Description

It's RPG Maker's birthday and you're invited to join in the celebration! But how to celebrate?

!!

Well, by showing off what we've made using the engine of course! Hey guys, it's been a while since we had a Release Something, hasn't it? ;p

The aim of this event is to release something - whether it be a game (complete or demo), trailer, fan-media, reviews, resources or blog posts! As long as whatever you release has had work on it or was created during the timeframe of the event, it'll count!

◆ Release either a new demo, completed game, trailer, fan-media, review, resource or significant update (like a blog post or series of screenshots or wips, etc) for your own/someone else's game before the end of the event!

◆ All personal releases must have had significant progress made during the event timeline and/or not have been released before (in the case of media, resources, blogs)

◆ The event starts on 16th of February, 2021 GMT.
◆ The event ends on 16th of March, 2021 GMT.

As this is the birthday of RPG Maker, games must be made in or for an RPG Maker engine.

You can release as many pieces as you want, but we highly encourage quality over quantity!

◆ Participation Prize: All participants will receive a cute badge for participating worth 50MS.

◆ Category Prizes: For each category (fan/media, game/demo, resource, update), there will be a winner based on a lottery who will win a to-be-announced prize!

◆ To join, just sign up below!
◆ To submit a game, use a gamepage download!
◆ To add fanmedia, use the event locker.
For blogposts, reviews and anything that won't inherently upload, a text file with links will suffice, if the locker doesn't work.

Have fun and Happy Game Making!

Thanks liberty, I appreciate it.

(On my end at least it looks like it still hasn't been approved, so I don't think I can add a download here on RMN while it's in this limbo state? anyway here's a temporary link to the DL on itch while I wait for it to be hosted here on RMN)
Here is the updated URL for my submission:

Thank you so much for clarifying and for letting my entry stay in the contest! So grateful and relieved!

Cheers,
Kiyasu
If the game is not released on RMN it doesn't count??? We've said that before, iirc. Also, it's a review. For a game not on the site.

I will allow it this one time but in the future, please ask for more clarification about stuff like this because the events here tend to be site-centric. For example, any review events we have will only apply to games on the site itself. Put the review up on your own blog or something and link it here.

@Gentleman, link your stuff here. The timing of it was right - double checked it just now - so it'll count.

I went through the queue yesterday before the event ended. If something wasn't accepted then, it won't count for the event unless you can make a good case for it.
Hey Liberty, what if the game is not released on RMN? It's for an RPG Maker game released elsewhere except rpgmaker.net, so there is no game page! I also think my game review counts as an "article" due to the way it is written -- like a mix of both game review and article at the same time, hence why I submitted as an article.

I should get the sharing is caring badge. My case: I want it.
I sub'd my thing on the 13th and I thought I got it in in time--in the first few hours of the 15th at around 3:30am EST if I'm understanding the time stamp correctly--I corrected the reason why it was rejected. I resisted the urge to pester staff both between the 13th and the 15th and between the early hours of the 15th and now because I didn't want to be a pain.

It's no big deal I guess, just makes me kind of a sad panda that I participated but didn't "Participate" on paper. : (

Welp. There it is, then.

The sharing is caring badge was for a mini-event within the event and only those who took part at the time will get that badge.

The 50MS badge for taking part in this event will be handed out within the next day or so - I'll be seeing what was added to this page as well as the comments to make sure I don't miss anyone. >.<)b

Liberty made a small post here concerning the Sharing is Caring achievement. It was given out to users who posted "a screenshot, a music sample, a sample of a review, etc" between February 22 and February 26th.

*Edit: There should be a separate achievement for participation worth 50 MS to be distributed later, as well as category prizes, as outlined in the section labeled "The Prizes".
It seems like it's manually given, considering the last update was on Feb 25th. Probably easiest for Liberty to wait for people to hand in their submissions and then give out the rewards all at once.

Submissions that are in a "pending" state would not be accessible to the public until they get accepted. I'm not 100% sure if Liberty would count such submission for this event? I kinda hope she does!
Even if she doesn't count them, there's still 18 entries submitted, plus however many that are buried in the comments!

I would think she does because the time stamp of the Pending entries remain the same as the submitted date and not the approved date. So, as long as the entries and/or entry submission comments posted here has a time stamp before the deadline, then it should be all right. ^^

Does anyone know whether the Sharing is Caring Achievement applies to everyone who submitted an entry before the deadline? There are only ten people who are rewarded it, and I was wondering whether that is a mistake, especially because there are already eighteen entrants with "properly submitted" entries in the system. Liberty might have to manually give out the Sharing is Caring Achievement to everyone else, including the people who submitted only via the comments here, due to the bug in the submission system.

Best of luck to everyone who entered!

Kind regards,
Kiyasu

HERE IS MY SUBMISSION (full game) for the contest!

https://rpgmaker.net/games/11983/
(However, it is Pending status and I don't know whether others can see it!)

The game download contains the full game but a later update will include trohpies and challenges as it was originally intended, for the sake of this event. This major project was released 1 month early. Enjoy ^^.

Mealade, sorry, but only games worked on during the event count, So sorry but you'll have to remove your post. Sorry, just following the rules.
The way I understood Marmalade's post was that they worked on the game through the month, so it includes while the event was going on. But even if that doesn't count, they said they're working on some updates for it so hey, it still counts? There are four hours left (at least over here) and that's enough time to fix stuff.

Yup! I started work on the game from early February to exactly the moment I made the post (which was a few hours ago). I don't think the timing is an issue, but if there's any other problem I can remove the submission. I hope it's all good though since I kinda rushed to finish the game to meet this deadline.

I don't know if it's still allowed or not, but I saw I could still join so I did!

I submitted an entry originally meant for Seasons of RMN IV, which I was working on with my friend (CrazyBabi, who submitted something else for this event). We managed to finish it (as best as we could) so I thought I might as well put it in.

We're going to be updating it later, so if anyone plays it please send us some feedback if you find any bugs or the like.
Happy birthday, RPG Maker!
