Description

Are you ready for the excitement of the 2014 Indie Game Development Contest? Make your dream game during the month of June for a chance to win huge cash prizes (up to $10,000), widespread acclaim, and possibly a review by one of our celebrity judges. Now is your chance to grab the spotlight and become a renowned indie developer!

Sign up for the official contest here

This is the RMN event page for RPG Maker Web's big contest
RMN is not hosting this event. This is a place for RMN members to congregate and showcase their game submissions for this massive event.

June is going to be a massive month for us. Not only is RPG Maker being featured in a Humble Bundle, but June is also National Game Development Month. To celebrate, we here at RPG Maker, in partnership with Humble Bundle, are holding an Indie Game Maker Contest for the entire month!

Here's the best part: there's no restriction on genre or engine! Games will be separated into two categories (RPG and non-RPG) and judged for their presentation, gameplay, and fun factor. Feel free to use any engine you want and make any kind of game you desire (as long as you follow the rules, of course). The games must be complete, though, so be sure to budget your time carefully! We do recommend keeping the play time to under one hour, as the judges will typically stop playing at that point.

This is your chance to have a blast and create that short, creative game you always dreamed of and win a huge prize! If you're an aspiring commercial indie developer, this could be a golden opportunity to put your name on the map!

Contest Timeline
May 29 - June 30, 2014 – Game Development period. Create an awesome gaming experience!

Late July/Early August – We will hold a podcast in which we talk about the contest, the winners, and more!

so... Slash and Raze has so far missed the extended deadline for submitting their games to RMN's event page? Anyone else? I just gave out the participation achievements.

I will check the submission queue again right now, and extend the deadline here for another 8 hours or so.

...I really got to implement a "Allow late submissions?" checkbox for events...

EDIT:
Remember! this event has nothing to do with the official event and it's submission deadline (which has already passed). this is just for RMN's event page and the associated achievement.
So uhhh, I just had a worrying thought. My submission on the IGMC site links to my RMN page specifically. I put in the description of the RMN game profile that my entry is version 1.4 and anything later is not for the contest. I'm worried still though, this is acceptable right?

Sir Redd of Novus: He who made Prayer of the Faithless that one time, and that was pretty dang rad! :D

I think it's about finding the right team to work with, too ^_^ People who are open-minded, can compromise, but still are passionate about making the best game that they can. Of course, the drive to get everything done is essential, too.

Thanks for being awesome like that, Red! ^_^

Well... I wasn't going to give myself that kind of pat on the back, but, um...

*adjusts medal*

Heh heh...

Edit: Sorry Red_Nova.

It's all good, man. I knew what you were talking about. Sarcasm can be SOOOOOO HAAAAARD to convey over the internet sometimes.
How do I submit my game into the RMN event not the offical Indie contest ? I cant seem to understand how ?
Never mind I just found it xD *slaps his head* :P
Is anyone else creating a contest folder and just filling it with games to play? Currently I just have In Arcem Miseria, Painted Heart and Sunken Spire (which is oddly not listed here?). I played the first 20 minutes of each and they're all hot shit.
I've just been going through all the entries on the official contest list and bookmarking any that look worth a try. Haven't actually played 'em yet, except a bit of Les Visiteurs Dans L'Espace when it was released.

Yep--right on my desktop. So far I have Painted Heart, Remnants of Isolation, Unraveled, Sunken Spire, and World Remade. Of those, I've played the first three. If you really want to feel depressed about your chances of winning, play Unraveled. It's more of an exploration game than an rpg, but the battle system is pretty engaging and while the story is probably the most melodramatic thing I've ever seen, it's told really, really well, and it's stripped back enough that the melodrama might get overlooked. The art and music give Painted Heart a run for its money, which is kind of insane.

World Remade's next on my list, bub.

Mr. Kentona, you're my hero :)

I haven't had a chance to look at the games yet because of work, but what's the ratio of RPGs to Non-RPGs?
So I added CreativeMinds, slash, and Raze to the list of achievers for this event.

If I missed anyone, please let me know! thanks.
gee i hope carrionblue makes it..
Who else is playing through these? I started Tirawrmisu, which is a pretty charming baking sim, but had a bad tendency to hang, especially when haggling with the customers (at least on my computer). Just downloaded BlackBird; we'll see what I think of that game.
Yeah, like I said earlier, I'm going down the list. I'm working through Sunken Spire right now, but it's pretty lengthy for a contest entry.
i kind of dont want to look at anything rpgmaker engine related anymore but ill get around to playing some of them.

Shout-out for Les Vis oooh yeah o/

I've played a few so far: Painted Heart, No Manatees Promised, Tirawrmisu, Mirror Boy (personal favourite) and one more I can't remember the name of. Definitely a lot of interesting ideas - I'm impressed.

Today I'm gonna head on over to the contest submissions portal and look for hidden gems, which I'm sure there are a lot of.

Ah great! I've been looking for a list of actually good games, after sifting through pages of, er, more naive stuff. Top votes unfortunately do not reflect that so well.

IMHO Little Briar Rose is completely underexposed. Not an RPG and gameplay isn't much, but it's easily the most beautiful game of the contest. I'll be glad to lose to them.

Entity is a quite nice little game as well (+ plays in browser).

I'm gonna try and go through games tonight, and if not then then the weekend for sure. If I can I'll do some mini-reviews for them too :)

I'm totally looking for feedback on Mirror Boy, so if you happen to play it, don't be shy!
So I was reading the contest site and it said RMN was gonna have a review drive post-contest? Any details on that?
