2nd Place: Wine & Roses by Craze
3rd Place: Dead Moon Night by Fomar0153 and Indra

Judges' comments forthcoming.

First and foremost, thanks to Archeia_Nessiah for the wonderful event page CSS!

October's already here! It sure did sneak up on us like a creepy crawly black widow spider, fangs poised for a nasty, venomous bite! Like all arachnaphobes, we sprang to our feet, panicked, and tripped over the night stand decided that we're overdue for another month-long game development contest!

The Theme? Anything related to Halloween! Horror, trick-or-treating, zombie attacks, ghosts...it's your call!

This is a very broad theme: as long as the game is in the spirit of Halloween, you'll be fine. Feel free to ask if you don't think your game applies to the theme. You may use any game development engine. Additional rules are listed below.

The deadline is 12pm UTC on Halloween4pm UTC on November 3rd. A panel of judges will play each game and rank the top three entries. Users may vote for their favorite game once the contest is over; voting will be handled through this page. Results will be announced via podcast. It's the All Hallows' Event...or, I guess you could say, the Nightmare Before Halloween!

Step 1: Sign up for the contest in the "Registration" section below this event description. You can enter this event solo or as a team. Additionally, you may submit as many games or join as many teams as you'd like.
Step 2: Create your game page. Normal submission rules apply.
Step 3: Post your download to the game page once it's approved.
Step 4: Submit your game download to the contest by using the commands on the upper-right corner of this page.

Winner: Patron Spirit of Halloween Achievement (worth 100 makerscore), an LP from one of the judges, a review from one of the judges, and a free copy of RPG Maker VX Ace.
2nd place: Ragdoll Love Interest Achievement (worth 75 makerscore), an LP from one of the judges, and a review from one of the judges.
3rd place: Duckbilled Evil Scientist Achievement (worth 60 makerscore) and a review from one of the judges.
Voters' choice: Two-Faced Mayor Achievement (worth 100 makerscore).
Participation (including judges): Sadistic Sack's Shadow Achievement (worth 50 makerscore).

(Feel free to nag the judges until you get your review.)

Uh...so you broke the rules? The game had to be made THIS MONTH, not before :O

As for your other comments: harsh criticism is what you will NOT get (probably) from friends, so...learn to roll with the blows.
It hurts, but you REALLY, REALLY need to learn to see past the hurt into the actual feedback if you want to get anywhere as a game developer.
All of us have been thrashed and felt hurt or whatever by criticism. I already put mine as gentle as I could manage, but don't try to hide behind excuses like "even AAA games do this!". And by the way, even AAA games make terrible choices all the time, so that's not even a valid excuse.

Or don't listen to me. That's fine. I may be too harsh, or you may think differently. It's always up to you how to take feedback.

At least you took the time to write what you think about all those games! Harsh feedback is important (at least I think so)! Respect!
I am not making excuses dude I am saying facts. I don't care much for your criticism just don't bring other peoples games down they try their best to make them okay. Second thing is people like you should not even play games because you dins all that is wrong with it not that the outcome of the thing. Thirdly I am not making excuses I am making a point AAA games do have gliches and type o's and that is 1000+ people working on a game so no one is perfect. And if anyone here wants to lick your ass because what you say is gold sorry I am not like that. I am standing up for my hard work and effort and to see you saying stuff like that about my game no sir that is not reasonable. And this post is against the rules of RMN I don't care because one thing I hate is for people to bring down my hard work and effort. And I get feedback is good for developers but you don't go saying stuff like that about a game it's like marching into Besethda's main offices and saying Skyrim is one bad game. They will tell you to jump off of a cliff the worked on that game so please try to look for the good in things.
I remember when I first got criticism for my first game. It hurt a lot at the time, but I got over it and grew as a developer.

Dude, your game sucks. (I've never actually played it, so don't mind me.)
Calm down, no one is trying to disparage you. If it helps, don't listen to feedback as if any of it is a specific person talking, but think of it like a hum that gives you a general idea of your games reception.

And if you make something that is ill received, then (if you want to make something great) simply try again. In the game of game making you get as many tries as you want, for as long as you want.

Until you're dead, that is.
@Clyve Get a life
@Flying Jester Yeah I understand it is just people don't get it is not like I have people making a game for me :/ I have to do it and yes there will be flaws just don't point them out just be like"This game was good just hit some bumps but was a good experience".
what if it wasn't a good experience, though? Should that be sugar coated like that?
Then say something like was not a bad game just need's a lot of work, But it had a lot of potential.

LET'SBIAN DO THIS.

The internet is full of people who are gonna say bad things about you even if they don't have the evidence to back it up. I'm not saying your game is bad or good (I haven't played it yet), but that's just how people are.

I used to be absolutely terrible at making games. I still am, but that's why I'm here. Otherwise I'd be out there making a butt-ton of cash from being awesome at game making. The point is, you will only ever improve. Don't let people saying "your game sucks" bring you down, just ask them why it sucks and what you can do to improve it. You can't tell them they're wrong, because that's their opinion.

All you can do is try to make something that they'll say "your game is great!" to instead, or try to argue with them about why you think it's good. Which of those seems more sensible/mature/productive? :P

Actually I did say the concept was good but it needed work, and I went on to say WHAT needed work instead of, say: "THIS JUST SUCKS".
I mean, I was way harsher on other games that didn't need as much work in the list and they certainly aren't flaring up like this. If you get so...agitated? over this kind of criticism, well, ok. I will say nothing if you prefer. Not wanting feedback is in your rights, I guess.
But I'd be thankful if you could cool down a bit (you're coming off a bit strong, and I think I was mild enough. If I offended you: it wasn't my intent (fuck, I actually tried to tone shit down, which is why I'm surprised).

Also, I will NOT LIE. You cannot fly on potential or ideas only. Everyone has great ideas and potential, but players can only see the EXECUTION.
Time for some bad Halloween jokes!! Yippee!

Q. What monster wears the most clothes?
A. A wearwolf!

Q. Where do you go when a ghost is chasing you?
A. To the living room!

one more? Well, because it's you guys. Two!? Well... alright then:

Q. What do you call two witches who share a broom?
A. Broom mates.
or
Q. What do you call two witches that live together?
A. Broom mates.
I believe I can fly.
I know and I am sorry for coming on strong just I just hate people saying shit about my effort I try my hardest and if it is not good enough it breaks me down you should understand that. Just not all people are the same not all people can take such opinions and bury them but yet again I am sorry. :) any ways I am going to bed goodnight people.

Your belief is irrelevant. Gravity will show your non-flying ass the TRUTH: YE CANNOT FLY RAW.

A heaven with no programming or game making tools? What kind of dystopian paradise are you imagining?

...I apologize in advance for this.

I get the same feeling when working with C++ pointers.

And when I'm the Flying Jester, of course. Which is quite often.
