Judges' comments forthcoming.

First and foremost, thanks to Archeia_Nessiah for the wonderful event page CSS!

October's already here! It sure did sneak up on us like a creepy crawly black widow spider, fangs poised for a nasty, venomous bite! Like all arachnaphobes, we sprang to our feet, panicked, and tripped over the night stand decided that we're overdue for another month-long game development contest!

The Theme? Anything related to Halloween! Horror, trick-or-treating, zombie attacks, ghosts...it's your call!

This is a very broad theme: as long as the game is in the spirit of Halloween, you'll be fine. Feel free to ask if you don't think your game applies to the theme. You may use any game development engine. Additional rules are listed below.

The deadline is 12pm UTC on Halloween4pm UTC on November 3rd. A panel of judges will play each game and rank the top three entries. Users may vote for their favorite game once the contest is over; voting will be handled through this page. Results will be announced via podcast. It's the All Hallows' Event...or, I guess you could say, the Nightmare Before Halloween!

Step 1: Sign up for the contest in the "Registration" section below this event description. You can enter this event solo or as a team. Additionally, you may submit as many games or join as many teams as you'd like.
Step 2: Create your game page. Normal submission rules apply.
Step 3: Post your download to the game page once it's approved.
Step 4: Submit your game download to the contest by using the commands on the upper-right corner of this page.

Winner: Patron Spirit of Halloween Achievement (worth 100 makerscore), an LP from one of the judges, a review from one of the judges, and a free copy of RPG Maker VX Ace.
2nd place: Ragdoll Love Interest Achievement (worth 75 makerscore), an LP from one of the judges, and a review from one of the judges.
3rd place: Duckbilled Evil Scientist Achievement (worth 60 makerscore) and a review from one of the judges.
Voters' choice: Two-Faced Mayor Achievement (worth 100 makerscore).
Participation (including judges): Sadistic Sack's Shadow Achievement (worth 50 makerscore).

(Feel free to nag the judges until you get your review.)

  • Only completed games are allowed! No demos!
  • Preexisting resources may be used, but no games that were started before the beginning of the event are allowed.

  • Judges' entries will not be ranked, but they will still quality for the voters' choice achievement.

Well, just do the best you can and get the game submitted? IF a functional game gets up in time, that's what matters.

So is the due date officially post-poned until the 1st of november?

Yes it has been postponed; instead of there being less than 9 hours to go, there are now less than 35 hours to go! Hopefully everyone is into testing mode by now.

Edit: more than 10 million people are still without power along the eastern seaboard - and at least a half dozen entrants and a judge are affected. Therefore, the date is being pushed two more days until 4pm UTC on the 3rd, or Saturday at noon for us East Coasters.

For users unfamilar with the storm and the geography, the Northeast Megalopolis, extending from Virginia to Maine, is the largest populated region in the native English world and is equivalent in density and development to the TaiheiyĊ Belt of Japan (and even segments of the Chinese coasts). In this area and the surrounding inland cities are more than 80 million people. This hurricane/superstorm made landfall almost directly in the geographic center of the region; it dropped more than 2 feet of snow in inland regions, and flooded New Jersey and New York City with more than 10 feet of surge. Power outages extend over a 1,000 mile area; the storm was the largest of its type on record, and one of the most severe storms to hit this area.

But I doubt anyone will complain about an extension ;)
ok. i'm very new. how on earth do we add a game to this sit. at the moment i just have a link in my discription leading to thw mediafire download. does that still count?
Step 01 - Make a Game Page.
To do this, hover over 'Submissions' on the top bar, until a drop down menu appears. Click on 'Submit Game'. Add a description of at least 500 words (make sure to use decent English, spelling and grammar - use a spell-checker if you're unsure about spelling.)
Add at least three different images - Title and Game Over screens are not acceptable in this case, though you can add more later.
Then save and wait. A Moderator will eventually get around to adding it to the site (as long as all parameters are met properly. If not, you'll find it denied. You can edit the Page under a drop menu on your name - 'Manage Games'.) You may have to wait a few days, depending on when the Moderator is online.

Step 02 - Adding a download
To do this your game page has to be accepted to the site. Hover over your name on the top bar until the menu appears and choose 'Manage Games'. Choose the Game you want to edit, and from there you can upload a file to your Game Page.

Step 03 - Adding to the event
Look at the top-right of this page. You will find there some links. Click on 'Submit' and choose from the drop-down menu your Game file. Congratulations, you added your game to the event.
Ok. I've looked and there isn't an option for add download to the game page. There's som CSS thing at the bottom of the page, but I cannot see an upload you game section.

Man I'm confused
You have to wait for it to be accepted to the site. If you click on 'Submissions' on the top bar it will take you to a page that shows you the status of your current submissions. If they've been accepted, it will say so there. You'll also get a Notice when it happens, too.
You just have to wait until then - then options for your Game Page will appear, including Downloads, Pages, Blogs etc.

Yes; they'd better not get too used to it, right? :P
How long does it take for a game to get accepted?
Usually about a day. There is currently only one item in the submission queue right now (and it isn't yours).
Make sure you have three images attached to your game profile and the body has 500 characters in it else it won't even show up in the submission queue.
