be in a sneak attack. It only works on monsters that are standing still. The sneak skill also allows you to sneak past humans too. There are ten levels of sneak. If you get to level ten you will be given a reward: Armour of the Gods - Trainer 2: Teaches you to walk faster. There are 2 additional levels of speed you can reach. - Trainer 3: Can teach you attack skills for battle. Once you have learned all the skills available he will teacher you Slash of the Damned. - Trainer 4: Reach level 30 and Rok can be promoted to a Paladin. This will open up more advanced skills and weapons he can use. You can only be promoted once. ================ 3.2 - Cathedrals ================ Some towns have a cathedral where your healer can develop new skills and upgrade old ones. Faith points are needed to buy new skills and can only be gained by killing monsters. However killing monsters will only get you Faith points for so long. Once you have become too strong, the weaker monsters are no longer worthy of your time and Faith points will no longer be awarded. There are several trainers in the cathedral: - Vicar: Can teach standard healing skills. Once you have learnt all you can be taught you will be given a special skill: Bamboozle. - Faith teacher: Can teach you faith which can help you move items. Once you get to level 10 you will be given a miracle robe. - Teacher 3: Reach level 30 and Angel can be promoted to a Faith healer. This will open up more advanced skills and weapons she can use. She can only be promoted once. - Teacher 4: Can teach special attacks to use in battles. ============== 3.3 - Hogwarts ============== Some towns have a Hogwart's school of magic where your magician can develop new skills and upgrade old ones. Hogwarts points are needed to buy new skills and can only be gained by killing monsters. However killing monsters will only get you Hogwart points for so long. Once you have become too strong, the weaker monsters are no longer worthy of your time and Hogwarts points will no longer be awarded. There are several trainers in the school: - Trainer 1: Can teach spells that attack all enemies. - Trainer 2: Can teach spells that attack single enemies. - Trainer 3: Reach level 30 and Cliff can be promoted to a Wizard. This will open up more advanced skills and weapons he can use. He can only be promoted once. - Dementia (Blithering Heights): Once you have set up your base in Cassidy, Dementia will be there and can be recruited. She is a clairvoyant who can help you track down Samuninja warriors. - Gandorf (City of Crooks) Can be recruited once you have learnt Roast magic, to set up a Hogwarts in Cassidy. ============ 3.4 - Arenas ============ Some towns have a Arenas where you can fight battles with monsters and gain experience and GP. Your warrior, Rex can develop new skills and upgrade old ones. Gladiator points are needed to buy new skills and can only be gained by killing monsters. However killing monsters will only get you Gladiator points for so long. Once you have become too strong, the weaker monsters are no longer worthy of your time and points will no longer be awarded. There are several trainers in the school: - Trainer 1: Can teach smash skill. Get to level 10 smash and you will be awarded Titan Armour. - Trainer 2: Can teach skills to use in battle. Learn them all and gain Titan Shield. - Trainer 3: Reach level 30 and Rex can be promoted to a Gladiator. This will open up more advanced skills and weapons he can use. He can only be promoted once. - Trainer 4: If you spend 600 Gladiator points he will give you the Titan Axe. - Trainer 5: Battle monsters to gain experience and GP. ==================== 3.5 - Archer's Guild ==================== Some towns have an Archer's guild where Janette can develop new skills and upgrade old ones. Archer points are needed to buy new skills and can only be gained by killing monsters. However killing monsters will only get you points for so long. Once you have become too strong, the weaker monsters are no longer worthy of your time and Archer points will no longer be awarded. There are several trainers in the school: - Trainer 1: Can teach Sharp Eye. This helps you see things you would not see otherwise. Get to level 10 and you will be awarded an Ultimate Suit. - Trainer 2 & 3: Can teach skills to use in battle. Once you have learned all the skills you will get to learn Major Assault. - Trainer 4: Reach level 30 and Janette can be promoted to a Bowmaster. This will open up more advanced skills and weapons she can use. She can only be promoted once. - Trainer 5: Gives you the target challenge. Find all 5 targets and you will be rewarded with the Bow of Sir Robin =================== 3.6 - Mongrel Power =================== Some towns have a Mongrel Power headquarters where Joey can develop new skills and upgrade old ones. Ninja points are needed to buy new skills and can only be gained by killing monsters. However killing monsters will only get you points for so long. Once you have become too strong, the weaker monsters are no longer worthy of your time and Ninja points will no longer be awarded. There are several trainers in the school: - Trainer 1: Can teach Lock picking skills. - Trainer 2: Can teach skills to use in battle. Once you have learnt them all you will get the special skill of Hell. - Trainer 3: Reach level 30 and Joey can be promoted to a Ninja. This will open up more advanced skills and weapons she can use. He can only be promoted once. There are ten chests that can be opened, one for each additional level of lock picking you acheive Rewards: 1) Dexterity Seed 2) 1000GP 3) Healing Spray 4) Movement Ring 5) Accuracy Gear 6) Great sword 7) Doom Blade 8) Blessed Bandana 9) Mitheral Gear 10) Master Claws ######################################################## ## 4 - RECRUITS ## ######################################################## Recruits are NPCs which are needed to perform various jobs at your base in Cassidy. They also add to your forces if the base is invaded. So the more recruits you have, the easier it is to defend Cassidy. ie. you will have to fight more battles in a row when an invasion occurs. ============= 4.1 - Workers ============= - Brad - Arena trainer. Can be found in the Deadweird morgue. - Chef - You can find him in the Drunken Sod Hotel at Boozetown, after you've set up your base in Cassidy. - Claude - Academy trainer. Can be found at the academy in the City of Heroes as long as you have been promoted. He will only join you if you bring back the head of the fiend that lives in the Graven ruins to the east of the City of Heroes. - Dementia - Clarivoyant - Once you have set up your base in Cassidy, Dementia will be in the Blithering Heights Hogwarts school. She can help you track down all the Samuninja warriors. She will set up her base in a building in the port area of Cassidy. - Gandorf - Hogwarts teacher. Found in the City of Crooks Hogwarts school. You must have Roast magic learnt before he will join you. Once recruited he will set up a Hogwarts school in Cassidy. - Greg - Gardener. He's the gardener at Deidweird and requires stink berries before he will join you. You can find stink berries on the road to Bersterd. Once recruited, he will be there to plant your seeds and tend your crops at the farm in Cassidy. - Leonard - Armour trader - Recruiting Leonard will open up the armour shop to you. He can be recruited at the top level of Bersterd Prison after Sidious helps you escape the cell you are imprisoned in. - Maisey - Farmer - Can be found at the Gloomsville Inn after you have established your base at Cassidy. She comes with three chickens. - Mike - Bartender of the Evildrome Boozerama in Boozetown. Pass his drinking test and he will become your bartender at the restaurant in Cassidy. Janette has to have been recruited first before he will issue you the drinking test. You get to choose who will do the test. Rex will pass the test. Angel can pass it if she has a faith level of 3 or more. - Renko - Ninja training. Renko and his friends will be at the Cassidy port after Sidious joins your cause. They will set up their base at the Mongrel Power headquarters. - Sebastian - Item trader. Can be found in the locked room in the fancy house in Snobsville. Will join after the the base is set in Cassidy. You need Joey to pick the lock to get into the room where he is. - Tessa - Archery expert - Have Janette shoot her target in Gloomsville and she will join and set up an Archer's guild at Cassidy. Janette will need Sharp Eye level 5 to shoot this target. - Wandering Trader - Weapon trader - will open up the weapons shop. He can be recruited from the weapons shop at City of Heroes. - Church workers - Once Janette has joined the team you can go to the Gloomsville Cathedral and talk to the vicar. He will arrange from some men to work in the Cassidy cathedral. ======================== 4.2 - Samuninja warriors ======================== Captain Marconi at Cassidy gives you a mission to find all 24 Samuninja warriors and recruit them. They are spread out around the world. Some in unusual places. They add to your forces when it comes to defending against invaders. - Chik Shett: Is at the City of Crooks just up from Haw Shett, standing behind one of the rock pillars. He wants a power seed before he will join you. You can buy one from the guy guarding the treasure chest in the inn. - Ching Chong: Can be found in the Item shop at City of Heroes. - Chu Chu: Can be found on the road to Bersterd, up the mountain, over the bridge. He is standing behind the tree there. - Dim Sim: In the ship house at Blithering Heights. Can be found there after you set up your base in Cassidy. - Don Kee - In the second area of the Graven Ruins. You need to kill 25 ghouls and he will join you. - Eg Fu Yung - Is locked in a cell at the top level of Bersterd Prison. Joey needs lock picking 4 to unlock his cell. - Garbanki - Will be at the teleport connection area after the invasion of the imperials at Cassidy. - Hari Kari: In the smash house in Boozetown. 2nd room. He will appear there after the base is established in Cassidy. - Haws Shet: Is standing behind the inn at the City of Crooks. Janette needs Level 7 sharp eye to see him. - Hee Ya: Is in the underground tunnel under Don's house at City of Heroes. - Nunchuck: At the entrance to Gloomsville Forest. Will join once you set up your base in Cassidy. - Sal Wonton: is upstairs at the City of Heroes inn. Will only join if his sister Sui has joined. - Sess Emie: Is up on the Frigid Mountains and requires the password "Shawn of the Dead" before he will join you. - Shitsue: You can find her outside the Tower of Trials, but only once the base in Cassidy has been established. - Sueshi: Can be found at the beach just outside Snobsville after the base is set in Cassidy - Sui Wonton. Is outside of the Cave of Tremors east of Deadweird. She will not join until you find her brother's boots. They are in a chest partially hidden by a stalagmite in the top left corner of the first area. Janette has to be in the battle party with level 1 sharp eye. - Suki Yaki. In the Monstroville Caves in the pit of mimics. She guards a treasure chest. If you can sneak past her (level 7 sneak) she will join you. - Supuku: Outside the inn at Boozetown. He will only join if Rok has been promoted. - Teriyucki: Just inside the Cave of Tremors to the left. Rex needs to smash the stalamites, but must have level 5 smash skills to get through. - Toefu - After the base is set in Cassidy you can find him up the back left side of the grounds of the Gloomsville Cahtedral. - Toymota: Can be found on the wharf at the City of Heroes. He has lost the key to his chest. Joey can unlock it with level 6 lock pick skills. - Wino: Once your base is set up in Cassidy he will join if you buy him a pan galactic gargle blaster (500GP) He is in the Evil Drome Boozerama at Boozetown. - Yama Moto: He will turn up at the port at Cassidy once you have entered the City of Heroes. However he will not join until you have recruited Suki Yaki. - Yuckimoto: In the hold of the ship. Will not appear there until you leave for the City of Heroes. ############################################# ## 5 - FARMING ## ############################################# You can farm vegetables and animals at Cassidy ============= 5.1 - ANIMALS ============= Animals can be collected for your farm in Cassidy. However only chickens can be collected before your base in Cassidy is established. Chickens provide eggs. Cows provide milk. Sheep provide wool. If you want to farm animals for meat, you will need two of each kind of animal. Beef, Chicken, Pork. The produce collected from these animals can be used at the restaurant by the chef (if you have recruited one) to produce special items. Where to find them: ---Chickens--- - in the pit of Roosterrors in the Snobsville sewers. Can be collected any time. - 3 chickens at the Gloomsville Inn owned by Maisey. You can meet her after the base is established at Cassidy. - in the Sneak house at the City of Crooks. ---Cows--- - in the Faith house at Blithering Heights with Angel's faith at level 4. Janette must join your team first before it will appear there. - just outside the entrance to Blithering Heights near the sword cave. You must have your base set up in Cassidy first before you can collect it. - In the item shop at Monstro City. ---Sheep--- - In the ruins of Graven. At the well where you battle the feind there is an open treasure chest. It is a teleporter and will take you to a sheep. This is the only sheep available to find for your farm. ---Pigs--- - one can be found at the City of Heroes in the Test centre. - one can be found out the front of Bersterd Prison. But you have to get there from inside the prison. Level 3. ---Cats--- There are two cats you can get who will deal with any potential rat problems on your farm. They can be picked up after the base is set in Cassidy. - from your house in Gloomsville - from Cliff's house in Snobsville. =========== 5.2 - SEEDS =========== Once you have your gardner recruited you can give him seeds and he will plant them and grow crops. Where to find them: ---corn--- In a first chest you come to in the Monstroville Caves. ---pumpkin--- In a treasure chest in the Tower of Trials on the third level. ---potato--- In the hold of the ship when sailing to Deadweird for the first time. ---carrot--- In the Sharp Eye house in Deadweird. 2nd Room ---Cabbage--- In the locked room in Don's house at the City of Heroes. There will be an opportunity later in the game to import one type of seed to Cassidy: Carrots, Cabbages, Potatos or Corn ############################################################### ## 6 - TARGET LOCATIONS ## ############################################################### There are 5 targets to be found, but only after Janette has joined your cause. These can only be fired at by Janette and she must be in your battle party to do it. Some are harder than others to hit, so she will need higher levels of her aiming skill. 1) In the Sharp Eye house in Deadweird. Third room. Stand in front of it and press enter. Need Sharp Eye level 7 to get to it. 2) In the ruins of Graven in the first area. At the far west bottom corner is a ruined house and a teleporter. Janette must be in the battle party for you to see it and must have level 3 sharp eye. This teleporter takes you to the upper part of the map to a target on the wall. Step up to the target and press enter to shoot it. 3) At the back of in Monstro City. 4) In Gloomsville in the town area. Stand between the two trees and press enter. Requires Level 5 Sharp Eye. 5) On the wall at Cassidy at the entrance to the port area. Janette must have level 10 sharp eye. ############################################################# ## 7 - SPECIAL ITEMS ## ############################################################# ---Notebook--- You always have this on you. You can check to see how many of each type of skill points you currently have. It also keeps track of ghouls killed in the ruins of Graven when you come to do that sidequest. ---Quest book--- You will always have this on you. You can check what side quests you still have to complete. Sidequests do not need to be completed to advance in the game. The quest book does not show main story line quests or ongoing quests such as finding funguy tooths to sell in Gloomsville. ---Seeds--- These can be planted in your garden when you take control of the city of Cassidy. As long as you have a gardener. You can then harvest the crops to use to create special food items if you have a chef at the restaurant in Cassidy. ---Animals--- These can be collected for your base in Cassidy. Larger animals can't be collected until after you've established your base. They provide produce which you can use to create special items if you have a chef recruited for your restaurant. ---Orbs--- There are 5 orbs to be found and are needed to open the chest in the sword cave on the coast near Blithering Heights. 1) Sapphire Orb. Can be obtained from a chest in the smash house in Boozetown. Rex needs level 7 smash skills to get to the final room where the chest is. 2) Emerald Orb - Can be found in the City of Crooks. There is a guy at the bottom east corner of town who has a treasure chest. He will sell you what's in it for 4000GP. It is the emerald orb 3) Ametheist orb - In the third room in the house in Gloomsville at the right side of town. You need Level 3 walk speed to get to that room. 4) Gold Orb. Can be obtained by passing all the tests in the test centre at City of Heroes. 5) Ruby Orb. Can be found in the Monstroville Caves in the pit of mimics gaurded by Suki Yaki. You have to sneak past her to get to the chest with it in. Level 7 sneak. ---Vicar's Items--- You need these 5 items to be given the Staff of Aaron at the Cassidy Cathedral. 1) Crucifix. Can be stolen from Martha's chest in Snobsville if Rok has level 5 sneak skills. 2) Hymn Book. Can be found in a chest in the faith house at Blithering Heights. The 3rd door can be opened by Angel with Level 6 faith. 3) Holy Water. Finish Lizzie's lost baby quest and get it as a reward. 4) Rosary Beads. Find weed killer for Deadrick at the tree in Deadweird and you will get these as a reward. Can buy weedkiller at the City of Heroes item shop. 5) Mitre. Get to the end of the sneak house in the City of Crooks and it will be in the final treasure chest. ---Ultimate weapons/armour--- - Armour of the Gods. Given to you at the academy if you get to level 10 sneak. - Miracle Robe. Given to Angel at the cathedral once she reaches level 10 faith. - Titan Armour. Given to Rex at the arena once he reaches level 10 smash. - Titan Axe. Spend 600 or more Gladiator points at the arena and recieve it from one of the trainers. - Titan Shield. Learn all skills at teh arena and gain this. - Ultimate suit. Given to Janette at the Archer's guild once she reaches Sharp eye, level 10. - Ultimate Gear. From Captain Marconi at Cassidy once you recruit all 24 Samuninja. - Master Claws. From the tenth chest in the Mongrel Power Headquarters. Needs Lock picking skills of 10. - Mercy Killer. In the sword cave just on the coast just outside Blithering Heights. You need to collect all 5 orbs to be able to unlock the chest. - Bow of Sir Robin. Shoot all 5 targets and get this from the trainer in the Archer's Guild. - Staff of Aaron. If you collect all 5 special items for the vicar in the Cassidy Cathedral (once he is recruited) you will be awarded the staff. - Staff of Merln. If you wizard learns all the magics, then they will be awarded this by one of the teachers. ################################################################## ## 8 - CASSIDY - YOUR BASE ## ################################################################## Cassidy is made up of 5 main areas: ============= Main township ============= ---Item shop--- You can recruit Sebastian from the Snobsville house. He is in a locked room there. Once you have him he will open up this item shop. This shop will always have the best available stuff and new things will be imported from towns you visit. ---Weapon/armour shop--- - Recruiting Leonard will open up the armour shop to you. He can be recruited at the top level of Bersterd Prison after Sidious helps you escape your cell you are imprisoned in. - Wandering trader will open up the weapons shop. He can be recruited from the weapons shop at City of Heroes. - These shops will always have the best available stuff and new things will be imported from towns you visit. ---Hogwarts--- Once Gandorf is recruited from the City of Crooks Hogwarts, he will open up this school There is an additional trainer here who will give you the Staff of Merlin if you learn all magic abilities. ---Inn--- This will become populated with workers as the game progresses. You will be able to stay at the inn for free. ---Mongrel Power--- You can recruit some guys to man this building after Sidious has joined you. As long as you have Joey in the battle party they will join you. They will be up at the top of the port in Cassidy. ---Academy--- Claude will open up an academy and bring trainers with him. He can be found at the academy in the City of Heroes as long as you have been promoted. He will only join you if you bring back the head of the fiend that lives in the Graven ruins to the east of the City of Heroes. ==== Farm ==== - This is where you can grow crops and farm animals - If you have recruited Greg, he will be there to tend your crops. He can be found gardening in Deadweird - When at the farm, bring seeds to him and he will plant them. In no time at all you will have those plants growing. - If you have recruited Maisey there will be a farm girl outside. Bring her any chickens you find. - Inside the farm building, if you have recruited Maisey she will be there preparing stock items from your farm. You will have to pay for them though! She can be recruited at the Gloomsville Inn after setting up your base. ==== Port ==== - Once you have recruited Sidious, you will find members of Mongrel Power up near the top of the port who will join you. They will then set up a base in the town. - Yama Moto of the Samuninja, will turn up in the port at Cassidy once you have entered the City of Heroes. However he will not join until you have recruited Suki Yaki. ---Arena--- Recruit Brad. He can be found in the Deadweird morgue. He will bring a team of trainers with him. ---Town hall--- At various points you will have the opportunity to arrange certain acts to perform here. Depending on how popular the acts are will depend on how much money you make out of it. Check regularly with the guard who will be standing next to the donations box in the front right of the stage. ---Restaurant--- - Mike the bartender, can be recruited from the Evildrome Boozerama in Boozetown if you passed his drinking tests. - In the kitchen you can exchange food items from the farm for special items. - The chef (if he has been recruited) will cook up special items for you. All you need to do is give him the items that the recipe requires (on the benches) and he will cook them up immediately. The chef can be found in the Drunken Sod Hotel at Boozetown, after you've set up your base in Cassidy. ---Clairvoyant--- Dementia will be in the Blithering Heights Hogwarts school. She can help you track down all possible recuits. She will set up her base in this building. =========== Castle area =========== ---Castle--- - The main place where the city is governed and where your army will be based. - The castle contains mainly accomodation for the armies. There is also a prison and a meeting room to discuss strategies and make governing dicisions. - You will also find a training area where the Samuninja will congregate when you recruit them. Captain Marconi will be there once the base is established and give you the task of rounding up the Samuninja. If you round up all 24 members, Marconi wil award you with Ultimate Gear. ---Archer's Guild--- - Once you recruit Tessa in Gloomsville, she will set up the guild here. ========= Cathedral ========= A team of ministers can be recruited by talking to the vicar at the Gloomsville Cathedral, but only after Janette has joined the team. The bishop will give you a quest to find 5 special items. Collect them and you will receive the Staff of Aaron Items needed: 1) Crucifix. 2) Hymn Book 3) Holy Water 4) Rosary Beads 5) Mitre
