Description

Are you ready for the excitement of the 2014 Indie Game Development Contest? Make your dream game during the month of June for a chance to win huge cash prizes (up to $10,000), widespread acclaim, and possibly a review by one of our celebrity judges. Now is your chance to grab the spotlight and become a renowned indie developer!

Sign up for the official contest here
http://contest.rpgmakerweb.com

This is the RMN event page for RPG Maker Web's big contest
RMN is not hosting this event. This is a place for RMN members to congregate and showcase their game submissions for this massive event.

June is going to be a massive month for us. Not only is RPG Maker being featured in a Humble Bundle, but June is also National Game Development Month. To celebrate, we here at RPG Maker, in partnership with Humble Bundle, are holding an Indie Game Maker Contest for the entire month!

Here's the best part: there's no restriction on genre or engine! Games will be separated into two categories (RPG and non-RPG) and judged for their presentation, gameplay, and fun factor. Feel free to use any engine you want and make any kind of game you desire (as long as you follow the rules, of course). The games must be complete, though, so be sure to budget your time carefully! We do recommend keeping the play time to under one hour, as the judges will typically stop playing at that point.

This is your chance to have a blast and create that short, creative game you always dreamed of and win a huge prize! If you're an aspiring commercial indie developer, this could be a golden opportunity to put your name on the map!

Contest Timeline

Would it be possible to edit my entry into this contest? It's okay if you can't, I just hate missing out on that sweet, sweet participation Makerscore.
did anyone get a thing on their dashboard saying their game did not make the deadline...? even though clearly the game is already up there.

i think im just confused by the wording.

edit: ok im just gonna assume you just cant edit the game anymore.

You mean the dashboard on the contest site? Yeah, I got that too. It said the game didn't make the deadline, but I clearly see the game on the site.

You just can't edit anything now that the deadline has passed, but the game is up there.

My question is, does the "remember me" checkbox actually remember anyone? It does not work for me.

That makes the checkbox sound like an amnesiac, ay.
But nope, it doesn't remember me either, which is pretty annoying.

Congrats to everyone who made their game! We can all have a big crying party for all of the postproduction bugs we find, yay. I'll start.

:'(

But in seriousness, good luck to all.

I know I never edit posts, but I'm going to do it to this one. I'm just going to edit this as I play through the games. I might not even have finished the games so I'm going to rate just based on my experience.

This is my honest ratings of each game out of 5.

No Manatees Promised **1/2
Painted Heart ***

My game's probably a *1/2 or lower. I just like rating with honest standards. I also like offending people sometimes. I'm in a bad mood.

It's not a terrible game. lol. The art and music are amazing. I should probably write reviews but I'm too lazy.
I also sent an entry, http://rpgmaker.net/games/6527/
Good luck everyone.

Edit: Whoops, sorry about that. Thanks for the heads up, CashmereCat!

Nah man don't worry, I respect the honesty!

Yeah, I also should make reviews of the contest games I've played... Maybe after a few days. We all deserve a little break after this, I think.
The submission list for the actual contest is ridiculous. I wish there was a way to filter out the serious from the joke entries, short of the submissions here I'm not sure where to start.

I have played a couple so far (World Remade and Painted) - both very good. Painted's combat system has a lot of potential but really needs to be scripted, can totally see why the limitations are in place considering the short deadline though.

World Remade gets more interesting as you play, I wish they'd had more time to expand on more of the ideas, since now I'm curious and I know it'll be a while before there's more to play!

Edit: Wow, that list is pretty long and I'm exhausted from a month long rush, will take a while to get through these...

Yeah actually I changed my rating for Painted it's pretty good.

Aesthetics were fantastic. The transition scene, art, and the vocalized music are amazing. The gameplay is a bit shallow and the combat sounded cool but didn't require any strategy because there wasn't the mechanics to support the depth of the ideas. Hopefully they'll pick the idea back up and go further and polish the writing and combat. I was surprised by how well the simple movement limitations worked, at first I expected that to be really boring but it felt pretty interesting.

Edit: Oops, that's the closest I've ever come to reviewing something I think, I need to be more careful.

You can try browsing the RPGMaker Web forum as there are some cool games there that aren't on RMN. Little Briar Rose, for instance, looks gorgeous.

For those looking for the sweet, sweet makerscore or to get their game onto the list and not lost in a post I extended the submission deadline by 12 hours. To be clear this has no effect on the official contest at contest.rpgmakerweb.com and all that, this is just for getting your game on RMN's event page. Extending events and dealing with double posts only on RMN are my only official duties etc. etc. blah blah.
Actually, I checked and I don't think so! Maybe we'll do some posthumous achievements or voting or something, this was kinda thrown together a week into the event just so we'd have it so if people wanted to talk about it on RMN they could do it here.
i love you red
