Description

~ LOOK! ~
"In anticipation of Super RMN World 2: Bro-shi's Island (or whatever it will be called), I'm taking it upon myself to issue a call to all potential SMBX devs! Even if you've never touched the engine, now's the time to give it a shot!"
It's like what Isrieri said, and I'm saying the same thing for this sequel to the Castles Masterpiece Set!

Time to give SMBX a shot and make a level!

~ Hey, Listen! ~

This is important, as it'll affect what your levels are!

All levels must be made as if a part of one continuous castle. The continuous castles themselves each have their own theme and hub, five in total.

  • Shroomland ForestThis area's castle has many plants, especially mushrooms, and many piranha plant enemies! The foundation of this castle is blue-green bricks.

  • GreyOcean Ravine
This area's castle has lots of water and grey-blue bricks.
Many fish enemies should be used, remember your level doesn't have to be completely submerged, just use water!

  • Redbrick Desert
This area's castle is basically dry, sandy with red-ish bricks for the foundation. Dry Bones (SMB3 Version/Resized SMW Version), cacti and various other Desert enemies should be here!

  • Sky Domain
This area's castle is A giant floating castle, include many clouds and grey to white bricks! (SMW Castle tiles would work fine here)
Enemies should consist of lakitus, parakoopas, bullet bills (Restrict the amount of homing koopas) and various other flying enemies.

  • Industrial Zone

This zone is to have aztec like bricks with many metal frameworks around it, this is because toadly is there, and he like steel.
Oh, and he also likes poison mushrooms, Mind-controlled toads and various spike traps, but that's just him.
Yes you must include those, if you want the graphics download them here:
http://rpgmaker.net/media/content/users/17331/locker/Industrial_Zone_enemies.zip

The first four areas listed are all avalible from the starting point, so you can do them in any order. Keep this in mind! This means that each continuous Castle needs to have easy and hard levels, not one or the other! If there are too many easy levels in a castle, we'll force the new additions to be harder, and vice-versa!

The exception to this rule is the fifth Overall Castle, the Industrial Zone. You should make your levels for this area more on the difficult end, as this area is only unlocked by completing the other four.

Fitting into the theme is not enough for the level to be accepted! Levels must have:

Be saved with THIS naming theme:
<dev>_<zone>_<level>_<diff>_<version>
Example:Ratty524_3_PursuitPalace_4_2

The Difficulty section is assumed to be out of 5, do not put 6 here (you might even want to refrain from making a 5 until the "Industrial Zone"

  • One checkpoint, and only one.
  • The game will only utilize Mario and Luigi as characters
  • All water must be swimmable. Waterfalls must not be.
  • An average castle should take no longer than 2 to 4 minutes to complete. (And no shorter than 1 minute)
  • The game wont be 2-player, so don't focus on it, but make sure it is at least possible for 2 players.
  • No secret stars.
  • At least two power ups, one at the start and one at the checkpoint.
  • Use invisible blocks wisely. No putting them over pits or other nonsense of that sort.
  • THE LEVEL MUST END IN ONE SMB3 STAR
  • THE LEVEL MUST CONTAIN 5 DRAGON COINS!
  • LEVELS CANNOT CONTAIN BOSSES-Mini bosses are okay, however. Just make sure that they are indeed mini!
  • LEVELS CANNOT HAVE: SMW Dry Bones (This is due to a height issue, if you fix this issue you may use them) SMW Bowser Statue. (This is again because of a height issue, if Mario st0od on top of the statue when it fired, Mario would get hurt.) Wall Zipping, this is when you have a 1-tile high hallway, super mario ducks and enters, and when you stand up you "Zip" through the wall. It's Extremely glitchy and can often break your level.

A participant can only submit up to 5 levels, 1 level for each Overall Castle.

~ WATCH OUT! ~
The story of this event is simple: You've received a letter from someone by the name of Mr. Zoad, an Archaeologist! He has asked you to explore a small but diverse island in search of an ancient relic. He warns you, however, that his competitors might be after the same thing.

You must explore the four ruined castles to find the whereabouts of this ancient relic, and be paid in big coins by Mr. Zoad!

I see that #1 there are very few stages and #2 most of them aren't accepted.
You guys may need to extend the end date for this, and I may need to get started on a level if you do.

Awsome thanks I'll work o that.
Master of Mayhem - Fallen Babel
* Right now the primary qualm I have is that exactly one of the Phantos is an enemy. It seems inconsistent, but I think that can be remedied by adding more enemy Phantos (or turning some of the current BG ones into enemies)
* I can reach the 1-up located near the checkpoint by jumping over the right wall, even with Mario. Also, the position of the P-switch is quite a bit after the block wall in front of the 1-up, which seems really unintuitive if that's the intended solution…
* There's a one-block gap at the spot with the Tanooki suit, which allows me to zip and consequently get stuck beneath the ground if I'm hit by an enemy before reaching the other side. You might want to look into that.
* Final verdict: DENIED. I actually don't mind the nonlinear feel, but there are some kinks to work out.

Changes made.

* The Phantos at the end was removed.
* The wall near the one up and the one near the Tanooki where fixed.
* Added in more coins to give a better seance of direction.
* Put in another P switch.
* The final are has been changed. You now climb to the top of come blocks to get the star.

Alright that should solve everything. I don't think they'll be any more problems eeevvver again.
isso seria ridiculo, so quero ver quem sabe fazer melhor do que eu, fazendo um rm2k3 dos cavaleiros do zodiaco, o melhor de todos alguem ja existiu >:o

Wait.
You actually had TROUBLE on the mouser fight?
Dude, he's a cakewalk on the first phase!
Maybe I should just make the second phase the first phase and be rid of the second.... that'll work.
I don't think it was difficulty with the fight so much as it being tedious; any attack from the player may or may not deal damage because it's blocked by something.

Oh, and you may want to add another deadline extension...

It is tedious and that actually makes him difficult. Because of the rate he throws bombs, in addition to having a good chance of blocking the bombs he throws at you with his own, the fight kind of becomes an endurance test, in which losing any kind of focus will result in your death.

Mario bosses aren't really meant to be elaborate to begin with. The game is focused primarily on platforming, with the bosses serving more or less as glorified obstacles. One phase is really all you need, especially for a standard boss that isn't end-game or anything.

Not a bad move, because I think Hali might come to crack down once he's done with Last King of Hyrule. So I guess there is hope for this?
So... As quite possibly my favourite SMBX level dev and the only person to so far prove he gives a shit, I decided to start with Ratty's Tired Towers

Ratty524 - Tired Towers

- The level is very aesthetically pleasing, especially with the tired cloud theme, but perhaps make those background clouds tired too?
- I don't think the music suits the level as well as it could, I think something a bit more quiet and peaceful would suit better
- However those are only suggestions, the only thing I really noticed in the level were the sides of the walls, They kinda have... What to call them... Chinks? When stacked on top of one-another
- Otherwise - brilliant level.

Ratty524 - Drainer Dungeon

- The only thing to mention are the crabs, first of all, they come out of those pipes in hordes, in comparison to the difficulty of the rest of the level, these guys are bitches, second, due to the pipe's size, you can see the crab before it comes out of the pipe, bigger pipe?
- Another aesthetically (love that word) brilliant level, I hope the other two can live up to their standards

Ratty524 - Bolete Bastille

- This level certainly lived up
- My only nitpick (and this is only a nitpick and you're free to ignore it) is that the leaf is probably a better power up, the fire flower makes the tight passages a cakewalk but are (next to) completely useless on the difficult vine jumping sections
- Otherwise, yea, level accepted

Ratty524 - Pursuit Palace

- I believe I've picked on this before, but the metal blocks at the beginning of the first and third segments don't fit in with the ruins, is there something more... ruined?

Of course... no SMBX event would be anything without...

Kentona - Impastable

- The second section isn't done to the best standard it could be done, I feel that the concept is great but the fact that the way to the exit pipe can be reached in one fall and with no branches makes the gimmick pointless after just one successful try
- With all the Dr. Toadly themed enemies, I feel that Boom Boom should be a Dr. Toadly Boom Boom... You know... that Red one with the strange white lines all over it, I could never tell if it was a Boom Boom reduced to Muscle and Bone or a sunburnt Boom Boom with partial suncream on, but you should use that guy

Wait, wait! I give a shit! Here's my shit, take it!

1: (5 Levels) Shroomland Forest: Brownstone Castle(Davenport), Bolete Bastille(Ratty), Forest Caldera(Jackalotrun),Shroomanctuary(MasterOfMayhem), MushroomFortress(Wildwes),

2: (2 Levels) GreyOcean Ravine: Sunken Castle(Davenport), DrainerDungeon(Ratty),

3: (4 Levels) Redbrick Desert: Brimstone Barracks(Davenport), Pursuit Palace(Ratty), Fallen Babel(MasterOfMayhem), SkullRiver(Alex),

4: (3 Levels) Sky Domain: Rainy Tower (Solitayre), Tired Towers(Ratty), Astral Ascent(Alex),

(2 Levels) Industrial Zone: Impastable (Kentona), Heavy Hall(Alex),

Of course, these levels aren't all accepted but they're what we have. If the creators don't come and say they'll work on their level within a few days, WE(And by we I mean the one responsible for this delay, ME, unless a judge would be so kind as to help or not trust my level making skills.)

Also, scope reductions: Industrial Zone: In the garbage. That will now become the last "Boss" level made by me that appears after you beat all four castles. The two levels that are made for it can either be adapted into other levels Via palette swap or alterations. If we can't manage that, they're crapped, sorry to the creators but it's my fault anyways.
4-5 Levels = PERFECT. No more Shroomland Forest Levels are to be made or accepted.
We need a few more Sky Domain and GreyOcean Ravine levels.
at the very least one more for Sky Domain and 2 for GreyOcean.

That's a total of 3 entirely new levels to be made, with all the other stages needing to be accepted or cleaned up by either the creator, should they show themselves, or me & whatever judge wants to help.
If Alexander is MIA I'll have to judge as well.

I also need to finish polishing my boss levels.
So, I've got lots of slack to make up, hopefully y'all will be kind enough to help me.

Questions for the other judges:
1: Is this scope reduction enough?
2: Can you take quick re-evaluation of my boss levels?
I know that the mouser fight still needs fixing (I think)
3:Not a question, just a thanks!
